<tmlind> parazyd: is there an updated irc archive somewhere for the new channel? seems i missed some pings over past few days while offline but don't have the history
<tmlind> looks like the maedevu log is still the old freenode channel?
<parazyd> tmlind: The maedevu log is freenode plus last few days of this libera channel.
<parazyd> Just go from the bottom.
<parazyd> If it's not there, then whoever should ping you again, sorry.
<tmlind> parazyd: oh you're right, maedevu is up to date, sorry for the confusion
<parazyd> No worries :)
<parazyd> There's some hours missing though, when we just opened the channel, but I think not much is lost.
<tmlind> parazyd: yeah probably no need to try to merge them
<tmlind> hmm well i mean the overlapping messages on two channels
<parazyd> Yeah, it's fine really.
<tmlind> sicelo: i used the mainline kernel with alpine to test kexec on n900. but any reasonably new distro kexec binary should work
<tmlind> sicelo: also the kexec booting kernel needs to be reasonably new to tag the uncompressed image size to the new kernel image

<freemangordon> Wizzup: is it still syncing? as I just get "Failure" every time I try to build something
<Wizzup> freemangordon: just finished dinner, will free up the ssd now
<freemangordon> not sure I understand, however, do you have any clue why lel bot just reports "Failure"?
<Wizzup> freemangordon: I will investigate in ~15 mins
<freemangordon> ок, тханкс
<freemangordon> oops
<freemangordon> ok, thanks

<Wizzup> cool
<Wizzup> btw: s/Traveld/Travelled/ and s/Travled/Travelled/
<Wizzup> uvos: do you want to be the maintainer of this pkg? I just imported it, I don't really want to be the maintainer :)
<Wizzup> that is, I can just give you repo access
<uvos> sure ill take it
<Wizzup> I invited you to be 'Maintain' access
<Wizzup> I assume that's pretty much everything
<Wizzup> (for gpsrecorder)
<Wizzup> freemangordon: btw, related to connui, there is still a bug where if the dialog is shown by a program (rather than from status menu, I guess), the selection always fails
<freemangordon> Wizzup: do we have an issue?
<Wizzup> I am not sure
<Wizzup> Let me search
<freemangordon> ah, which reminds me I promised to uvos to create an issue about MB/sdl grab bug
<Wizzup> I think not
<freemangordon> could you open one with steps to repro and assign to me?

<freemangordon> Wizzup: any hint how to setup hidden wifi? without touching my router
<Wizzup> freemangordon: what I ended up doing for all the wifi devel is to use a wifi iface on linux and set it up with hostapd
<Wizzup> either some usb or internal one
<Wizzup> so you'd just need a tutorial on how to do hidden ssid with hostapd, which I think is quite simple
<Wizzup> something like this basicaly: https://leste.maemo.org/Status/Wireless
<Wizzup> I suppose you could even use the leste droid4 and create a hidden AP on it ;)
diejuse has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<Wizzup> full disclose I never tried a hidden AP
<Wizzup> disclosure*
<freemangordon> ok
<freemangordon> I have laptops around, will play with them
<uvos> several users have claimed that hidden aps dont work
<freemangordon> and one USB dongle with atheros chip which allows infrastructure mode
<freemangordon> uvos: I am on th eissue
<uvos> ah
<freemangordon> that's why I need hidden network to test with
<uvos> ah understand
<uvos> yes hostapd is a good bet
<freemangordon> thanks
<uvos> btw fixed ips dont work
<uvos> they just get ignored
<uvos> may be related
<uvos> the dialog appears to just not save the values
<uvos> ie you can add a fixed ip and it will just forget it if you close the dialog
<freemangordon> ok, will check

<Wizzup> freemangordon: oh, I didn't realise that code uses wlancond
<Wizzup> freemangordon: can't it get these properties from icd2?
<Wizzup> freemangordon: hm, not sure I understand what wlancond used for here exactly
<freemangordon> I guess cap_bits is the most important thing
<Wizzup> I went through a lot of trouble to get all these capabilities mapped through wpa_supplicant already
<freemangordon> but you already did that :)
<Wizzup> freemangordon: sorry, I'm just not sure why easy-wlan needs to talk to wlancond or wpa_supplicant at all, as in, I don't understand it, not opposed to it
<freemangordon> mhm, you already have it
<Wizzup> shouldn't icd2 IAPs already give it all the info?
<freemangordon> it tries to get caps, to know which dialogs to show
<freemangordon> Wizzup: no, we're connecting to a hidden wlan
<Wizzup> which keys are used for that?
<Wizzup> gconf ones
<freemangordon> why gcoonf?
<freemangordon> I am trying to set-up a new hidden connection
<freemangordon> it is not in gconf
<Wizzup> let me try to do it on my d4 here, I never tried
<freemangordon> won't work
<freemangordon> Wizzup: without a fix I just did locally (REing issue), it won;t even ask for SSID
<Wizzup> freemangordon: I understand, but it's not clear why the wizard needs to talk to wlanconf to me still
<Wizzup> is this to get capabilities based on an active scan?
<freemangordon> yes
<Wizzup> I am opening it on fremantle atm
<freemangordon> it asks for SSID then issues a scan to get the caps
<Wizzup> how do I enter the hidden wifi wizard?
<Wizzup> ah, you say 'no' to the scan
<Wizzup> and then there is a checkbox: 'Network is hidden'
<freemangordon> hmm? what is this?
<Wizzup> freemangordon: I am trying to reproduce what you are doing and where you get stuck
<freemangordon> in control panel?
<Wizzup> yes
<freemangordon> no, use status menu
<Wizzup> well, I have no hidden AP here
<freemangordon> I see
<Wizzup> so what caps are there to scan for?
<freemangordon> seems there is another issue when you setup the connection manually
<freemangordon> Wizzup: security
<freemangordon> like wep/wpa2 etc
<Wizzup> mhm
<Wizzup> so there are two 'issues': (1) connecting to a hidden AP at all (let's say created from settings) (2) hidden AP 'easy-wlan' wizard
<freemangordon> also, I almost am sure "unable to connect the first time" bug is the same issue https://github.com/maemo-leste/connui-internet/commit/181b42acf295ca32812ad6330e36c556d90cb3cb
<freemangordon> Wizzup: yep, looks like
<Wizzup> What is 'unable to connect the first time' exactly?
<Wizzup> (which bugnumber)
<freemangordon> I don;t think we have an issue
<Wizzup> ah, ok
<freemangordon> because it invokes the same iap_run_easy_wlan_dialogs() where the condition is wrong
<Wizzup> it also happens for dummy connections, though

<freemangordon> hmm, I added that hidden network from control panel, but it does not appear in the status menu list of networks
<Wizzup> well, wpa_supplicant won't list it as part of it's scan results
<Wizzup> remind me, does a hidden network just not list it's ssid, or does it also not broadcast
<freemangordon> actually, I think it does
<freemangordon> just not list ssid
<freemangordon> IIUC
<freemangordon> it lists it with empty ssid
<Wizzup> if you type scan_results in 'wpa_cli', it the bssid shown?
<Wizzup> s/it the/is the/
<freemangordon> no wpa_cli here
<freemangordon> but I dont; think wpa_supplicant is to blame
<uvos> yes hidden ssids just dont list ssid they do broadcast
<Wizzup> well, it is possible that libicd-network-wpasupplicant doesn't do the right thing
<uvos> its the most useless security feature eve
<uvos> r
<freemangordon> no, it is connui
<freemangordon> but I'll investigate tomorrow
<Wizzup> is it aka 'privacy' ?
<freemangordon> enough for today, good night
<Wizzup> no, that's a WEP thing
<Wizzup> ok, gn
<Wizzup> freemangordon: so it looks like gconfmap.c in libicd-network-wpasupplicant doesn't handle wlan_hidden gconf keys yet
<Wizzup> this can be/become a problem when trying to connect
<freemangordon> Wizzup: but, before that, this network should be selectable in the list
<freemangordon> it is not
<freemangordon> gn
