I think delivery drivers these days are diversity hires.
<remiliascarlet>
They keep delivering to the wrong apartment, wrong building, or even can't manage to find the destination address as they just pass by, only to turn back and drive in circles.
<remiliascarlet>
Or if you don't want to sound "racist", just swap "diversity hires" with "modern software developers".
<SiFuh>
I was watching one today. For about 40 minutes. He parked at a 45 degree angle on the road so everyone was driving around him. He was constantly looking at his phone then packages. I think he lost one. He looked on the back seat driver's side, then in the boot (trunk), then back seat passenger's side, then the front seat passenger's side then back to the back seat again on the driver's side after
<SiFuh>
leaving packages on the roof of his car. It started to rain, and probably 10 minutes into the rain, he remembered there are packages on the roof. He raced around to the passenger's side and put the soggy boxes on the back seat. Then he jumped into the front passenger's side. Maybe 15 minutes goes by before he can't find what he is looking for and then he jumps into the driver's seat and sped off.
<SiFuh>
No delivery the entire time.
<remiliascarlet>
Hard to deliver something you don't know you have.
<SiFuh>
I delivered a pizza and I didn't realise why the recipients were very excited. When I delivered to the second house, I realised why. I switched the orders mistakenly.
<remiliascarlet>
But this is why Boeing airplanes keep having problems these days too, because they're built by Javascript developers/diversity hires.

Didn't he trip up stairs?

I laughed at my friend because he fell over at the bottom of his driveway, but ended up hitting the ground at the top of the driveway.

<SiFuh>
Maybe you did, because that was very bad grammar. Hahaha
<SiFuh>
zorz_: No we were too young
<zorz_>
ok
<SiFuh>
:-P
<zorz_>
i finished set up the dual boot... and i did not change the fat16 of openbsd to fat32... so vmlinuz could not run... so fuck linux. full openbsd.
<remiliascarlet>
Dualbooting always sucks, regardless the combination of operating systems.
<remiliascarlet>
If you really have to dual boot, I rather recommend you have multiple physical SSD's for that, and pick the SSD you want to boot from in BIOS's boot menu (usually when you spam the F12 key).
<zorz_>
i had only one issue with speed running a python library, which i solve it by compiling Levenhstein. so its ok.
<remiliascarlet>
I never had any problems coding in Python. This is because I never coded in Python to begin with.
<remiliascarlet>
All I know about Python is that it constantly breaks after updating your Linux distro packages.
<zorz_>
remiliascarlet: the only thing that sucks with openbsd making GPT full disk install is that after you need to run a program like sysrescue to make with efibootmgr the entry of bootx64.img
<remiliascarlet>
And?
<zorz_>
if you do not want to use refind or grub or syslinux
<remiliascarlet>
If your BIOS settings is set to legacy boot, you're of course not using UEFI.
<SiFuh>
zorz_: DO NOT SET TO LEGACY
<remiliascarlet>
He said he did.
<zorz_>
iam not legacy
<remiliascarlet>
"remiliascarlet | Set your BIOS to legacy boot," "zorz_ | i did it and finish..."
<zorz_>
the point is that the installer, as you notice... does not copy the bootx64.efi to a folder
<SiFuh>
This is the laptop right
<zorz_>
i did not write fibootmgr -c -d /dev/nvme0n1 -L 'OpenBSD 7.4' -l '\EFI\BOOT\bootx64.efi' -u 'root=/dev/nvme0n1p2'
<zorz_>
i wrote fibootmgr -c -d /dev/nvme0n1 -L 'OpenBSD 7.4' -l 'bootx64.efi' -u 'root=/dev/nvme0n1p2'
<SiFuh>
zorz_: This is the laptop?
<zorz_>
yes
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: If he managed to figure out how to set it to legacy. He will not be online now
<remiliascarlet>
You know what's funny? FreeBSD is said to be suitable for desktop users, and OpenBSD is said to be suitable for servers. And yet OpenBSD can manage laptop lid to sleep without problems, but FreeBSD either won't go to sleep at all, or will fall in a coma.
<zorz_>
iam telling you GPT installation copys the bootx66.efi straigt to the / of the partition does not place it in a directory like boot or efi
<zorz_>
the efi dir, has a strange file not readable.
<SiFuh>
Depends where OpenBSD is anyway. But I'd go for the remiliascarlet way of using two SSDs
<SiFuh>
You know what is really cool zorz_ ? I don't need efibootmgr with OpenBSD
<zorz_>
man 1tb ssd i do not know what to do with it
<zorz_>
what do you do ?
<remiliascarlet>
Wipe your butt with it?
<zorz_>
tell me the trick
<SiFuh>
OpenBSD shouldn't even be in UEFI if it is on the bootable nvme
<SiFuh>
That laptop only requires efibootmgr for external drives
<SiFuh>
zorz_: I have two external 8TB each SSD that I am battling for space on
<zorz_>
do not know
<remiliascarlet>
Or set your PC to legacy boot, and install OpenBSD again.
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: NO
<zorz_>
remiliascarlet: why to install it again ?
<zorz_>
we gonna play with installations.
<remiliascarlet>
Because if you put to legacy boot, you can't boot a EFI OS, and vice versa.
<SiFuh>
To do that, he must open the hidden menu. If he does enable it, his laptop will NEVER BOOT. He needs to then dismantle the laptop, unscrew the main board, rip up all the tape and dust shielding, unplug the BIOS/CMOS battery and wait a few seconds.
<SiFuh>
This laptop WILL NOT BOOT in legacy mode. Hence it being hidden
<SiFuh>
His laptop is a UEFI only laptop and the same model as mine
<zorz_>
this laptop... is a good machine, did not expected to be so good when i bought it.
<remiliascarlet>
In the past, you needed skill to beat the final boss, so you can unlock the hidden BIOS menu. Nowadays, you need a credit card to pay for the right to use the not so hidden BIOS menu.
<SiFuh>
No, the BIOS is universal. Rather than ripping out the unneeded options they just conceal it with a cheat code.
<SiFuh>
It's cheaper than finding and deleting what you don't need
<remiliascarlet>
Man, games with cheat codes is pretty nostalgic.

sifuh on loadind the efifb says not configured fo i need this for color console ?
<SiFuh>
OpenBSD provides a colour console
<SiFuh>
You see blue and white on boot right?
<zorz_>
yes
<SiFuh>
That it is colour
<zorz_>
so no... haha stupid
<remiliascarlet>
Color console is in every OS these days I think.

SiFuh: I only don't understand why that guy suddenly goes from talking about Antarctica to ancient cities of the Roman Empire and/or Egypt.
<SiFuh>
Graham Hancock's work is very good. You should check out his Younder Dryas stuff.
<remiliascarlet>
But still, what has a sunken city in/near Egypt have to do with Antarctica once having been a jungle?
<SiFuh>
I think you are out of place
<SiFuh>
His stuff covers the entire planet for specific events throughout human history
<remiliascarlet>
Then why not write the title accordingly?
<SiFuh>
So for example Younger Dryas affected the entire planet so he will bounce around between different places.
<SiFuh>
Whomever wrote the title and made the video was a bit of a fool
