farkuhar: I am wondering why Rust was the language of choice and not, let's say, JavaPyZekeBoo. Language doesn't exist yet, but they could start writing a compiler for it using Yacc. But as I mentioned above, new team comes and wants to re-write all software in a new language and no bugs will ever be introduced.
<ukky>
The choice of Rust is obvious: The author works at Mozilla and also maintains Rust toolchain for Debian and Ubuntu.
<ukky>
I also wonder whether zorz, being fluent in Python, ever wanted to re-write Coreutils in Python?

I also wonder whether zorz ever thought of applying his Python skills and distro-whoring toward speed improvements in Gentoo's portage system.
<ukky>
farkuhar: zorz cannot make Python run faster. Thus, I doubt he can boost/optimize Gentoo' portage performance.
<ukky>
Quote from article: "replacing software developed in older, less secure programming languages like C"
<ukky>
And another: "C is becoming less popular with the next generation of developers"
<ukky>
This quote is the best of all: "While Rust is better than C/C++ for security, these programs are often already very safe"... Human error shall not pass through.

ukky: zorz was able to point out an unreachable snippet of code in one of SiFuh's scripts, or something else that could be trimmed away for a slight savings in runtime memory usage. Maybe he could do the same for the Gentoo portage code, making it run just a little bit faster.
<ukky>
farkuhar: nah, zorz would not be hopping onto Gentoo after Void. He said either Void or OpenBSD.
<farkuhar>
The suggestion of Gentoo was based on the alignment with his fluency in Python. I'm not sure Void or OpenBSD would have as much use for zorz's Python prowess.

This channel's habit of exchanging the same tired pleasantries is not very stimulating, compared to the thorny discussion with darfo over in #crux.

i got jealeus, joined #crux

is zorz not using CRUX?
<zorz>
zorz very busy, settled with void.
<zorz>
farkuhar: this log is like reading Agatha Kristie

hahahaha
<ppetrov^>
now SiFuh will tell you about "the clowns in #void-linux"
<zorz>
he told me already :)
<zorz>
ahhahahahahahaha
<farkuhar>
zorz: Agatha Kristie? Reading that name makes me think of the clown in The Simpsons. Or maybe it was the juxtaposition of that name with ppetrov^ quoting SiFuh two lines later.
