<lanefu> Right what's the difference

* TRS-80 just had Church's Chicken for the first time, not too shabby
<TRS-80> lanefu: How you liking your PBP now that you (presumably) spent a lot more time with it?
* TRS-80 is thinking about picking one up on next production run
<nekomancer[m]> my PBP dead after ~3 month of usage, and I not found a way to fix. It can't boot. No support :(
<nekomancer[m]> customer support propose to buy a new motherboard when it back to sale.
<TRS-80> yeah, I read a few such accounts about Pine64 hardware in general, but out of how many thousands sold I am not sure what to make of that
<TRS-80> nekomancer[m]: that does suck though :(
<TRS-80> nekomancer[m]: How did you like it when it was working?
<nekomancer[m]> I like it. I think it good enough. There was some papercuts first time, but with time it was fixed
<nekomancer[m]> The bad for me was:
<nekomancer[m]> 1. there was no suspend to disk and resume
<nekomancer[m]> 3. there moronic serial console multiplexed with 3.5" headphone jack, swiched with mechanic switch inside case. You have to disassemble laptop to turn this switch
<nekomancer[m]> 2. there was no video playback acceleration if not `ayufan` kernel
<nekomancer[m]> and I'd like to use `TORBrowser`, but there was no pre-build aarch64 version, and I try but fail to build it myself

<lanefu> TRS-80: yep still like it. Still using an old Frankenstein os build on it cuz I like using it and don't wanna reinstall
<lanefu> YouTube plays fine
<TRS-80> that is one pain point on the old ThinkPads I currently use
<lanefu> It's a $300-400 laptop for $200
<TRS-80> end up using youtube-dl most of time, still chokes some times even on downloaded video :/
<TRS-80> yeah, great value I think too
<TRS-80> lanefu: I know that feel (re: reinstallation) so well that I have been trying to streamiline my dotfile / new system setup process for literally years now
<lanefu> Anyway it's a good buy. I'd get one and change your mind later if you have to
<TRS-80> yeah people seem to not have any problem selling them on forums either
<TRS-80> I imagine I will
* TRS-80 is suddenly becoming quite the Pine64 customer lol

<archetech> you some kind of fag?
<archetech> cuz that aint concern
<archetech> feigning concern is wicked

<archetech> you ask a fake question I'll give it right back

<archetech> im hangin out and sharing a tune title and get messed with
<archetech> Thin Lizzy Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> The question is known to not be about your actual well being. It's a sarcastic response to someone saying or doing something unintelligible in public, like babbling or maybe tripping over their own feet: "You, you ok over there? You look like you need some help".
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> I didn't catch the title, so your post made no sense
<archetech> best you play with ur toys little boy
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Oh yeah?
<archetech> if somebody is enjoying there fri night they'll respond
<archetech> unintelligible yeah right ya look like an azz saying that over a music title
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> I still don't know what song that is, maybe you should take a poll. Let me Google it
<archetech> pls do it will easily come up
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Ah, SRV, short for Stevie Ray Vaughn. That makes more sense written out. Given it's a Linux channel I did not put that together. Usually I pick up your tunes, but not that one. Using our discussion as evidence, it seemed like you were telling someone to leave and I was confused/wondering wtf you were up to.
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> And so the question you reacted so amazingly to
<archetech> ya well think next time and research before commenting
<archetech> im not here to cause trouble but I WILL defend myself

<yang> I am looking for a well supported Armbian device, 8+ GB RAM, at least 2 x 1 GE NICs, reasonably fast CPU, any hints which these would be ? Looking more in the Mini PC series than embedded tiny ones...
<yang> preferrably more NICs
<yang> Maybe something like Turris Omnia, but more recent...

<Armbian-Discord> <kprasadvnsi> What is the process of sending patches to the mainline u-boot?
<fizikz> lanefu: 5.4.142-odroidxu4 (ODROID-HC2) looks like it has a regression from the memcpy fix? http://ix.io/3zgD
<fizikz> standard memcpy : 84.2 MB/s (0.3%) standard memset : 278.1 MB/s (0.1%)
<lanefu> damn
<lanefu> kprad honestly would need to look at u-boot's website.... would loveit if you took notes tho so we could add to docs
<lanefu> fizikz: sorry that really sucks... I don't have tiem to take a look unfortunately
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> I just saw BayLibre was working on mainline code for some Mediatek stuff. 🤔
<stipa> i have MT7612U. it's rock solid
<stipa> to the point i don't even think about it
<stipa> just works
<Armbian-Discord> <kprasadvnsi> The driver for wifi module used in opi zero2 is been ported to 5.13 kernel.

<Armbian-Discord> <kprasadvnsi> Port is done by Orange Pi. Looks like they are talking the mainline seriously.
<jock> hello!
<stipa> hi
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> I have nothing against MT, stipa, just curious who is funding baylibre's interest in those chips. Must investigate. XD
<stipa> Tonymac32 i guess it has something to do with Athero

<fizikz> lanefu: damn, sucks indeed. you mean you don't have time right now? or indefinitely..?
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Fizikz you have an armbianmonitor -u?
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> @lanefu is this DMC issues on that exynos again?
<fizikz> Tonymac32: paste of armbianmonitor -U https://paste.centos.org/view/45b26f55
<[TheBug]> Tonymac32: afternoon
<fizikz> -u unfortunately isn't working for me. "Network/firewall problem detected. Not able to upload debug info.
<fizikz> Please fix this or use "-U" instead and upload whole output manually"
<fizikz> can't confirm if it is the same DMC issue as before, but the symptoms are identical.
<fizikz> i wonder if the patch that fixed the issue before somehow got dropped

<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Hmmm I don't see the error right away fizikz
<fizikz> Tonymac32, what error are you looking for?
<yang> thanks TheBug
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Seeing if the driver said anything
<fizikz> Tonymac32 i don't think this issue ever gave error messages. it's just the performance that tanks very noticeably. memory intensive tasks like borg backup checks take over 3X as long
<jock> IgorPec: hello. I imported the libreelec patches for the rockchip edge flavour. Made a branch (rockchip 5.14) and a merge request (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/3152) for that. TBH hantro (h.264) was already working on my board even without LE patches in; nonetheless the new patches adds rkvdec for h.265 and various other goodies and fixes.

<pista> Hello. Does anyone know if there is an archive of old armbian releases? I'm looking for source of Armbian_5.41 (kernel 3.14.29)
<pista> ok, I think I just found it in armbian githum ... tag "v2017.11" :)
<pista> *github
<[TheBug]> yes
<[TheBug]> is one of the archive mirrors
<[TheBug]> you can use archive.armbian.com as well I believe
<[TheBug]> if you need something older than what is in archive...
<[TheBug]> let me know I think we have some older archives somewhere
<[TheBug]> but not per se publci facing
<[TheBug]> Tonymac32: I think I am gonna go full madlad and test 10x3TB on SATA card via PCI slot on RockPro64 4GB w/ 32GB emmc
<[TheBug]> I am wondering if I will hit hard core diminishing returns as in no different than smaller raids
<[TheBug]> or if I will actually be able to fully fill the PCIe lane
<[TheBug]> I don't think this will be a long term platform, but interested to see how it does
<pista> Thanks [TheBug] !
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Hahaha [TheBug] THE RAM THO
<[TheBug]> Tonymac32: so hooked up power meter
<[TheBug]> with 10x3TB building array along with RockPro64 4GB
<[TheBug]> we are using 115.48W 120.09V 0.98A
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Hahaha
<[TheBug]> using a EVGA 500 White ATX poower supply in an Antec Three Hundred Two case
<[TheBug]> Thats actually impressive
<[TheBug]> you consider my E5 running same amount of drives is using 1000 watt supply and constantly uses almost 250-300Watt
<[TheBug]> so its a power savings almost 1:3
<[TheBug]> now sync speed is not very fast
<[TheBug]> only about 35M/sec split out by 10 on t his controller
<[TheBug]> but I think once complete I should get near the theoretical max of 300M/sec
<[TheBug]> I just want to see how far I can go ;p
<[TheBug]> I don't think this is going to stay this way though for many reason
<[TheBug]> maybe 2 5 drive arrays or something like that
<[TheBug]> [>....................] recovery = 0.5% (16793660/2930132992) finish=1140.8min speed=42561K/sec
<[TheBug]> wow going faster than at start
