<ukky> farkuhar: I cannot make a better patch than this: https://cruxy.ca/files/iproute2-6.11-musl.patch

<remiliascarlet> Cringe...
<lavaball> haha.
<remiliascarlet> Cringe...
<lavaball> anyway, you should have explained the table for me.
<lavaball> here if you want to have a go: https://www.fda.gov/media/75792/download?attachment look for Rates of Reported Complications and explain the 0.5 dead people.

<farkuhar> ukky: Thanks for the patch. I'm still hitting the same error with bridge/mst.c, yet the compiler's own output casts doubt on the claim of incompatible pointer type! note: expected 'const struct timeval *' but argument is of type 'const struct timeval *'
<farkuhar> It can't be a bug introduced by the gcc 12 -> 14 upgrade, because the same error appeared on a CRUX-MUSL machine with gcc 12. But it certainly reads like a compiler that has trouble recognizing equivalent pointer types.

<SiFuh> These buildings, you see them across Malaysia. They are window-less but have small holes at the top. This is where the birds live and fly out freely, where they collect the bird saliva for eating.
<SiFuh> These guys were hanging around my campsite. Like right beside us all night and most of the day.
<SiFuh> The big frog, on the branch had a partner he was stalking further up the next branch. The frog on the green canvas is a different species.
<farkuhar> ukky: Thanks, iproute2 built successfully with that patch. I'm still baffled by the "incompatible pointer type" warning, but it's a mystery I can afford to leave unsolved for now.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Pointing with the wrong type of finger
<SiFuh> Heh, did you know farkuhar, it is impolite to point at something with your index finger here. Luckily for me I point with two fingers like a gun. Here they point with a closed fist and with their thumb
<farkuhar> How is 'const struct timeval *' an incompatible type, if the compiler expected 'const struct timeval *'? That's what gcc appears to be saying in its error message.
<farkuhar> Anyway, inserting the line "#include <sys/time.h>" fixed the issue, so there's no reason to dwell on a gcc warning that could have been worded better.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: Was at a Vietnamese restaurant. I asked for fried rice with beef. She says "Better you order with noodles" I said "Okay, cool. NO SOY!" She says "We can't do that, it will taste different and you might not like it and then you will complain" I replied "If you put soy in it, I will complain and not eat it or pay" Hahaha
<ukky> farkuhar: gcc might consider both declarations independend and unrelated, like in different scope. Thus, even if the syntax is the same, they are considered incompatible.
<ukky> Does anyone have Pkgfile for Subversion, aka svn?

<farkuhar> SiFuh: Heh, the misinterpretation of gestures across different societies is a recurring gag in the Tintin books. Consider the scene from Tintin in Tibet, where Captain Haddock misinterprets the stick-your-tongue-out gesture with which the local kids greeted him.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Sounds like Maoris before battler
<SiFuh> battle*
<SiFuh> farkuhar: I usually point with two fingers or open hand. No problems here doing that.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Here is one for Thailand. If a woman crosses her legs like a Western woman, it is impolite. She must keep her feet together and point them off to the side. Never point your foot at anyone or lift them high or point to anything with your foot. Never step on money with your feet, or step on or over someone. It's really rude.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: For the men. Never cross your legs like a Western man. You must cross your legs like a woman. And keep your feet pointed away from other people
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: A man was speeding down the road. A policeman on his way home saw the man, followed with lights and sirens. A few moments later the speeding man pulls over. The policeman said "It is the end of my shift. I don't want to do any paperwork. So if you give me a reason why you didn't stop earlier and why you were speeding, I will let you off" The speeding man thought for a moment and said "My wife
<SiFuh> left me for another man two weeks ago. He was a policeman. I thought you were him trying to give her back"
<ppetrov^> ba-dum-tss
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: My wife says in the night time to me. "Can you take me to shower in river. Orang Asli man (Original jungle people of Malaysia) might kidnap me and force me to marry" I said "Who cares, when sunlight comes and they see your face, they will bring you back to me". In the morning a beautiful Orang Asli woman rode by on her motorcycle. Smiled and waved to me. I turned to the wife and said "Wah,
<SiFuh> why she isn't kidnapping me and forcing me to marry her?" My wife asks "If it happens what would you do?" I said "Stay!"
<ppetrov^> ba-dum-tss
<SiFuh> That is a true story by the way.
<SiFuh> Everyone was laughing. The timing was so perfect.
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: Today at the campsite, there is a river that splits into two buy a bolder. Damn! They are both very fast moving waters. But the second was the strongest. I found a nice hole in the shape of a bath tub right where the strongest water is flowing. If you position yourself perfect into that hole. The water gives you the best massage ever. You can't move too much or you will be washed downstream.
<SiFuh> When I found it, I showed it to the other Malays but that was a bad mistake. They hogged it the entire time. Fortunately, I found a better one 2 metres away. Where the water is direct and not going over a rock onto your back.
<farkuhar> SiFuh: at first I read "that was a bad mistake" and anticipated that one of the Malays had gotten washed downstream, having underestimated the strength of the current. But if the only downside is that the Malays all hogged the spot, that's not too bad.
<SiFuh> Well, it turned out to be good because I found a superior spot.

<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Nice straight frogs, Alex Jones will be proud of you.
<remiliascarlet> lavaball: "anyway, you should have explained the table for me." You should have not forced me some stupid table down my throat.
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: "We can't do that, it will taste different and you might not like it and then you will complain" That sounds like a very stupid excuse. If you order without soy, of course you expect it to taste differently, and won't complain about it!
<remiliascarlet> lavaball: I know the table is about the lethal injections, but the idiots took it, the weak are going to die or get extremely sick, it's their own fault, and I don't care. As long as the people I care about are fine, whether 1 person, 0 people, or 0.5 people died is none of my concerns.
