<Guest92> hellu!
<Guest92> just curious on the best place to get 'libva-intel-driver' should i just grab it from the aur
<Guest92> ?*
<sewn> Guest92: this is kisslinux
<Guest92> i know that
<sewn> trying to package?
<Guest92> yeah
<sewn> you can search it with kiss-find first or kiss s \*intel\*
alphacentauri has quit [Quit: WeeChat 4.1.0]
<Guest92> all that seems to be in the kiss repos is xf86-video-intel
<Guest92> which doesnt support vaapi
<Guest92> found the source https://github.com/intel/intel-vaapi-driver and the archlinux pkgbuild, ez

<sewn> Guest35: it will grab modules from lsmod and just enable them in configuration
<sewn> i still reccomend doing it manually, since for me some modules were skipped
<sewn> you either spend some time doing kernel configuration or none at all (initramfs)
<Guest35> caved and did it all manually
<Guest35> still have to modprobe broadcom-wl because it wasnt in the kernel
<sewn> if youre modprobing it manually then its a module
<sewn> you should compile it as builtin
<Guest35> i couldnt actually find the right blob
<Guest35> ill try to find the right wl firmware after install because its hard to make it all work without it
<sewn> midfavila: i vaguely remember you had a website somewhere with a blog that i read and completely forgot about it as it gave me bad feels, where can i find it?
<Guest35> can i disable built in firmware with rmmod?
<sewn> you disable built in firmware by not allowing it
<Guest35> assuming i should compile without any wifi drivers and probe them once ive booted em up
<sewn> firmware is baked in with a manual config key that you have to specify firmware in
<Guest35> sewn in the kernel launch params?
<sewn> CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE
<sewn> CONFIG_PREVENT_FIRMWARE_BUILD=y
<sewn> CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE_DIR="/home/meow/src/linux-firmware"
<sewn> in CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE you can specify firmware seperated with spaces, for me i do CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE="intel-ucode/06-b7-01 iwlwifi-so-a0-hr-b0-74.ucode"
<sewn> (intel-ucode isnt included in linux-firmware, i had to add it myself)
<Guest35> looks like i can do this `module_to_blacklist.blacklist=yes` in the grub cmd line
<sewn> no

<sewn> where did sad_plan go?
<sewn> last seen him like a week and a half ago
<midfavila> redhat got him
<sewn> did he actually get a redhat job
<midfavila> no
<midfavila> redhat executed him for disobeying
<midfavila> just like they got dylan ;w;
<sewn> so hes dead
<sewn> awesome........
<midfavila> you're next sewn
<midfavila> i have an inside informat
<midfavila> the ninjas are on their way
<midfavila> the only way you can evade them is if you immediately remove all proprietary software from your life
<midfavila> sotd rec
<sewn> saudi government agents will get me before red hat
<sewn> midfavila: propietary software is enforced because of governmental services being fully digital
<midfavila> >The UAE is on route to your location. Please remain seated.
<midfavila> sewn imagine not going to your local government office to demand physical paperwork
<midfavila> that's what i do
<midfavila> i still file taxes by hand
<midfavila> alternatively i could take a page out of emerald macs' book and do my taxes in emacs
<midfavila> print the form off on my dot matrix and send that by mail

<sewn> midfavila: unironically cant
<sewn> digital is _required_ straight up
<sewn> there are deadass shops that help the elders click a bunch of setups to do the work for them
<midfavila> deadass frfr no cap homie?

<synimas> Hellu again, ive removed quiet from grubs parameters. However when i boot it still displays 'Loading linux 6.6-rc ...' and still doesnt show any logs. Ill send a picure of what its doing
<synimas> Ill upload my grub.cfg in 20-30 minutes if its needed
<sewn> tat is
<sewn> that is a very interesting
<sewn> grub
<sewn> there have been countless people here who had your issue, so i would suggest going through irc logs first, your issue is most likely no proper support for your graphics driver
<midfavila> >drop ceilings
<midfavila> >>>>>>>>
<sewn> whats a drop ceilings
<synimas> Think itd be funny if i just forgot to enable the intel graphics driver lmao
<synimas> Wait, what does recovery mode do?
<synimas> Also, where can i find the irc logs?
<alphacentauri> guess what fellas
