<Wizzup> I'm thinking that we need to get some maemo leste user channel that's bridged to various things
Daaanct12 has joined #maemo-leste
<Wizzup> not this one mind you
<Wizzup> xmpp/matrix/irc/mattermost
<Wizzup> just so that it's easier / more accepting for new users
<Wizzup> we'd keep this of course
<sicelo> i think bridging is fine. but not additional channel, until such point that there's really a lot of traffic to justify it
Twig has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<Wizzup> sicelo: hmmm ok
Daaanct12 has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Wizzup> sicelo: we could set up some matterhost and use it's bridging stuff
<Wizzup> its*
<Wizzup> sicelo: but also for more ... persistence when we have new people, I guess
<Wizzup> like people ask a question but then time out, and they never get an answer
<Wizzup> that's partially because they are not used to irc
<sicelo> matrix already has bridge to irc/libera, so i guess matrix users won't have a problem. maybe in wiki we could explain how they could connect to irc using matrix
<Wizzup> if matrix is what you think most people use
<Wizzup> I thought some public mattermost might also help
<sicelo> xmpp users will most definitely know how to use irc, i'd guess :-)
<sicelo> i just briefly checked mattermost ... seems fine, but i wonder if it's not another thing to be maintained, etc. with perhaps little gain
<Wizzup> sicelo: I guess what it offers is public channel backlog and easier to upload pictures of bugs etc
<Wizzup> that's why I said maybe we make some users channel there, not bridged to here
<Wizzup> not sure
<sicelo> i understand. i was also just adding my two cents. i don't really know what's the best way forward.
<Wizzup> let's discuss a bit and think about it some :)
<sicelo> but matrix is really popular nowadays, and seems to be a reasonable choice in general
<Wizzup> I need to go out now and we're not in a rush
<Wizzup> but making it more friendly to new people would be good

<norayr> Folks i dont know what changed but using an onscreen kbd is not possible anymore
<norayr> Enter doesnt work with both keyboard that is triggered by tapping an input field and by keyboard triggered by search button.
<norayr> On pp i switched to pmos - no way to type without hwkbd and hwkbd is too heavy to always carry and use
<norayr> I want but i just cannot use onscreen
<norayr> Without having a hardware enter key
<norayr> Both in dino and pidgin
<norayr> I am sorry this is not a rant at all, i want to draw your attention since it is the essential feature
<norayr> Its not possible to use a device without typing
<norayr> On bridges - i am using xmpp to irc bridge now
<Wizzup> yes, but that bridge is something you run
<Wizzup> we won't ask every new user to run their own
<Wizzup> re: input, file a bug I suppose
<Wizzup> I'm not excited to put in a lot of time to support dino/pidgin better, I will put my energy in conversations
<Wizzup> when it's usable, I might look at it
<Wizzup> but others might have time/energy

<norayr> Wizzup, i'll file a bug, i would like to stress again that is NOT about oidgin or dino, that is about EVERY gkt program. That is keyboard problem, not the programs' fault.

<Wizzup> but I do not have these problems in gtk2 or gtk3
<Wizzup> so best to file a bug

<buZz> did anyone notice receiving SMS sometimes makes the same SMS arrive endless many times? :)
<buZz> maybe i should just distupgrade to chimaera
<Wizzup> buZz: I noticed this on non-leste phones
rafael2k_ has joined #maemo-leste
<Wizzup> seemed like a carrier problem
<buZz> i'm not sure, its something i often hit
<buZz> but if i receive the SMS -straight- after bootup, it never comes 'many times'
<buZz> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
<buZz> its not a big issue i guess, was kinda wondering if the SMS have some unique ID so we can filter them away
