<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: #crux has died since #crux-social became a thing, so I guess not.

<farkuhar> SiFuh: with sndio on Linux having to go through the ALSA layer, maybe there's a way to combine the ~/.asoundrc approach with sndio, so that the ALSA-emulated full-duplex card is what sndio tries to use by default. That way, there's no need to export AUDIORECDEVICE or AUDIOPLAYDEVICE overriding AUDIODEVICE.
<farkuhar> This combination obviously wouldn't be testable on OpenBSD, but I can give it a quick test later today. The main problem I foresee is convincing sndio to use the emulated card, not the actual hardware.
<farkuhar> The bundled man-page sndio(7) is OpenBSD-specific; it's only by reading supplemental documentation that the user learns rsnd/$ALSA_NAME is a valid "raw device descriptor" on Linux. I'll still need to avoid a race condition in which sndio is launched before the asoundrc is read by ALSA; otherwise the emulated full-duplex card will not be recognized by sndio.

<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Fun fact: my entire server park runs off of ThinkCentres that were marked as "junk" before purchase.
<remiliascarlet> Then I simply swapped out the i3 or i5 processors of whichever generation they were using for an i7 one, upgraded the RAM to their max capacities, installed a 250 GiB SSD (or multiple 2 TiB SSDs in the case of my NAS), and in the case of those using a Realtek network card, I either swapped out for an Intel one, or added an Intel one via PCIe.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: I was just looking at their passwords and usernames. I have 264 and some of them are ridiculous. Like one gmail account has a password abc123. How can that be? I don't think gmail allows 6 characters
<remiliascarlet> I could technically start a VPS hosting company, but I still haven't figured out yet how to get multiple static IPs working off a single network.
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Maybe those Gmail accounts were created before the internet's paleolithic era (which is the 90s), back when nobody cared about password security.
<SiFuh> Nah, I was just looking, she is using her gmail to access a government website.
<SiFuh> Most of the URLs are Malaysian government
<lavaball> remi, i'm gonna take a nap. you coming?

<SiFuh> Heh, it was part of the joke
<ppetrov^> heh
<SiFuh> There use to be a lot of jokes insulting the Irish when I was a kid. More than black, aboriginal, Chinese and Indians.
<SiFuh> I wonder if it was spawned as propaganda because of the IRF
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: It will be my new NFS server. It is more powerful that the current one
<SiFuh> And more compact which means will use less space in the store room (future pantry)

<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: She is sleeping inside the kennel by her own voalition. After 'Temple Time' where she gives yellow and brown gifts to the Chinese idols. I went and threw all her stuff back into the kennel. She then came to inspect and walked in and went to sleep.
<SiFuh> Door is open.
<SiFuh> I am glad she is in there because the security lights turn on all night. To bright outside for sleeping
<SiFuh> Too* Not good for health

<farkuhar> SiFuh: I also found this thread, https://sndio.org/arch/0058.html , although it was written before the introduction of AUDIO{PLAY,REC}DEVICE env vars. Still haven't gotten around to testing my idea about the ALSA-emulated full-duplex card.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: I don't like Alsa
<SiFuh> Not sure if I can stay awake for the Trump vs Camel Toe Hairy Arse debate.
<SiFuh> I want to watch the clown Trump slaughter the evil hag
