that's partially because they are not used to irc

matrix already has bridge to irc/libera, so i guess matrix users won't have a problem. maybe in wiki we could explain how they could connect to irc using matrix

i just briefly checked mattermost ... seems fine, but i wonder if it's not another thing to be maintained, etc. with perhaps little gain

Folks i dont know what changed but using an onscreen kbd is not possible anymore
