My girlfriend was mad because I didn't open the car door for her. I just swam to the surface.
<SiFuh>
HAHAHAHAH awesome
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: "I am so mad. I had 2 WNBA tickets in my car. Somebody broke into my car last night and I have 4 WNBA tickets now."
<SiFuh>
That joke perfectly fits in with that conversation we had about male sports and female sports

SiFuh: on first glance, it looks like there were similar goals underpinning scratchpkg and oprt (https://gitlab.com/therealfun/oprt), both of which attempt to reimplement CRUX packaging in sh/bash. Did Emmett ever interact or collaborate with Fun, or did they mostly work independently?
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: sure, I will ask. But now is the fasting month so he may not reply for awhile.
<farkuhar>
to me it feels like a fetish for asceticism, limiting your toolbox to sh/bash. There had to be a good reason why OpenBSD went with perl when writing the equivalent tools for their ports.
<SiFuh>
Maybe they only knew how to do it in perl?
<farkuhar>
if you insist on orchestrating any high-level operation using sh/bash, then at some point you run up against the limitations of the shell, and find yourself reaching for awk or perl anyway. Once your sh script is littered with so many invocations of these other interpreters, it makes more sense to write the wrapper command in awk or perl from the very beginning.
<farkuhar>
for example, I rewrote finddeps in awk and achieved a 10x speedup, by avoiding the need to spawn so many extraneous prt-get processes.
<farkuhar>
but then I managed to optimize the bash script even more, so the performance discrepancy is not so wide. Example `time` results: 0m01.37s real 0m00.07s user 0m00.04s system (bash) versus 0m00.23s real 0m00.19s user 0m00.04s system (awk)
<ppetrov^>
farkuhar, will your rewritten tool make it to prtutils?
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: already in the repo, I just haven't given the commit a tag. I didn't notice that you joined us again; I thought you were mourning the loss of hexchat.
<ppetrov^>
heh, i have it in my ports, as you know i have a fetish for old/obsolete GTK2 stuff
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: "No i dont. I wrote scratchpkg everything on my own. And this is first time i hear about oprt and therealfun" -- emmet1
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: well, the plan is to keep testing the rewritten tools on various CRUX installations, and if they prove viable, maybe push a new version of prt-utils by the end of the week.
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: thanks for passing along the reply from emmet1.
<ppetrov^>
farkuhar, so do you maintain prtutils?
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: yes
<farkuhar>
for now at least. The core team can just as easily revoke my git commit privileges, as they did with stenur and the {contrib,start-stop-daemon} repos.
<ppetrov^>
heh, i missed the stenur drama
<SiFuh>
Me too!
<ppetrov^>
what are these start-stop-daemon repos?

Moscow’s Basmanny Court has placed three more suspects allegedly connected to Friday’s deadly terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall under arrest, the court’s press service has reported. The detainees will remain in custody until at least May 22.

That's what the people of Pompeii thought
<zorz>
HAHA
<zorz>
many years before Pompeii was Santorini
<SiFuh>
What ever happened to Friland and Atlantis and Krakatoa
<zorz>
SiFuh: we go find the arabs... take money and build a cable from middle east to africa and then latin america. bypass frankfrut
<zorz>
theys say Atlantis should be near Gibraltar.
<SiFuh>
I use when driving in convoy off road so no need to stop and pee
<zorz>
ok
<SiFuh>
Just pee in it when going downhill while driving then open the window and pour it out
<SiFuh>
It's best to put your balls inside as well. That way you don't hurt yourself over bumps and if you need to use two hands on the steering wheel your balls will hang on to it.
<SiFuh>
Hahaha
<zorz>
finished... debian sysvinit ifup wpa_supplicant xterm vim cwm ffmpeg firefox pulseaudio just to setup autologin, and bind some keys... if i cannot bind Fkeys in cwm config.. i will ask your help
<SiFuh>
I shall call it the Green Duck
<zorz>
haha
<zorz>
yes seriously in hospital they call it παπια
<remiliascarlet>
"Brussels asks Big Tech to counter threats to integrity of European appointing (which they call elections)" I have a better idea: just do paper-based "voting", and allow regular citizens to count the votes.
<remiliascarlet>
Not like it even matters anyway, because EU selections never mean shit.
<SiFuh>
I think it is better to give guns back to all the people and then go to and shoot every fscking politician and corporate heads and the WEF, NATO, the WHO and so on and the people start again.
<remiliascarlet>
Is it possible to get a hunter's license in Europe?
<remiliascarlet>
Here in Japan if we want a gun, we opt for a hunter's license, because with a shooter's license you're not even allowed to use your gun.
<remiliascarlet>
With a hunter's license, you at least are allowed to shoot on wild animals.
<zorz>
only hunters.... bring your beretta
<zorz>
remiliascarlet: bring your beretta and shoot me! :Pp
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: Yes
<remiliascarlet>
zorz: But you already died 4 years ago.
