ja_02: 👍 Also, if you want to take up Yangyu's patches and get the platform to a more complete state, you should probably chime in on the conversation in the thread atm.
<Tenkawa>
We noticed some movement on lore about the Spacemit-K1 this morning...anyone involved/got any insight to that development on the mainline front?
<Tenkawa>
(it spanned several days. just noticed the thread though this morning)
<Tenkawa>
We've got the vendor kernel working fairly well on 2 units here (Banana Pi F3) but it would be nice to see that make it to mainline
<conchuod>
Involved in the discussion I am.
<Tenkawa>
conchuod: oh are you one of the names in that thread?
<Tenkawa>
heheh
<conchuod>
Ye, I'm Conor :)
<Tenkawa>
Excellent. So far this has been a nice board to work on.
<conchuod>
ja_02 expressed interest in the development and both dlan and Yangyu were in here talking about it the other day. I'm more hopeful about that board than the k230.
<Tenkawa>
Not quite got SPI working yet though
<Tenkawa>
fixed an artificial cpu load issue yesterday that was bothering me
<conchuod>
tbf, my main interest in the platform is finding someone other than myself to look after it, not so much in the development since I don't have one :)
<Tenkawa>
"standard"remoteproc doesn't seem to play nice with it
<Tenkawa>
ahh
<Tenkawa>
2 of us both have one.. I'm spending all of my time on it right now
<Tenkawa>
I was tempted to get the DC-Roma to replace my dead PBP
<Tenkawa>
but I really don't "need" it

conchuod once i get it im probably either going to work on mmc driver or on clocks.clocking drivers are probably more important for everyone
<ja_02>
icenowy is super cool and im glad she has interest in this soc so im hoping she will also help me/us
<ja_02>
I'm also hesitant to put myself in the MAINTAINERS file as i am not particularly confident my reviews will be meaningful as im still quite new to working with the kernel.
<conchuod>
I dunno, if you have worked on the platform and know how it works and can test, it's better than the default which is me applying things that I know work. I just wanna have people (like the Sophgo guys) that will review the patches and test things.
<conchuod>
But if you're not comfortable that's perfectly okay too.
<conchuod>
It's your time, you don't have to spend it on/in a particular way.
ldevulder has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<ja_02>
As of now im no different then the Sophgo guys as i havent had experience with this platform yet. when i do i may feel confident enough to do so

👍
<conchuod>
palmer said that there's a few of the boards at rivos, and they may care about getting them properly supported if the toolchain etc test suites run well on them.
<dlan>
conchuod: ja_02: hi, I think the most important is the valuable time that people contribute, so more eyes on patch would be better, as Jisheng point out I also haven't contributed to kernel for long time.. and my initial goal for K1 is to at least get a working headless solution (emmc, pcie, ethernet..)
<dlan>
I know there is one guy working on clk, and I'm trying to sort other basic stuff (pinctrl, gpio, reset).. I will ping Yangyu to see if he willing to push the basic DT to a more solid state ..

I'm willing to debug/test whenever anyone wants to throw anything kernel related this way..

same

That's basicly what I spend my day doing right now
<ja_02>
LOL
<Tenkawa>
ja_02: I'm a retired dev... so I need to stay busy somehow... why not with my fav hobby?
<ja_02>
thats nice i just hope in 40yr when i retire i will still have the energy
<Tenkawa>
haahaa
<Tenkawa>
I lament they didn't have these computers when I started on this back in the late 70's lol
<palmer>
Ya, Jesse should have one now

I've been pleased at the speed once we got the RCU and the cpu hiccups fixed...the nvme io speed is decently fast and the network io is actually very good
<Tenkawa>
Getting the SPI to work is proving to be a bit more difficult
<Tenkawa>
appears to have memory addressing problems at first glance
<Tenkawa>
likely just a dts tweak
<Tenkawa>
but I see it in u-boot too so u-boot will probably need to be fixed too

In the RISC-V instruction set manual Volume II (Privileged achitechture), Paragraph 3.4 mention that "The pc is set to an implementation-defined reset vector.", In what document is this reset vector found?
<sorear>
an implementation-defined one hopefully provided by your core vendor
<sorear>
each core vendor can do something different here, so they need to provide their own documentation
<Loant>
Ok, is there a name for a document that usually contains this information?

about u-boot for jh7110 (Milk-V Mars), does LLVM/CLANG work? it seems OpenSBI works fine with LLVM, but u-boot(spl) doesn't work

I can see output from u-boot spl, but it couldn't load OpenSBI from SPI
