<zorz> bonjour

<zorz> SiFuh: Privet ?

<zorz> Спасибо
<zorz> SiFuh: how are you today?
<SiFuh> Tired, spent a large portion of my day making 180 proof alcohol. My experiment failed. Guess I need to push it to something closer to 198 proof I guess
<zorz> ?
<zorz> is it posible?
<zorz> 190 proof is like kerozine.... for planes and i think 190 is the max u can get.
<SiFuh> Yeah, you can push it to about 99% but you will never get 100% due to the azeotropic 'effect'(?) Effect might be the wrong word here
<SiFuh> I have the equipment to get it close to 99%. I tend to not use it though because it strips all the flavour out of the vodka/moonshine and you basically just endup with ethanol flavoured ethanol.
<zorz> SiFuh: amazing man. did not know.
<SiFuh> For me to reach 99% I will use bubbler plates. Probably a small distiller with 4 bubbler plates and a 2" inch collumn
<zorz> no clue man, no idea.
<SiFuh> Something like that.
<SiFuh> I have a dephlegmator and able to assemble something similar to this with a shotgun condesor for the product
<zorz> let me see it, i was saving python files.
<zorz> SiFuh: ok.... but you need heat underneeth this thing, no?
<SiFuh> Of course
<zorz> i know my uncle has a distilary makes homemade raki, from grapes, its grapa.
<SiFuh> Grapa was made on an episode of Moonshiners
<SiFuh> Oops that video is for oils
<SiFuh> Maybe better you watch this one
<zorz> the video for oils,,, so nice youtube makes everything looks so easy!!!!
<zorz> copper is the distilery of my uncle.
<SiFuh> When I am working on a 100 litre distiller it takes 4 hours to heat up if I start very early in the morning like 5am. If I start around 10 am it only takes me 2 hours.
<SiFuh> You can use most metals, even aluminium. I use Stainless Steel and then use copper mesh stuffed into the arm
<SiFuh> Copper is good because hydrogen sulfide sticks to it and you are basically filtering out of your final product as it travels through the system
<SiFuh> I know guys with copper stills that never clean it. This is bad. It must be cleaned after use and cleaned before use.
<zorz> if you dont clean the copper stills, danger cancer.
<SiFuh> No idea, never looked into. I know it makes your product taste like shit over time.
<zorz> that is the reason that i dont drink homemade alcohol in greece.
<SiFuh> Cancer?
<zorz> yes
<SiFuh> Homemade alcohol is usually safer and better quality than corporate shit.
<zorz> i new that is a problem and you need to clean the copper thing with a traditional way but did not know it was so bad since i did a small research. There is a perfecture in greece that they consume lots of homemade tsipouro aka raki, kind of traadition. Statitistics from hospitals show that liver cancer over there is very high.
<SiFuh> Unless the guy who is distilling is an idiot and decides to mix methanol into your drink or gives you the first portion (The heads) from the distiller.
<SiFuh> Alcohol + Liver :-)
<SiFuh> Be back later
<zorz> HAHA

<farkuhar> Looks like traffic.megaphone.fm is another host with flaky transfer encoding. Quite a few podcasts use that host for streaming MP3s, and lately firefox has been stopping playback abruptly after just a few minutes of streaming.
<farkuhar> I get a more informative error message with mpg123 in the terminal. It says "curl: (55) Send failure: Broken pipe". On the other hand, mpv has been able to play the same URL just fine, so maybe the mpv developers know some tricks to work around a misconfigured web server.
<zorz> farkuhar these days i am busy, but when i finish, first thing is to find a way to replace firefox.
<SiFuh> zorz: Easy. prt-get remove firefox && echo "echo No firefox here dude." > /usr/bin/firefox && chmod +x /usr/bin/firefox
<zorz> SiFuh: pkgrm firefox-bin
<zorz> :)
<zorz> SiFuh: but i really like this echo :P
<zorz> SiFuh: unless you put firefox webdriver in something like surf,, this is inteesting.
<SiFuh> They are all wondering how I managed to arrive home before the other two vehicles when I was the last to leave. This is funny
<zorz> SiFuh: shortcuts!
<SiFuh> There is a little alley I use off through the industrial area. I have never seen a car use it. But I always take it because it means 2 corners to my home. If you take the normal way there is 4 corners. My alley comes out straight in front of my street so I just drive straight across the road to my street
<zorz> you see, shortcuts:)
<SiFuh> The new suspension is doing good. Can't wait to test it off road though
<SiFuh> I wanted Fulcrom shocks (Shock absorbers) but they don't have them here. Also I couldn't find any Old Man Emu shocks or Dobinson shocks for a 3" lift. The only one availble was Tough Dogs but they would cost about 7,000 MYR (1,500 USD). After searching around I found a shock absorber that fits my 3" lift. Waldex from Thailand. I am not sure if it is a Thai brand but it is manufactured in Thailand.
<SiFuh> Total cost 852.30 MYR (184 USD). I said to the wife. "Even if they last only 3 months and I have to buy a full set four times a year, that is still cheaper than the Touh Dogs".
<SiFuh> Heh, just did the maths. If I buy a full set 8 times a year it will come close to the price of Dobinson. That's like a new set every 1 and 1/2 months.
<SiFuh> zorz: This is the little Chinese 20 litre with a vapour chamber that I ran today. The vaper chamber is the collumn that looks like a foot ball. https://s3.amazonaws.com/i.snag.gy/odv2OQ.jpg https://s3.amazonaws.com/i.snag.gy/9umR5h.jpg It is basically a pot still but more efficent
<SiFuh> I have both a 100L and a 50L I made from milk containers, a cheap 30L basic pot still. a 30L still from Russia with a Gin basket and this little 20L with the vapour chamber. I have several different column setups and I have adapters so I can swap pieces around and make different setups for what I want.
<SiFuh> When I run my mash (fully fermented liquid), I usually do a stripping run in the 100 litre. Just run it hot and fast or cold slow. Up to you. Once done. I then reduce it to 40% and run it through the vaper chamber with copper mesh. The vodka turns out fantastic
<remiliascarlet> I really thought Japan and Linux is an ultra rare combination. I'm looking through the Comiket catalogue for the 31st alone, and I'm overwhelmed by the huge amount of Linux centric circles participating this time!
<SiFuh> I thought the opposite. I thought Linux was big in Japan
ppetrov^ has joined #crux-social
<remiliascarlet> Almost everyone I know in Japan is either Windows-only or macOS-only. Among those who use real computers, because even more people are smartphone-only.
<remiliascarlet> Even the biggest pusher of GNU I've ever seen is a macOS user.
<zorz> SiFuh: nice equipment.... :)
<SiFuh> You need to know new people
<remiliascarlet> When I asked why, he said that "not everything can be done with free software only".
<SiFuh> zorz: Yes, that's the baby one. It's also my favorite
<SiFuh> It was also the cheapest one
<remiliascarlet> Meanwhile, I've been doing everything with free software only (apart from gaming) just fine.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: That's a dumb reply
<remiliascarlet> And have been doing so since the 1990s.
<SiFuh> Me too since 1999
<zorz> i dont care if its free or not, i just use it... but i do not create programs.
<remiliascarlet> The reason why I never used free software in the 1980s is not because I didn't know about that, it's simply because I didn't exist yet.
<remiliascarlet> zorz: "free" as in "freedom", not "free stuff".
<farkuhar> remiliascarlet: why make an exception for gaming? There are plenty of free software games that can fill a dull moment.
<zorz> remiliascarlet: tux driver
<remiliascarlet> farkuhar: Because there's only a small amount of free software games, and even fewer of these of decent quality.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Warmux, SuperTuxKart and 0ad
<remiliascarlet> And gamers are consoomers, so this is not going to change anytime soon.
<SiFuh> I like 0ad. Just don't like how I can't build a nice town without some enemy just coming over and attacking me for no reason
<SiFuh> City Wok Owner: "How come every time we Chinese build a wall, Mongolains gotta come knock it down?"
ppetrov^ has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: "We invaded China", said the Mongols, "please respect us, or else we might invade you as well." "Okay", said Japan. So the Mongols came over, ready for war, and died in a tornado. But they tried again, and had a nice time fighting with the Japanese, but then died in a tornado.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: From what I read they tried to take Japan and the Samurais were running around being shot by arrows and didn't know what to do. Then a huge storm took many of the Mongols out. About 5 to 7 years later they returned and this time the Japanese were prepared and waited until night time and snuck aboard the ships and skewed them all with their blades and the Mongols never came back.
<SiFuh> I have a hard to believing that Mongols were on ships though
lavaball has joined #crux-social
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: I simply quoted from this video: https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=Mh5LY4Mz15o
<SiFuh> Oh I know this video
<lavaball> anyone install x remotely and vnced onto it?
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: Heh, Donald Trump was in that video.
<lavaball> i have cpu capacity which i could use to render videos.
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: He also made a video on the history of the entire world.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: I have seen his stuff, he isn't very well educated.
<SiFuh> Besides, Germany didn't invade Poland. Poland was beating up and opressing Germans on German land that Poland stole using WW1 as an excuse why it should have that land.
<remiliascarlet> I believe this game got released much ealier than 2012, because I still remember playing this game with classmates back in middle school.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: you mean like how CRUX linux was released before 2002 but the Wiki page says 2002
<remiliascarlet> I know that CRUX was released before Arch, because the founder of Arch was inspired by CRUX.
<SiFuh> Inspired?
<SiFuh> He use to come in the channel asking for help
<remiliascarlet> That's what she said.
<SiFuh> Guided would be better
<SiFuh> Arch Linux was led unastray by the master distro's CRUX Linux team ;-)
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: OpenArena was 2004
<remiliascarlet> What is an "unastray"?
<SiFuh> February 2012 is the latest stable release
<SiFuh> Not deviate off correct path.
<remiliascarlet> It's funny how Arch is being promoted as this "simple distro for minimalists", and then became among the first non-RHEL distro's to use systemd, because "init scripts scary".
<SiFuh> Astray is when you go off the path and get lost.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: Funny I can't find an unastray definition but there are youtube videos on how to pronounce it.
<remiliascarlet> Sure, Arch might be simple if you compare to Debian/Ubuntu or Fedora, but it's complex when you compare with CRUX or KISS, or maybe even Alpine.
<remiliascarlet> Also, just found a very fancy website that doesn't use JS at all: http://www.sg.dendai.ac.jp/s1g-src/
<remiliascarlet> Even the hamburger menu doesn't rely on JS.
<SiFuh> Just like https://www.openbsd.org/
<remiliascarlet> Yes, but that site isn't designed to look modern.
<remiliascarlet> Usually the "modern" looking sites almost always tend to be "either enable JS or GTFO".
<SiFuh> It is modern. It is 7.4 now ;-)
<remiliascarlet> I mean "modern" in quotations.
<SiFuh> I made a website years ago for the University. It had not JS at all and had awesome menus
<remiliascarlet> I still make web based software without ever resorting to Javascript.
<SiFuh> I don't even know how to use Javascript
<SiFuh> Haha
<remiliascarlet> IMO the only website where the JS requirement is a valid excuse is Google Maps or OpenStreetMap.
<remiliascarlet> Speaking of putting "modern" in quotations, looks like yet another vegan has been enlightened: https://youtube.owacon.moe/channel/UCFuLNktnqqBEF_9ZcmjC_bw
<remiliascarlet> Arch pro's: Gajim works. Arch cons: packages from the AUR won't compile most of the time. CRUX pro's: ports from the community all compile. CRUX cons: Gajim is broken.
<remiliascarlet> "ports from the community all compile" I mean those that aren't outdated like "alan".
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: From my ##slackware logs. --- Log opened Mon Apr 06 17:41:09 2020. 18:29:18 [SiFuh> Clade X next
<remiliascarlet> I don't get it.
<SiFuh> Now Billy Evil Gates and the WHO are working on Disease X
<remiliascarlet> Let it sink in; he keeps pushing lethal injections and unhealthy diets, and then brings "solutions" that make the world even sicker.
<remiliascarlet> And blames on sicknesses that he himself helped causing.
<remiliascarlet> After all, he did create the first computer virus, and he also created the first anti-virus program.
ppetrov^ has joined #crux-social
<ppetrov^> sup, guys
<SiFuh> I had a dispute with the ##slackware guys on April the 6th 2020 because I was telling them that the fake pandemic is to mandate injections so you lost bodily autonomy and then I mentioned that they plan for the next pandemic and they are calling it Clade X. The channel wasn't happy with me so I left for a while.
<SiFuh> Hi ppetrov^
<remiliascarlet> Meanwhile, the real solution to all these problems are super simple, yet demonized from every side.
<ppetrov^> ah you are starting about the pandemic again
<SiFuh> Not much just talking Arch Linux shit and stuff
<ppetrov^> k, i'm out...
<ppetrov^> :p
<ppetrov^> just came to brag that after 2 weeks of no-beer, i am having some
<remiliascarlet> ppetrov^: Not just the scamdemic, but Bill Gates in general.
<ppetrov^> ye, ye
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: Not I was just mentioning to remiliascarlet how I had talked about Clade X and now WHO and Bill Gates is pushing a Disease X injection or tongue mrna thing
<ppetrov^> carry on
<SiFuh> 2 weeks without beer?
<ppetrov^> yep
<SiFuh> Where did you go? Saudi Arabia?
<ppetrov^> :D
<ppetrov^> had some deadlines
<ppetrov^> managed to submit everything today
<SiFuh> Ahhh okay fully understand
<ppetrov^> :)
<SiFuh> Usually I don't drink for two weeks when I run out of beer that I brought into a strict Muslim area.
<ppetrov^> a friend calls the beer "biö"
<ppetrov^> finns would pronounce it almost as "beer"
<SiFuh> But I do stop when I have some stuff to do that requires patience, time and thinking.
<ppetrov^> so, i am a biölogist
<remiliascarlet> I literally healed every sickness I had by simply eating meat only. I thought I would at one point go back to the standard diet again, but I've been switching on and off for the past month, and I think I won't switch back anymore.
<SiFuh> Beer likes my company ;-)
<ppetrov^> SiFuh, one biö calls another
<ppetrov^> i would come home with 6 new friends
<SiFuh> Reminds me of an episode of The Big Bang Theory. "Raj: I couldn't find you guys so I bought six new friends (Beer). Three, sadly, are dead."
<ppetrov^> remiliascarlet, hope you never get gout...
<ppetrov^> SiFuh, that's exactly where i remember the phrase from
<ppetrov^> jeez, am I so transparent
<ppetrov^> :)
<SiFuh> Carlsberg and Bavaria gives me gout.
<ppetrov^> bleh
<ppetrov^> Carlsberg "probably the best in the world"
<ppetrov^> no, you are not
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: When driving the Taxi I would say "I have three lovely ladies waiting at home for me. Tiger Beer, Beer Singha and Beer Lao"
<ppetrov^> hahaha
<SiFuh> Carlsberg is f*cking as shit as Heinken
<ppetrov^> i beg to differ, i like Heineken
<ppetrov^> quite neutral
<SiFuh> Heinie Can
<ppetrov^> but, probably i like most Stella Artois
<SiFuh> Ass Can beer ;-)
<ppetrov^> heh
<remiliascarlet> ppetrov^: (looking up what gout means: https://kompas.hosp.keio.ac.jp/contents/000721.html ) Doesn't seem like an issue for me regardless of diet.
<ppetrov^> at some point I would buy Innis and Gunn
<SiFuh> Are Stella Artois, the famous 'Wife Beater'
<ppetrov^> heh
<ppetrov^> remiliascarlet, I also had to google the word
<ppetrov^> Stela is Belgium, i really like it
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: I like Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier, Brok Export (Poland) and Hertog Jan from the stone bottle.
<ppetrov^> SiFuh, have you tried Kronenbourg 1664
<SiFuh> Sadly yes
<ppetrov^> it's great, too bad the only import the alcohol free one in Finland, recently
<ppetrov^> "sadly"?
<SiFuh> Horrible stuff
<ppetrov^> jeez, i had good impression
<ppetrov^> heh
<SiFuh> My friend from France asked me to try it
<SiFuh> In Australia I usually drink Oettinger
<ppetrov^> aha, i guess you did not like it
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: They have it here too as well and I also don't like it. But it is brewed here which makes it worse
<ppetrov^> Oettinger? I think i've seen this here
<ppetrov^> some years ago, Finnish Lidl imported Bulgarian beer
<ppetrov^> it was really great
<SiFuh> Last time I looked, Oettinger refused to sell out to AB INBEV and stayed a family owned business with something like 200 workers
<SiFuh> How about Kozel from CZ?
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Not sure if I showed it you, but I think this is my new favorite Linus Torvalds replacement: https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=CgdKYBqe6QA
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: Seems I have drunk a few of these Bulgarian beers
<SiFuh> If I see a beer I haven't tried yet or don't remember trying, I will try it no matter the cost. In fact, I once went from Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan and crossed the border into Kazakhstan just to try their local beers.
<SiFuh> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsIxZJDY38k <-- WTF did I just watch?
<ppetrov^> SiFuh, Kozel is nice
<ppetrov^> it's funny how non-slavic people try to pronounce Velkopopovický
<ppetrov^> :D
<ppetrov^> as for Bulgarian beers, Zagorka and kamenitsa are the most popular, however my favourite is Shumensko
<SiFuh> The company was bought by SABMiller in 2002 and sold to Asahi Breweries in 2016.
<SiFuh> Oh nooooo
<SiFuh> Pivo!
<ppetrov^> we say "pivo" as well
<ppetrov^> wait, you managed to read it in Cyrillic?
<SiFuh> I can read it
<SiFuh> I lived in Kyrgyzstan
<SiFuh> I use to drink this beer Наше пиво
<ppetrov^> respect, man
<SiFuh> It's funny because Наше can mean Marijuana in Kyrgyz
<ppetrov^> heh
<ppetrov^> "наше" means 'ours'
<SiFuh> Yes, aware
<ppetrov^> i gues in whatever slavic language
<SiFuh> Our Beer
<ppetrov^> йес
<SiFuh> Da
<SiFuh> I think the other beer I had trouble pronouncing was живое пиво
<SiFuh> Use to buy 2 x 3 Litre plastic bottles of it after work. If I didn't finish that night, I turn the one I opened upside down and stick it in the fridge door to keep carbonated
<SiFuh> I remember the Kazakh guy says that he doesn't like the 3 litre plastic bottles because if he doesn't finish they go flat in the refrigerator. I said that i don't have that problem because beer is thicker than CO2 and put the bottle upside. Hahaha
<ppetrov^> живое пиво -- live beer
<SiFuh> Арпа was Kyrgyz beer I use to drink sometimes. Kyrgyz are so imaginative they named their beer. Barley beer
<ppetrov^> i guess not pasteurized
<ppetrov^> heh
<SiFuh> ppetrov^: It's pasteurized. I was told it is named Alive Beer because suppose to make you feel alive.
<ppetrov^> hahahaa
<SiFuh> My friends father is Muslim and he isn't allowed to drink. The family doesn't let him. Whenever we'd go shopping, he and I would slip into small store and buy a 2 litre bottle. Empty the bottle together within minutes inside the store and then appear behind the family as though nothing happened. It was pretty funny

<zorz> ppetrov^: pilsner urquell and budweiser czech republic nice beers, bad day for them today.
<SiFuh> Budweiser??? Ewwww
<zorz> SiFuh: yes, the cz one.
<zorz> i am not sure,,, but maybe is the original.
<zorz> fuckin americans steal everything.
<SiFuh> Czechvar
<zorz> OK:-)
<zorz> SiFuh: i dont think that you distil and drink right now?
<zorz> dont tell me you do a thing like that.
<SiFuh> Original, 90-day matured pale lager
<SiFuh> That which I distilled is not fit for human consumption, that was for a science experiment
<zorz> to strong for me,,, if i go for matured beer i go for belgium.
<SiFuh> I don't need to distill because i still over a 100 litres of homemade vodka here
<SiFuh> 5% is too strong for you?
<zorz> SiFuh: how you are sure is not for human consumption... did you try? :Pp
<SiFuh> It's 3 years of heads. Heads contain most of the toxic chemicals during distilling. Even if it doesn't you should still cast it away. I save it for cleaning, camping, starting chainsaws and other shit.
<zorz> i see...
<SiFuh> It just went from 90% to 60% over the years because it was stored in a plastic container. So I re-distilled it to bring the proof up again
<zorz> SiFuh: best containers are cans and tins... not even sun.
<SiFuh> For Vodka?
<SiFuh> It's glass
<SiFuh> Storing vodka in metal containers will change the flavour over time
<zorz> alcohol should be ok i dont know, but olive oil stored somewhere other than tin it damages the quality.
<zorz> even the beers in cans taste better than bottle.
<zorz> sodas.
<SiFuh> Beers taste better in glass bottles. The bottle needs to be dark to protect from the UV radiation
<zorz> tin
<zorz> :)
<zorz> anyway... have to go... later.
<SiFuh> Bisphenol A seaps into the beer over time if you use a can.
<SiFuh> Seeps*
