Do any M.2 to SDIO adapters exist?
<[TheBug]>
No, that would be silly, SDIO is a very slow interface
<[TheBug]>
even the wifi and bt adapters that use it are pretty crap
<Tables>
M.2 offers an SDIO interface and alot of GPS chips are SDIO. Also, there are AX SDIO M.2 cards now.
<[TheBug]>
okay, let me rephrase, depends what you are putting in the m.2
<[TheBug]>
if it is some type of usb device I guess you could emulate that
<[TheBug]>
if its pcie or similar I highly doubt it
<Armbian-Discord>
<NeonFetch> Bug
<Armbian-Discord>
<NeonFetch> I uploaded the image
<Tables>
Alot of embedded M.2 slots are only SDIO
<Armbian-Discord>
<NeonFetch> Thabks
<Armbian-Discord>
<kprasadvnsi> this magic spell works 😀

At least for industrial use cases

<kprasadvnsi> did the OPi Zero2 edge build ever worked? I am stuck at "Starting kernel ..." as last time.
<Armbian-Discord>
<kprasadvnsi> Failed to load '/boot/dtb/allwinner/overlay/-fixup.scr'
<Armbian-Discord>
<kprasadvnsi> that's the only error i got from bootlog
<IgorPec>
it worked
<IgorPec>
but now its failing again. dunno why

<buZz>
wow M.2 has SDIO?
<buZz>
fancy
<kveremitz>
if you can edit the kernel command-line, check/remove 'quiet' if you have it, and make sure your console= parameter looks sane so that you see the kernel load, and anything that comes up there
<kveremitz>
I honestly wish people wouldn't use 'quiet' especially on embedded systems, where you need to be able to see if something fails. But there is always the ricers who need that extra 0.5s ...
<kveremitz>
peeling back the layers in that situation is much harder when there is no obvious "hey, I've experienced an error/etc" message to be seen/found
<kveremitz>
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
<Armbian-Discord>
<kprasadvnsi> where is that kernel command-line file in the Armbian?
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> extraargs in /boot/armbianEnv.txt
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> boot that is not the case here
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> we are talking about kernel which is under development and where support is early / mid WIP kernel hangs
<Armbian-Discord>
<kprasadvnsi> Found the issue. It's those RTC patches that break armhf.
<Armbian-Discord>
<kprasadvnsi> @IgorPec how can I reproduce the arnhf bug with H616 patches?
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> i sware buy hitachi enterprise refurbished drives
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> just buy extra
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> if you don't have a spare drive you're doing it wrong IMHO
<IgorPec>
we need eu store for that
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> thihs is my new fav i think
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> search for refurbed ST8000NM0105)
* nekomancer[m]
just place order to 10 tb toshiba. first was choosen hitachi, but there was a lot of notes about high failure rate and problems with replacement
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> yeah i always see that.. i've been running refurbished HGST drives for 3 or 4 years with good reliability
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> failure is usually out of hte box
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> just give them clean power and keep them spinning
<nekomancer[m]>
HGST was the best on robustness for a years. But now they are gone.
<[TheBug]>
huh?
<[TheBug]>
I still primarily only run HGST
<[TheBug]>
not sure what you mean about 'gone'
<nekomancer[m]>
Now HGST are Western Digital

<[TheBug]>
hmm they are not still going to put out seperate branded drives?
chewitt has joined #armbian
<nekomancer[m]>
Possible they will keep HGST letters as part of brand trademarks. But it not separate research, development and manufacturing.
<[TheBug]>
sad.

'now' is since when?
<nekomancer[m]>
Sorry, I don't know where line have to be. But not this in past/

I wanted to try using a Pine H64 B as a desktop tonight (just to see if that was viable), but when I hooked it up to my 1920x1200 monitor, it was so slow that the text I was typing into the terminal was lagging
<PPA>
with just dwm open
<PPA>
Is this to be expected from such a relatively high resolution, or is this anomalous and there's something missing here?
<PPA>
(I was using the Bullseye build)
<IgorPec>
hard to say, we only test released builds. not all combinations
<IgorPec>
h6 is pretty powerful chip
<IgorPec>
and this doesn't look normal to me
<PPA>
I see. Going to experiment with other desktop environments and the other builds (Buster, Focal) over the coming days
<lanefu>
PPA: I mostly use pineh64 headless where it's pretty performant, but havent spent much time on the desktop side
<IgorPec>
desktop coold have issues if 3d is enabled

PPA: I work with an H3. That problem is a graphic card problem. Be sure your graphic card has the right driver.
<PPA>
Thanks. I remember seeing a few posts on the forums on how to install the newest Mesa/Panfrost drivers, so I'm going to try that
