<SiFuh>
Here is what happens when the car wash thinks they are doing you a favour and wash your engine without your permission. My truck caught fire
<ppetrov^>
the fuck
<SiFuh>
The solvents they used ate the plastic wiring because they didn't clean the solvents off properly. My mechanic friend also is scared to start his car because they did the same to his truck.
<SiFuh>
Also without his permission
<SiFuh>
So when the plastic burns away the copper core shorts out on the body or other wires and starts a fire
<SiFuh>
What is interesting is they also wash high end super cars and the new workers are beginners. Newbies.
<SiFuh>
It's a new battery too 30th of April 2024.
<ppetrov^>
heh
<ppetrov^>
battery seems pretty big
<SiFuh>
The Mechanic asked me why I was not concerned. I said "Seen it all before"
<SiFuh>
It's truck battery for an off-road 4x4.
<ppetrov^>
ah
<SiFuh>
As long as the truck isn't a metal puddle of plastic, then it is fine. I can deal with that.
<SiFuh>
But the electrical wiring is probably all going to need to be replaced. I planned to that next year.
<SiFuh>
ppetrov^: Oh and my mechanic friend has all new wiring.
<SiFuh>
My Turbo needs to be repaired too and the Turbo pipes
<ppetrov^>
i really don't know much about cars
<ppetrov^>
my old Volvo drives and i am fine with that
<ppetrov^>
changed battery last winter
<SiFuh>
We have a Volvo 4x4 in our group
<ppetrov^>
which was good, because it stayed over 12h at -30
<ppetrov^>
cool
<SiFuh>
That machine is unbelievable.
<SiFuh>
Volvos are really good and the drivers are usually very slow.
<SiFuh>
We have a 4x4 track that only the Volvo can drive. The Landcruisers and the Land Rovers and the Pajeros and the Sportages just can't do it.
<ppetrov^>
what's the model of that 4x4
<SiFuh>
Not sure, I can find out today sometimes. The guy offered to sell it to me. Then asked me my asking price. Then I heard that he has no intention to sell it just wanted to see what other's think it was worth.
<ppetrov^>
heh
<SiFuh>
He is also the same guy who is responsible for every 4x4 being fucked last jungle trip.
<SiFuh>
Everyone who went jungle with use. 3 teams all have fucked trucks now. Broken CV's, broken bearings, broken hubs, missing coils (Springs), broken drive shafts, burned out clutches, bent panhard rods. EVERYONE. No joke.
<SiFuh>
No one will follow him again. Dudes a rich kid who had a cool trip that was just winching 99% of the time. No exageration. And a super shit campsite.
<SiFuh>
He's very arrogant and shows off a lot. He knows his stuff though. But none of our trucks were designed or modified for a trip like this.
<SiFuh>
It's now become a joke amoung us "Jeram Janggut" (That is the jungle we went into). Everyone laughs.
<SiFuh>
ppetrov^: Message sent about what model the Volvo is. Will let you know tonight hopefully
<ppetrov^>
ah, no worries
<SiFuh>
Also I should ask does he have portal installed
<SiFuh>
If you knew cars, you probably still wouldn't know what portals are.
<SiFuh>
ppetrov^: https://tinyurl.com/5fyyxrhw These are portals. Notice the centre of the wheel is no longer in line with the axels?
<ppetrov^>
yes?
<SiFuh>
It's used to lift up your entire chassis a little higher. But your wheel centres are now lower, so it requires gears to connect
<SiFuh>
At the same time it lifts your cars, the wheel base is wider. So your wheels are slighter wider apart.
<SiFuh>
Cool design, used by the military a lot. But here in Malaysia most 4x4 with portals can't drive over the log bridges because they are now too wide. But can drive bad roads without scraping the underside of your car.
<SiFuh>
Also extra maintenace required as each portal has oil levels you need to monitor
<SiFuh>
I think the Volvo may have this.
<SiFuh>
