zorz: "Trump is stupid man!" Europe is too socialist to understand capitalism (the free market one, not the monopolist one we have today).
<remiliascarlet>
The basic rule of thumb is, politicians can be good guys as long as they're opposition. As soon as they get in power, all of the sudden they turn in the exact same evil motherfuckers they were once fighting against.
<zorz>
remiliascarlet: morning
<zorz>
in europe we have no politicians... all of them are kids. No adults in the room
<zorz>
the reason I said he is stupid is because he got upset and he said, immigrants eating dogs and cats.
<zorz>
you do not say that thing!

You're mentally lame.

<zorz>
SiFuh: he is stupid
<zorz>
you dont talk like: immigrants eat the dogs and cats.
<SiFuh>
zorz: But they are
<zorz>
I know that they are..... but you dont say that
<SiFuh>
Why not?
<zorz>
SiFuh: let me tell you a story
<SiFuh>
The US media is covering it up
<SiFuh>
No, I don't need a zorz story
<SiFuh>
Thanks to Trump speaking up about it. People have been searching and now it has been brought to international attention
<zorz>
Greece is a pass through country for immigrants towards EU. We know that no immigrant will stay in Greece because of the fucked up system. For example no benefits.
<SiFuh>
So you are saying there are no cats and dogs in Greece?
<zorz>
Authorities in Greece are also so fucked up that nothing works.... for example in Athens where lots of anbandoned dogs and cats.
<zorz>
around 2010-2014 when many immigrants came to Greece... all these pets disappear from Athens
<SiFuh>
So there are dogs and cats. You just said Greece has no benefits for them.
<zorz>
actually they did a good thing
<zorz>
HAAHA
<zorz>
Since the mayor and council of Athens where useless... immigrants took care of this problem.
<SiFuh>
I remember when China rounded up all the stray dogs and cats and exported them to South Korea and Vietnam. It was huge news.
<zorz>
when?
<SiFuh>
2007, 2008
<SiFuh>
For the Stinklimpdick games.
<zorz>
aaaa not far away
<zorz>
anyway.... Germany has now problem with immigrants.... now they realize... that Islam people cannot get mixed with the German culture and only are there for the benefits
<zorz>
they should listen to Orban more carefully.
<zorz>
right now poltiticians are Orban, Putin and Erdogan
<SiFuh>
It's planned because they need race wars and to exterminate all the Caucasian people
<zorz>
all the rest are just kids.
<zorz>
SiFuh: it seams its like this
<SiFuh>
No, it actually is
<SiFuh>
They need to eradicate the white race completely. They explained it back in the 60's.
<zorz>
yes... in Greeks when we say it seams... we mean It Is.
<SiFuh>
They want race wars, riots, religious wars and to ellimate all white people and all Christians
<zorz>
SiFuh: all nations are a bit Ethnic/racist mostly in Balkans. Like Albanians, Greeks, Turks(original ones 5%)

arch is very good. fresh, stable, unfortunately glibc and systemd. otherwise i can recommend.

i think it has the freshest packages of them all.

<SiFuh>
Arch is dirty
<zorz>
why you say that
<SiFuh>
Because their packages are full of junk and many issues
<SiFuh>
It's like each package was compiled by a blind kindergarten kid with no arms and legs.
<zorz>
aaaaa you check that
<zorz>
anyway i install wlroots, and is wlroots... not all the junk of x

I haven't upgraded gcc myself. I'll leave it to one of the early adopters to confirm. If so, I'll need to push the patch to the ports/contrib 3.8 branch.
<farkuhar>
I did upgrade dcron to follow the ports/core 3.8 branch, oddly enough. That's how I noticed the man-page inconsistencies regarding the new flag -p.
<farkuhar>
zorz: you make it sound as if the Arch Wayland packagers are the adults who appreciate cleanliness, while the blind and limbless kindergarten kids are all concentrated among the Arch Xorg packagers.

in arch they have ready all python, perl seat for scanning.... just a little bit tweaking. and you dont need to install the package and then search for the package-dev fuckin bullshit nowdays even a laptop has TB of disk space.
<zorz>

so i mess with arh not with my precious crux.

<ppetrov^>
what did you need to install?

<ppetrov^>
zorz^, how can you fuck it up if you make your own ports properly?
<ppetrov^>
last 2 days i was setting up a few python3 ports and was going to ask you, would you write a tool, sth like pip2crux, which can generate ports automatically for python stuff?
<ppetrov^>
we have cpan2crux for perl modules and it is very useful, you can give it a try
<zorz^>
i think its easier if a pro patch pip and install everything in /opt without sudo/doas
<zorz^>
i will check the pip configuration

i like in usr/bin not to be bloated... extra packages in opt i like it better.
<zorz^>

<ppetrov^>

farkuhar, you show admirable dedication
<farkuhar>
therealfun in FS#1576 enumerates three workarounds for a footprint mismatch error: 1, set PKGMK_IGNORE_NEW; 2, force the installation with an explicit pkgadd; 3, make your own port. He points out disadvantages to each workaround, e.g. for 3, the reduced likelihood that a new user will become a contrib maintainer.
<farkuhar>
stenur in Gitea #4 is trying to address a similar problem, that the upstream ports just need a little tweaking before they're suitable for the end user's purposes. The solution he's proposing has a similar disadvantage as the "make your own port" workaround listed by therealfun.
<farkuhar>
By not implementing overlay support in the official pkgmk, we would discourage users from keeping their customizations hidden away from public view, and instead get the patches incorporated into the official ports more quickly.
<farkuhar>
therealfun earlier opened FS#1410 (pkgmk support for binary packages), stating as his goal "trying to understand why do people leave CRUX (once they like it) and find ways to prevent this. ... Having to build compilers every 2-3 weeks or to rebuild huge package just because a tiny library was *improved* gets the fun out of a source based distribution."
<farkuhar>
beerman replied to FS#1410 with three possible reasons why people might distro-hop away from CRUX: 1, not enough ports (that work!); 2, not enough people signing up to care for our core tools; 3, users aren't properly trained in using our system tools, but are directed instead to try weird wrapper scripts, patch prt-get themselves or whatever.
<farkuhar>
beerman's last two reasons are related; if we actually got these proposed improvements merged into the master branch of prt-get or pkgutils, then weird wrapper scripts wouldn't be necessary.
<farkuhar>
Heh, the same page from which I'm transcribing these handwritten notes has this extract from the prt-get ChangeLog: 0.5.14 13.09.2006 - determine PKGMK_PACKAGE_DIR using fgrep without sourcing pkgmk.conf (installtransaction.cpp 642,671)
<farkuhar>
So apparently there was once an expensive "source pkgmk.conf" operation involved in determining the value of this shell variable, but it got removed a decade before Vitaly's complaint stemming from a discrepancy in the way pkgmk and prt-get interpret the same data.
<SiFuh>
Tsunami in #crux-social
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Placed a new order from Thomas Tools
<farkuhar>
beerman's second reason why people might distro-hop away from CRUX has a parenthetical note: "git support in pkgmk, ..." At the current rate of merging new features into pkgmk, it will acquire native support for git sources after some other version control system has dethroned git (in the same way that git dethroned svn).
<SiFuh>
Only issues I had with svn was it didn't like libressl
<SiFuh>
I remember CVS before SVN
<SiFuh>
CVS was popular for the OpenBSD guys back in the early days
<SiFuh>

<SiFuh>
farkuhar: We already got a huge discount due to coupons. But when we order we like to add to cart and not place the order for a day or two because Thomas (Whom yet met) will see our cart has items and to solidify the sale he likes to throw in some extra discounts. ;-)
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Isn't there an egrep issue?
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: I'm sure Thomas appreciates all the advertising you're doing here on his behalf.
<SiFuh>
And also. Why didn't CRUX add sgx group in the group files?
<SiFuh>
I usually do groupadd -r -g 106 sgx so I don't have udevd complaining on bootup
<farkuhar>
Heh, you're right, sgx isn't in /etc/group yet, even on the 3.8 branch of ports/core/filesystem
<SiFuh>
I sent to CRUX as a question
<SiFuh>
It's not like inserting linux-pam or sudo into core. It's just a single line.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Also would be nice to have the CRUX install allow you to add a root password and create a user in the installer if you wish. But that isn't important
<farkuhar>
You mean without waiting for the chroot step? I agree, that would be more familiar to users who distro-hop from another OS.
<SiFuh>
I think both sudo and opendoas should be in opt. Or at least an extra selection like they do with the bootloader asking would you like sudo or opendoas or continue.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Could even push it as far as even configuring the files like rc.conf, hosts, net.... but that is a bit extreme. Would help the distro hoppers
<SiFuh>
There was a CRUX installer based on OpenBSD's installer
<farkuhar>
Of the three parts that make up the CRUX Mantra, it's part 3 that offers the strongest endorsement of stenur's simple overlay proposal. "The target audience [experienced users] also influences the design of utilities. They're meant to be *tools*, not *assistants*; they should do the work for you, not the thinking."
<SiFuh>
I tried the ispired installer before. Was really cool. But I like the dialog version
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: It is why I created ckut. That way I don't need to go out of my way to find the latest kernel version, and then type in the commands to download, extract, configure, compile and install.
<SiFuh>
And I based it off of the OpenBSD installer using dialog.
<farkuhar>
So stenur might regard it as hard work to invoke signify manually and verify the checksums shipped with the official port. His pkgmk extension would transparently preserve the utility of the signature file, sparing the end user some burdensome work but not the thinking that's required for port customization.
<zorz>
ckut is nice
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Did you ever check it out? it requires pv and dialog. There is a configuration file under /etc
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: actually I haven't worked with ckut yet.
<SiFuh>
If you install lynx, it will be detected and you can open up the kernel website as well.
<SiFuh>
It also detects what bootloaders you use except for efibootmgr.
<zorz>
i did not use it because i dont use bootloader... but its nice. i compiled with ckut
<SiFuh>
I said I'd write a program to do it. And in a day or two it was done. Stenur basically was shocked.
<SiFuh>
beerman wanted to do one as well. And when I sent it to CRUX stenur was like (paraphrasing) "I expected something basic but holy shit"
<SiFuh>
zorz: It's one of the first things I install. That way, I configure the network and get the latest version of the kernel I want. Although it can be used by manual input the CD version of the kernel.
<SiFuh>
zorz: Maybe one day, I do a full re-write of it. But it works and I haven't found any bugs yet. So I haven't bothered.
<farkuhar>
therealfun also wanted to extend the official tools so that the end user is spared some tedious work. Rather than give up the benefits of the footprint file, FS#1576 would make footprints adaptable to the different possible configurations. But the maintenance burden would have been enormous (to document all the possible footprint changes).
<zorz>
after playing with it.... is amazing but because i do not have bootloader, i took the get-verified-tarball of kernel.org and i change it for efibootmgr. i do my job now.
<SiFuh>
zorz: Actually I lie. I found one bug. But I fixed that already.
<SiFuh>
zorz: i do my job now. It does the job now*
<farkuhar>
zorz: "i do my job now." <- is this your excuse for something else, like how lavaball is always telling us about the naps he's going to take?
<zorz>
i just do get-verified-tarball 6.6.50 and does everything
<zorz>
but its only for my system
<farkuhar>
lavaball tells us he's going to take a nap, and we suspect he goes off to do something else. zorz tells us he's going to do his job, and ... ?
<lavaball>
i've notieced that additional sleep recharges my central nervous system.
<lavaball>
so i put in my two unit naps, which sometimes are just one these days.
<lavaball>
anyway, can recommend.
<zorz>
lavaball: you did not tell us ... you prefer the mothers or the daughters ?
<zorz>
SiFuh: told me lavaball that you ask the mothers for grand-daughters
<lavaball>
i like my bitches fresh.
<SiFuh>
lavaball: I take a nap daily except when going jungle.
<lavaball>
that's because you are old.
<SiFuh>
No, because it is good for the health
<SiFuh>
You take a nap because you are a cud muncher and have zero energy.
<lavaball>
i'm taking mine because i'm a child. just like remi correctly abducted.
<SiFuh>
Abducted?
<lavaball>
abductive reasoning.
<SiFuh>
She doesn't abduct children
<farkuhar>
It's another instance of lost-in-translation, like stenur's use of "vaporise".
<SiFuh>
I'd have used deducted myself
<lavaball>
but that would have been incurrect, since there are multiple possible solutions.
<lavaball>
incorrect
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: abduced ;-)
<SiFuh>
Hahaha
<SiFuh>
I guess it is kind of like record (Vinyl disk), record (a new winning/accomplished result) and less so record and to copy something.
<farkuhar>
lavaball: what is the German idiom that stenur might be thinking of, that he translates to "vaporise" when quoting selectively from something he's replying to?
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Stenur has his own English.
<SiFuh>
Stenurglish ;-)
<lavaball>
what?
<SiFuh>
lavaball: I have accomplished a new record as I record this new record.
<farkuhar>
stenur writes "i vaporise as follows" and then proceeds to quote selected passages from my post on his Gitea issue #4: https://git.crux.nu/ports/core/issues/4
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Maybe he means 'let off steam'?
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: That's an interesting possibility.
<SiFuh>
Or "Gasbag"
<farkuhar>
I thought it meant: boil away the excess verbosity, leaving behind only the specific sentences that deserve further discussion.
<SiFuh>
Ich verdampfe = I evaporate
<SiFuh>
Hahah
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Like wittle away?
<lavaball>
he solves. i think he means dissolve, which can also mean vaporise. which comes from solving, solving the riddile, giving a solution. i solve for x.
<farkuhar>
Hmm, whittle away is the right metaphor if you're used to carving wood. But dissolve is the more natural metaphor for a chemist.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: better I just ask him ;-)
<SiFuh>
Or a bush man
<farkuhar>
Why isn't he unbanned from #crux already? He could have contributed so greatly these past several years.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: He isn't banned. I told you already.
<SiFuh>
He was never banned
<SiFuh>
He had enough of the channel's shit
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: convince him to come back, then. The channel is a lot cleaner now.
<SiFuh>
He was removed from being a port maintainer only.
<SiFuh>
And that greatly pissed him off
<SiFuh>
Basically the dev team and the beerman conspired behind his back and just booted him from being a maintainer
<SiFuh>
They didn't have the decency to tell him. They just did it. When he found out he wanted to know why and then they basically made up some bullshit as to why.
<SiFuh>
That's like your mother changing the locks and not letting you back in without your knowledge as to why.
<farkuhar>
I'm having a hard time picturing beerman as somebody's mother.
<SiFuh>
Then when you scream down the driveway as to what is going on, she then makes up some shit as to why you are not welcomed anymore.
<ppetrov^>
SiFuh, the contrib team is rather small for core maintainers to afford to be nasty with its members
<ppetrov^>
were stenurs ports that bad?
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: it had nothing to do with his ports, it was something he posted in another public forum, insulting the core team.
<SiFuh>
ppetrov^: No, they just didn't like his PMS ;-)
<ppetrov^>
farkuhar, heh -- do you have the link?
<SiFuh>
ppetrov^: If you can understand it. Hahaha it was an awesome read.
<ppetrov^>
and if i understood correctly, a coremember had been a dick with him
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: sorry, that's not a link I wanted to keep.
<ppetrov^>
fair enough
<SiFuh>
Yes, that is correct ppetrov^. He was constantly abusing him. Things like "He doesn't even know how to use fucking IRC correctly" and there was a port that he was testing and it wasn't ready yet and it ended up going mainstream and then he was abused for the not yet finished abomination.
<ppetrov^>
did they know he had been testing the port still
<farkuhar>
Even if zorz wasn't entirely truthful about leaving us to do his job, he does appear to be AFK. Good for him, not getting drawn into our trip down memory lane.
<SiFuh>
03:20:41 [jue> stenur: we decided to ban you from here, the really bad comment in your libarchive report was too much, we will no longer accept your infamies
<ppetrov^>
farkuhar, i see all kind of shit discussed here, i am suprised you dislike discussing this. After all, it's a crux contributor we are talking about
<ppetrov^>
ok, 'dislike' may not be the right word, maybe 'disapprove'
<farkuhar>
The date of the IRC log is not when the core team kicked stenur out, the IRC log is just the most recent copy-and-paste from when it actually happened (December 2022 according to the dpaste above).
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: the dpaste is his response
<SiFuh>
I can't find the one just before it
<lavaball>
i really like my big icons.
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: I don't have a problem with the trip down memory lane. I just appreciate that zorz is not bringing up irrelevant shit while we reminisce.
<lavaball>
what?
<lavaball>
someone was banned?
<lavaball>
what did he say?
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Don't say his name, you will activate the beast
<SiFuh>
"Need to distinguish between child labour,
<SiFuh>
child workers and child ‘helpers’"
<SiFuh>
Bahaha
<SiFuh>
Page 3
<SiFuh>
They actually try to soften it by saying they are just helping
<lavaball>
i'm sure their way to pass the time is valid.
<lavaball>
i don't care.
<lavaball>
i'm doing all i can day by buying the expensive shit.
<SiFuh>
vivani get's there stuff from Dominican Republic and Ghana (So they say)
<SiFuh>
I should grow it here.
<SiFuh>
Then export to you. Then you can turn it into chocolate.
<lavaball>
all that slavery talk made me hungry. i got out a glass of peanutbutter after all.
<SiFuh>
Then you don't need to worry about IT and become fat like Jabba De Hut
<lavaball>
i hate the stirring requirement though.
<SiFuh>
lavaball: I want to grow hemp here.
<SiFuh>
But the idiots that be, use the excuse it is the same a marijuanna but the real reason is it would decimate their palm oil plantations because the money is better.
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: Intersting. I closed the fenced off area because I am steralizing the floor. I took her kennel out and put near our door with the door open. I let her out to pee. Then when I came to check 30 minutes later, she was sleeping inside of it. *nice*

zorz has quit [Quit: leaving]
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: stenur says exim should be dropped from CRUX-MUSL and replaces with DMA
<SiFuh>
replaced*
<ppetrov^>
farkuhar, ok, thanks for the clarification :)
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: I thought the TODO3-8 wiki page already had the s/exim/dma/ proposal. Glad to hear that stenur concurs.
<SiFuh>
He said it is lighter than exim and has extra features.
<SiFuh>
[03 38 54] [stenur> what? exim->dma, i see. Like FreeBSD did. It is really small, and you get local mails, and can proxy to the extern if you desire, .. i do not have it (except for tracking the git repo) no more, but in FreeBSD they did it, and i think it is the right default to have. (Especially if choosing a different one is very easy.)

zorz: Did you know most African countries have more sanctions than Russia and North Korea?
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: I think he knows stuff but not English. But today his English was quite good
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: The restaurant here down the road is finally closed. Never to open again. They use Camping Butane stoves at the restaurant to cook hot pots and stuff. It's cheap and easy. But this year two canisters of butane exploded over the course of the year.
<zorz>
SiFuh: what you say now ?
<SiFuh>
zorz: You need a dictionary?
<SiFuh>
Or your jeans too tight now?
<zorz>
Africans should ban Europeans and Americans to entering the continent
<zorz>
compiling shit like crazy
<zorz>
now i am rocm llvm thanx god is binary
<ppetrov^>
what's this thing about "random seed" and crux?
<zorz>
i hope hashcat will run ok with rocm... all the point is this.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Camping stoves that use Butane need to be outside, not inside or in restaraunts. They need to be off the ground. You cannot use pots that are so large they end extending above the canister. Also these butane canisters are dangerous if not designed for stoves. You need to find CRV or BVR canisters. CRV pop the top and release gas near the top. But I prefer BVR because they pop the bottom and
<SiFuh>
shoot the gas away from the fire. Still the stoves can move and spill hot food on you. Butane is heavy so it is like water. It dalls to the ground (Hence must be off the ground)
<zorz>
ofcourse is faster.... does only this thing
<SiFuh>
I have access to many Antminer's but not for Monero.
<zorz>
sifuh... have a look at tradeogre..... maybe you find something
<zorz>

<SiFuh>

<zorz>
if you have access in many antminers... put them to work... and exchange at trade ogre make monero and forget them... retirement
<zorz>

<SiFuh>
I think they are miners for XMR
<SiFuh>

<SiFuh>
Wait
<SiFuh>

<SiFuh>
And the one I borrowed is for and Asian crypto
<SiFuh>
I ran it for about a week before the powersupply fried.
<SiFuh>
I got maybe 20 cents out of it.
<SiFuh>
Waste of time
<zorz>
ethereum you can my ETC
<zorz>
or the ethereum fork
<zorz>
but electricity expensive
<SiFuh>
Electricity is cheap here but 20 cents in a week makes it expensive in comparison to the electric bill
<SiFuh>
I'd rather the X5
<zorz>
yep
<SiFuh>
But I am not paying the money for it because it will take more than a year to recover the cost
<zorz>
Europe/// greece.... fucking expensive
<SiFuh>
Of course. US blew up the pipeline
<SiFuh>
And the greenies fucked it all
<SiFuh>
Here I ask you a question
<zorz>
if stupid europeans listening to Orban of Hungary... for immigrants and russia... now no problem
<SiFuh>
Who funds those morons that spill milk and sit in roads and throw shit at famous artwork?
<zorz>
instead they try to make him look stupid
<zorz>
exactly like trump now
<SiFuh>
If i was Trump, I'd have turned to Kamala and ask "Why are you here? Who the fsck voted for you? I got the most votes in American history and you got zero. Thought you were about democracy."
<SiFuh>
I wonder though. Did he? Compare the voting population to the previous populations and work out the percentages then tell me if you go the most votes in American history.
<SiFuh>
I don't doubt he did though. I think he actually has the most votes in history.
<SiFuh>
If I was voting, which I never do. I'd vote for Trump.
<SiFuh>
I would NEVER vote for a democrat.
<SiFuh>
zorz: In Australia voting is compulsary. If not you must pay a fine. I have never paid the fine and never voted.
<SiFuh>
I don't like any of the fuckers. If I did vote it would have been Kim Jong Il. But he is dead now.
<SiFuh>
zorz: Last person ever voted for in my family was also the first person. JFK. Then after he was shot in 1963 my father said he'd never vote again
<SiFuh>
I blocked him on all other channels like Telegram and MSN messenger, AOL, and so on.
<SiFuh>
He spells worse than you. He is nearing 80 and uses smily faces and LOL and shit. You is spelt U and Your is ur and Are is r. It's fucking horrible to read
<SiFuh>
My mother says "You blocked your own father?" Hahahaha I said "If he has no time to type correctly then I have no time for reading it"
<SiFuh>
For the tiger thing. It annoys me when I go camping or jungle with certain people. They throw fireworks into the forest and it not only annoys the animals but it annoys us
<SiFuh>
You'd be alone fishing on a log, then BOOM!. Almost fall off the log.
<SiFuh>
Fsck, tigers generally don't hunt during the day. It is too hot. They wait until dawn or dusk. Stop your bombing shit.
<SiFuh>
zorz: I have some awesome news for you
<SiFuh>
20:00 my time, (5 hours difference for you.) The Grand Tour S05E04 will be released on TV
