I don't see why you even need JavaScript for just a blog.
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: I found out what happened. Even though I disabled the EFI on my OpenBSD NVME, Ubuntu still managed to find it and install an ubunutu efi image on it as well as the EFI on the USB drive.
<SiFuh>
Suprised it fit actually since OpenBSD's EFI partition is quite tiny
<remiliascarlet>
So yeah, a frequency issue.
<SiFuh>
Fscking Ubuntu
<SiFuh>
Fscking CRUX as well
<SiFuh>
My home partition is ext2 and CRUX isn't allowing my user to write to the home directory.
<SiFuh>
Probably a frequency issue
<SiFuh>
Anyways, doesn't worry me. I need more disk space so I will kill the swap partition and create a swapfile instead and make /home larger and change to f2fs
<SiFuh>
I already ran ports -u opt and half way through compiling it now
<zorz>
the only thing i dont get is the window in mpv was exactly the dimensions of the moview playing.
<zorz>
all the rest... is amazing.
<SiFuh>
I use mpv for vidoes and movies
<SiFuh>
I use ffplay for cctv
<zorz>
nice new years present :)
<SiFuh>
I have my mpv open all videos the same size
<remiliascarlet>
Happy New Year!
<lavaball>
gay.
<zorz>
SiFuh: i mean the borders of the window.
<zorz>
mpv adapts at the size of the movie.
<zorz>
the pseudo gui thing in mpv adapts at the size of the play.
<SiFuh>
Mine doesn't
<zorz>
anyway ... it is a nice thing for me to get rid of mpv.
<lavaball>
why you no like mpv?
<remiliascarlet>
Because he's a Muslim, and got triggered by the Santa hat.
<SiFuh>
I don't see ffplay in the new ffmpeg
<remiliascarlet>
Though I highly doubt anyone in Northern Africa, Middle East, or South-East Asia even care about the Santa hat, it's only the Muslims living in the woke west that tend to get offended by it.
<SiFuh>
No worries, there is an --enable-ffplay in the Pkgfile so it is probably an optional dependency that is missing
<zorz>
SiFuh: ok

I thought it was VLC that introduced the Santa hat, not mpv.
<zorz>
SiFuh hat
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: It does and I have it disabled
<farkuhar>
By the way, the x264-10bit wrapper still drops all arguments passed on the command line. You would think that after all these version bumps, someone would remember to append "$@" on the line that calls ffmpeg.
<lavaball>
zorz, you muslim?
<lavaball>
what?
<zorz>
lavaball: nope orthodox
<lavaball>
what's orthodox?
<lavaball>
jew?
<lavaball>
greek?
<lavaball>
you believe in zeus and the lightning bolt?
<zorz>
christian orthodox, greeks, bulgarians, serbians, russians
<lavaball>
i see. so you hoping for a muslim to decapitate you.
<zorz>
lavaball: i live in Mt Olympus, i have been many times, on Zeus throne.

Zeus throne is called the top of the mountain.
<lavaball>
everyting is a dildo if you are brave enough, i guess.
<zorz>
away from my Ass whole... & let it be elsewhere!
<lavaball>
that still doesn't explain why you no like mpv.
<lavaball>
the santa bullshit has been assimilated by the jesus people.
<lavaball>
so i doubt that's that.
<lavaball>
furthermore, how do you even see these santa hats? what do i have to install?
<SiFuh>
NEW -rwxr-xr-x root/root usr/bin/ffplay
<SiFuh>
I installed sdl2 zorz
<zorz>
SiFuh: u deceiving...
<zorz>
i needed sdl2 for mpv.
<zorz>
lavaball: i like mpv... i dont like recompiling mpv every now and then... and if you can avoided like using ffmpeg, because mpv depends on ffmpeg... is quite straight forward simplicity
<farkuhar>
lavaball: you have to install VLC to see the Santa hat.
<zorz>
or install netflix
<lavaball>
mpv doesn't have a hat even?!
<lavaball>
also where would i see this head anyway? they don't show up in terminals, right?
<farkuhar>
the erroneous association between Santa hat and mpv was made by remiliascarlet, who is known to install a richer set of fonts than the average CRUX user does. Maybe with those fonts installed, you can see a Santa hat in the terminal.
<lavaball>
remiliascarlet, you have one of those ubuntu desktops? with the icons and the windows and like a picture in the background?
<SiFuh>
zorz: doesn't mpv use ffplay as a backend?
<zorz>
i dont know, i know mpv with no ffmpeg... is nothing.
<zorz>
SiFuh: most probably not, because i did not have ffplay all the time.
<remiliascarlet>
lavaball: Last time I used Ubuntu was back in 2009 on version 9.10, the last version that was actually good.
<remiliascarlet>
And I was just joking about the Santa hat, it's something VLC users complain about every single year.
<remiliascarlet>
Luckily the VLC developer isn't cucked, so he just tells them to go fuck themselves.
<lavaball>
i gave them 20 bucks when i found out they had the speed up feature.
<lavaball>
i would have given money to mpv as well, but there doesn't seem to be an organisation or something to put money to.
<lavaball>
anyway, vlc doesn't work so great for me on linux, so i switched years ago to mpv. can recommend.

<remiliascarlet>
Other than the fake news media and brainlets that is.
<lavaball>
i know you never bought it, but it's endemic now.
<lavaball>
but this is obvious propaganda to mask the vax deaths.
<SiFuh>
I still don't beleive it ever existed
<lavaball>
i'm aware.
<lavaball>
doesn't add up though.
<SiFuh>
Of course, nothing doesn't add up to anything
<lavaball>
nah, a lot of things are plausible. the virus denial just isn't one of them.

<ppetrov^>
did the ney year come already, SiFuh
<SiFuh>
Which one
<zorz>
haha
<zorz>
ppetrov^: no need to worry for mpv, we have ffplay now.
<farkuhar>
zorz: ffplay was enabled in the Pkgfile by commit a1f75e8772ecb47a61d45012ebf2d0adae7e306d (2019-08-31). But as SiFuh suggested, maybe in a clean container there's a missing dependency that disables this option, so usr/bin/ffplay does not appear in the footprint.
<SiFuh>
It needs sdl2
<zorz>
farkuhar: it is nice... to have it so we dont need to compile mpv.
<ppetrov^>
zorz, i was not worries about mpv
<zorz>
ppetrov^: ooo :)
<farkuhar>
In the contrib repo, commit 70f0f586e5a6bb0b769e19bc644f6dad6e968097 introduced the libsdl2 dependency, which was later reverted (while still keeping the --enable-ffplay configure option). https://lists.crux.nu/pipermail/crux/2018-April/005753.html
<farkuhar>
So the 2019-08-31 commit is only noteworthy for introducing a discontinuity when reading the git history. Prior to that date you need to read the ports/contrib log; after 2019-08-31 you need to read the ports/opt log.
<SiFuh>
ppetrov^: Two days ago some clown was letting off fireworks around lunchtime. Today there was a fart, pop, whistle and a meow and that was it. So I guess he spent all his ammunition the otherday. So no one really noticed new years roll over.
<farkuhar>
I'm still trying to determine whether the wrapper script ffmpeg-x264-10bit.sh ever passed command-line arguments to the ffmpeg process. As far as I can tell, there's never been "$@" on the line that calls ffmpeg.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Do you know what the ^@ is when booting CRUX?
<SiFuh>
Maybe I can put it the old echo "1" and counting throughout the rc script to help hunt it down
<SiFuh>
Just put a hole heap of echo "T minus 11" and so on until hostname so next time I reboot, I can check it on boot up
<SiFuh>
hole/whole
<SiFuh>
I might ask in #crux-devel
<ppetrov^>
SiFuh, i hate the 'fireworks' that just go _boom_ and that's it
<SiFuh>
I hate fireworks
<SiFuh>
I use to make fireworks back in 2008 and 2009 for the festivities when I was living in KL. But I never really stuck around to see them. I did see a couple, but usually I just go to the pub with ear plugs and drink beer
