<remiliascarlet> KFC is out of chicken apart from nuggets (which I'm not going to try), so I made my own Christmas chicken.
<remiliascarlet> Whatever you do, avoid Disney's chicken, they will make it lame and gay.
<remiliascarlet> Maybe for the better, because KFC will most likely fry on seed oil, which is very bad for your health.
<SiFuh> Vegetable oil too
<SiFuh> Basically anything that is refined is toxic

<remiliascarlet> I consider vegetable oil and seed oil to be synonymous.
ppetrov^ has joined #crux-social
<SiFuh> Homemade vegetable is better
<SiFuh> Homemade seed oil is super easy to make
<remiliascarlet> Just butter is all I need when it comes to the means to cooking.
<SiFuh> I use duck fat, tallow and sometimes lard
<SiFuh> I even use it for making bread
<SiFuh> I've a friend that only uses Ghee
<remiliascarlet> I tried ghee before, but it tasted disgusting.
<remiliascarlet> Or was it lard? Either of the 2 anyway.
<remiliascarlet> The packaging said it's pork fat.
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: This is what Suwako-chan (the one who runs the "suwaports" collection on CRUX) sent me, you gonna love this! https://social.076.moe/attachment/6132b92e759878da653345df3cfd860579f68a4468648c18d1bdd3d62bf9b65d/view
<remiliascarlet> Clearly she hates the rainbow terrorists.
<SiFuh> Pork fat is Lard
<remiliascarlet> Then it was lard that was disgusting.
<SiFuh> I tend to avoid it myself
<SiFuh> Duck fat is the best though
<SiFuh> And any of the grass fed Tallows
<remiliascarlet> I ordered a whole duck earlier today, should arrive tomorrow.
<SiFuh> Cool, what recipe?
<remiliascarlet> The duck still has its head on.
<SiFuh> Same here when I go and get it
<remiliascarlet> I'll probably just grill it, nothing else.
<SiFuh> Hmm
<SiFuh> I wash it and dry it, and smother it in herbs and spices inside and out, then leave in the refrigerator for 24 hours uncovered.
<remiliascarlet> Sounds like a good idea, because I'm intending on doing a 24 hour water fast tomorrow, starting from my Christmas meal a few hours ago.
<remiliascarlet> So I'm already fasting.
<SiFuh> Then I chop up apples, garlic, onion and 2 x 1/4 slices of lemon and shove it inside the duck. I add a little wine to bottom of the dish, stick the duck in upside-down and bake it. Then cover in foil and bake more, then flip it and still covered in foil bake more, then remove the foil and throw in potatoes and onions and garlic and bake until the skin is golden brown.
<remiliascarlet> Yeah, that's the part I'll skip.
<SiFuh> Haha, yeah. 30 minutes for the first bake, 1 hour for the second and third foil bakes and usually 20 minutes to 30 minutes for the final bake and 15 minutes rest
<SiFuh> It's a long job but the end result is fantastic
<SiFuh> Temperature is 180 Celsius for baking
<SiFuh> Right now my oven is in use. I am using alpha amylase enzymes to convert crushed dried corn's starch into a sugar I can ferment for making my whiskey
<SiFuh> Why only a 24 hour fast?
<remiliascarlet> Because I'm testing it out for the first time.
<remiliascarlet> Haven't done a fast before.
<SiFuh> Oh, okay. That kind of fasting is only for bacterial infections and stuff
<SiFuh> I knew a guy who was very healthy and fit. He fasted every Sunday.
<SiFuh> My favorite is the beer fast. ;-) You don't eat anything for like 14 days and only drink beer. But I recommend only drinking warm beer
<SiFuh> The only problem is on day 15 trying to get your body to accept eating again ;-)
<remiliascarlet> Not sure if I can survive a fast this long.
<SiFuh> It gets easier the longer you do it. Your body stops feeling hungry. Maybe because of ketosis?
<remiliascarlet> Actually makes sense. When I was younger, I jokingly called it the "gamer diet".
<SiFuh> I am not a huge fan of eating myself. I actually dislike eating. I just eat to survive not to enjoy it
<remiliascarlet> Because I was so focussed on gaming, I got hungry, but didn't eat, and then I suddenly stopped being hungry.
<SiFuh> So I have often skipped multiple days without eating in a row
<remiliascarlet> And only got hungry after putting at least something in my mouth.
<SiFuh> The more you eat, the hungrier you will become the next day
<remiliascarlet> Which explains why so many vegans report to struggle with fasting, and carnivores consider it very easy.
<remiliascarlet> And omnivores being somewhere in the middle.
<SiFuh> Well I mostly like to eat fried rice with vegetables or stir fried mixed vegetables with rice.
<SiFuh> And one egg of course
<remiliascarlet> Because as a carnivore you normally eat only once a day, and then you're not hungry all day long, whereas vegans tend to eat all the time, and still get hungry.
<SiFuh> I saw a documentary that was opposite to what your video was saying, see if I can find it.
<remiliascarlet> No need, because pretty much every single video in Japanese will tell you how bad eating only meat is and how you're supposed to eat everything.
<SiFuh> No this one was about a vegetarian diet.
<remiliascarlet> English videos tend to be either "meat is all you need, fuck veggies", or "veggies is all you need, fuck meat".
<SiFuh> Yeah
<remiliascarlet> I also keep seeing that vegans are all about taking supplements and carnivores are all about not needing them, vegans are into climatism and carnivores are not, there's almost nothing the 2 sides can agree on.
<remiliascarlet> Even when it comes to sugary sweets, vegans tend to not mind it at all, whereas carnivores tend to be absolutely against it.
<SiFuh> It was called "Game Changers"
<remiliascarlet> Vegans are anti-fat, and carnivores are anti-carbs.
<SiFuh> “Someone asked me, ‘How could you get as strong as an ox without eating any meat?’ And my answer was, ‘Have you ever seen an ox eat meat?’”
<SiFuh> Sugar makes me vomit
<remiliascarlet> I know that vegetarians are different from vegans. Vegetarian to vegans is what keto is to carnivores. Look, even the amount of syllables are flipped between the 2 sides!

<ppetrov^> happy holidays
<ppetrov^> yep, SiFuh, i know that
<SiFuh> Excellent, I like the little additions that make it even more funny
<farkuhar> Re: https://www.spacedaily.com/news/food-03d.html ... while 130 days of fasting is an impressive feat for our species, the gestating octopus routinely lasts longer without any food. One octo-mom was observed guarding her eggs for 4+ years!

<remiliascarlet> I noticed that the PinePhone battery has become pretty decent recently. I accidentally forgot to hook it into a charger, and 6 hours later it only lost 10% battery life, and I didn't even suspend it. In comparison, it used to go all the way to 0% in only 2 hours for a very long time.
<SiFuh> Hmm
<SiFuh> I charge my phone once a month.
<SiFuh> Good thing it isn't a smart phone
<remiliascarlet> I miss those times.
<remiliascarlet> ISPs are just fucking evil! They outright force you into buying a new phone by simply not supporting their SIM cards on specific models, which they can change whenever they want.
<SiFuh> I just checked, it has a 2680 mAh battery
<remiliascarlet> Since they have no idea what a PinePhone is, that one will work forever.
<SiFuh> It's called Network locking. Just unlock the phone
<remiliascarlet> But a Pixel 3 for example gets flatout rejected.
<remiliascarlet> The phone is unlocked.
<remiliascarlet> They do this on the SIM card level, not phone model level.
<SiFuh> Right frequency?
<remiliascarlet> A Rakuten SIM card used to work on a Pixel 3, and then it suddenly stopped working just because they decided to no longer support that specific model.
<SiFuh> I buy China phones. I never have an issue. The only phone I ever bought that sucked was a Japanese phone. It worked only when it wanted too
<SiFuh> Freetel's Musashi flip phone <-- The Japanese phone
<remiliascarlet> It seems like a blacklist is at play, because if I put this same SIM card into a PinePhone, portable WiFi router, or even a laptop with a SIM card slot, it works.
<remiliascarlet> Put that SIM card into an iPhone 14, and it works. Put it into an iPhone 11, and it doesn't.
<SiFuh> Sounds like a frequency issue
<remiliascarlet> It's not a frequency issue.
<SiFuh> Freetel's Musashi flip phone worked fine under certain towers.
<remiliascarlet> That SIM card literally used to work on the Pixel 3, until it didn't.
<SiFuh> Looks like a frequency issue
<remiliascarlet> Then again, phones are controlled by either Google or Apple, they're also controlled by providers and governments, you can't just tinker around with them, neither can you just open it and fix it yourself without damaging it or voiding your warrenty, they break after a certain amount of time (both Samsung and Apple even proudly brag about it), providers decide what phone you can use and what
<remiliascarlet> phone you can't, and then they wonder why I hate smartphones so much.
<remiliascarlet> Like I said, it's not a frequency issue.
<SiFuh> Seems the Pixel 3 only supports 4G channel 3 and 5 in Japan.
<SiFuh> That's a huge fucking frequency issues, so limited
<remiliascarlet> And yet I used to use the same SIM card on it in the past without any issues.
<remiliascarlet> So it's not a fucking frequency issue.
<SiFuh> It's a fuckign frequency issue
<remiliascarlet> Whatever, believe whatever you want I guess.
<SiFuh> Hahah
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Did you mean this phone? https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=6m40gUZA8ek
<remiliascarlet> Having screens on both sides looks like a total disaster.
<SiFuh> That part was fine
<SiFuh> It was the reception that wasn't
<SiFuh> Ancient phone anyway these days
<SiFuh> I just stick with Blackview and Ulefone.
<remiliascarlet> Funny how phones get considered "ancient" after 3 years, but laptops are still considered "new" after 10 years.
<remiliascarlet> I believe among the ThinkPads, the line between "ancient" and "modern" seems to be with the X61/T61/W61 models, the first 64-bit laptops.
<SiFuh> The Blackview P10000 was the longest phone I ever owned until it died this year. 28th of December 2018 until sometime during 2023
<remiliascarlet> Meanwhile, my laptop is from 2008, and it still isn't going to die anytime soon.
<SiFuh> The battery was dying too. Use to piss me off having to charge it every 11 days. Use to be 50 days.
<SiFuh> Current phone is a Blackview N6000 with a solid state battery
<remiliascarlet> Speaking of death, apparently there's a convenience store without staff, and the cash register even knows what product you got even without scanning the barcode: https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=MEwrH2_CDig
<remiliascarlet> Mine is a PhonePhone, and I'll just use it until it one day stops working completely, and then I'll get a PinePhone Pro. All I do with it is making phone calls anyway.
<SiFuh> What a horrible voice that machine has
<remiliascarlet> If the ISPs decide to blacklist the PinePhones, I'll consider getting a landline at that point.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: In the truck I have a Ulefone Power Armor 13. I don't use it as a phone. It has no USIM inside either. I just strictly use it as a GPS and since the battery life is insane, I barely charge in a year.
<SiFuh> It has no internet connection at all
<SiFuh> Just offline GPS maps
<remiliascarlet> I got so used to just checking maps on my PC before going somewhere, I never even need GPS.
<SiFuh> Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads.
<remiliascarlet> It's like "go to this station on this line from this platform, change to this station on this line, get out of the station, walk straight until you get to the main road, turn right when you see a 7-11, turn left when you see a kebab shop, and there it is".
<SiFuh> In Australia we have UBD's and Topographical maps that are perfect for anywhere you wish to go. Here in Malaysia I can't find either.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: Ahh, you don't drive
<remiliascarlet> Japan's public transport is so good, it's hard to find a reason to get a car.
<remiliascarlet> Unless you live in the middle of fucking nowhere.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: https://s3.amazonaws.com/i.snag.gy/t8rMFK.jpg My truck
<SiFuh> Imported from Japan to Malaysia
<remiliascarlet> Gives me the jungle vibes.
<SiFuh> I have everything ready for this weekend. All stacked up near the door.
<SiFuh> Only phone that works out there is my Satellite phone
<SiFuh> One thing that suprised me here compared to Australia is that the UHF and VHF radio channels are dead. I have never heard a single person talk yet.
<SiFuh> In Australia if I open the UHF radio there is so much life
<SiFuh> In Australia I would open up Channel 40 for very long road trips and talk to the truckers and other listeners. Keeps you awake. Actually there was one time I was on the AM CB talking to a trucker, hand I drove from QLD to VIC and that is a 2 day drive.
<SiFuh> hand/he and*
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: No way to buy that with CRYPTO in Japan yet?
<SiFuh> Talking about the video of the no barcode scan
<SiFuh> Ohhhhh, I see how it is working https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=LQv0Xv5xq9I
lavaball has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: "No way to buy that with CRYPTO in Japan yet?" The question should be rather, "No way to buy CRYPTO in Japan yet?"
<remiliascarlet> Well, there are ways, but Japanese exchanges are fundamentally broken as none of them even send out confirmation emails, foreign exchanges don't accept Japanese customers because of the very strict regulations here they can't comply with, and there's very few people who use Bisq, and those who use it either want you to use a bank (so dox yourself) or Wise (which hates me).
<SiFuh> Oh no... Archer (2009) series has been cancelled :'-(
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: "Ohhhhh, I see how it is working https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=LQv0Xv5xq9I" Pretty funny to see how they assumed from the very beginning that only westerners are going to try it out for real. Very western style globohomo "art" depicting a nigger pulling up 2 middle fingers, a bulky as fuck guy with gigantic arms + chest and tiny as fuck legs, and extremely obese WAHMANS, and a
<remiliascarlet> smartphone addicted backpacker.
<SiFuh> Touch to go. Hahaha We have Touch'n go here. It was created to replace cash when using toll booths. Now it can be used anywhere
