<Armbian-Discord> <kprasadvnsi> Anybody have a Pinephone or pinetab?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> I don't have any
<Armbian-Discord> <kprasadvnsi> A Goodix touchscreen panel having issues with mainline kernel.
<Armbian-Discord> <kprasadvnsi> The same GT9271 controller used in pinetab.
<Armbian-Discord> <kprasadvnsi> The driver in the mainline so I thought it would be easy to use but nop, I have to just suffer with this crap😆

<jock> hello!
<[TheBug]> sup jock
<jock> hi bug!
<jock> Hello Igor, I did the libreelec patch import for rockchip edge we talked about last time
<jock> At the moment it is running very well on my rk3288 box
<[TheBug]> jock: do you work on the RockChip stuff actively?
<[TheBug]> jock: also do you have your own build setup?
<jock> [TheBug]: most of the time on rk322x, but since I have a rk3288 tv box sometimes a give a hand for rockchip family too
<jock> IgorPec: had to disable several existing patches: most of them were just already present in LE patches, for a couple of them there was an updated revision; what I'm mostly concerned about are the two patches for the HDMI timings

<jock> since we have it altered for compatibility. I can't test them with exotic hardware since I got only 1920x1080 monitors and TVs around
<IgorPec> hdmi timings was added by myy IIRC to cover some exotic monitors?
<jock> Yeah I remember so
<IgorPec> so its like a lot of work?
<jock> I tested his timings on some of my TVs
<IgorPec> to bring it back in?
<jock> no, if you think it is safer I can easily bring them back in
<jock> the LE patches have the 01- prefix
<jock> all the 40xx- patches have been disabled because they are superseded (the 4015 is still there enabled since I don't know the rationale of this one)
<jock> results are that hantro and rkvdec are working well (so h.264 and h.265 8 bit decoding is working fine, vp9 still has some problems), plus there is the Image Enhancement Processor (IEP) v4l2 driver too that will be handy for postprocessing
<IgorPec> patches that has been merged into mainline you can delete once things go up. that's why we keep patcheset from previous ones
<IgorPec> and leave .disabled for those you are unsure what to do. sometimes, when i am low on time, i moved them into "need_checking"
<jock> most of the disabled patches are not yet mainlined: they have been submitted to the kernel mailing lists and already appear in the libreelec patchsets. If it is ok for you, I can remove armbian duplicates and keep the libreelec ones
<jock> I think it is easier in case there is the need to update the libreelec patches
<IgorPec> if they are in the LE patchset, remove them as well
<IgorPec> whatever is easier to track
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Please organize these patches rationally
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> LE and other random patches were added to Meson64 and were duplicates/conflicts/etc, a mess that is still not totally resolved

<jock> I understand; I don't like the bundle patch style. I like more a sparse set. Fortunately rk3288 is already stable in the mainline kernel, so there are no critical patches. It was easier to inspect and rework the fuzzy ones (also because I already did the same that for rk322x...)

<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Right, RK3288 has been stable for a long time, that's why I haven't had to mess with it. I just have too much experience going"wtf is this LE patch even doing?". 😉

<Armbian-Discord> <NeonFetch> do not ask for that here please
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Correct. We do not endorse, recognize or support that project
