<stipa>
Youtubers love HDDs for backuping all that crappy videos
<stipa>
they're cheap
<stipa>
and they're of bigger capacity than SSDs
<stipa>
maybe they use cloud storage nowadays
<Tables>
Both is the way to go
<stipa>
that's not cheap but if the data is worth it why not
<Tables>
Backblaze is cheap
<stipa>
from the point of security i would trust more a NAS at workplace than cloud storage
<Tables>
The idea is you encrypt it first
<stipa>
yeah, some things benefit encryption, for my needs it's just an additional complication i don't need

<lanefu>
backblaze is cheap but its still not as cheap as having your own disk
<Tables>
The idea is you have both. BB Personal is unlimited BTW. I found it while using B2
<Tables>
Not paying for the power usage, maintenance, or replacement drives upon failure or natural disaster / weather is its own perk.

<lanefu>
yeah the personal backup isnt really worth the effort. because you have had a local copy on your device within 30 days
<lanefu>
so its not an archival solution
<lanefu>
but fine for like an equivalent of time machine sorta
<Tables>
I mean, tell that to people in Belgium or Germany right now.
<lanefu>
lol i mean I use b2 and a storage vps
<lanefu>
as well as local nas
<lanefu>
so im with ya
<lanefu>
i also missed your original comment where you said both is the way to go

Hi, is apt.armbian.com down for everyone, or is my install broken?
<mosca95>
Can someone help me with running armbian on BPI M2U R40
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> this is not supported hw
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> but it works as far as i know
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> what doesn't work?
<mosca95>
Yes its work but i cant handle with bt
<mosca95>
It display hci device with AA:AA:AA... macaddr
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> if we would have time to fix, we would already fix it
<mosca95>
I think its wrong driver or driver cant load but i dont know how to change it
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> scan forum posts for some clues. those chips are similar on all boards
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> bt is closed sources so its usually down to loading correct firmware
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> and there is wild west in those chips here
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> which is why we simply leave this to the user to handle
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> it can happen that one board has new revision and yet another hackery is needed, while bananapi documentaion is random txt
<mosca95>
Ok thx
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> ni problem. sorry that i can't help you more
<mosca95>
Its better answer then sinvoip support xd

lanefu: when I "apt update", I get "http://apt.armbian.com focal inRelease" "500 internal server error"
<lanefu>
and also the entire output of your apt update command
<richd>
lanefu: never mind. I have found the issue.
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> lol
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> FYI you can also use armbian-config to set mirrors
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> but it does best-effort geoip redirect by default
<richd>
lanefu: For reasons best known to <insert diety here>, the office's Barracuda content filter was "mucking up the works" as it often does.
<lanefu>
:P
<richd>
lanefu: indedd
<richd>
lanefu: er..."indeed"
<richd>
lanefu: my apologies. Bypassing the damn thing fixed everything, and I feel like I should go sit in the corner and think about what I have done.
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> no worries
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> that stuff always messes up even those most-aware that it exists
<richd>
lanefu: many thanks, now to see what else I can break
<lanefu>
the sky's the limit on that front
<Armbian-Discord>
<kprasadvnsi> just curious. why Armbian favor Xfce over LXDE?
Dagger has joined #armbian
<richd>
lanefu: one mystery remains, Firefox on my not-hampered-by-the-Barracuda gives me the "500 server error", but Chromium doesn't.
<lanefu>
cache , cache and more cache
<lanefu>
and DNS cache
<richd>
lanefu: The only common denominator I can see is that both the stupid Barracuda and my tweaked install of Firefox inject an "X-Forwarded-For" http header, although for different reasons. When i turn it off in Firefox, apt.armbian.com redirects fine.
<richd>
lanefu: so once again, my mistake.

interesting.... man that's weird to set that header client side

lanefu: It's just to confuse some of the internet web trackers. Some servers notice it, some don't. That, along with a few other tidbits, makes me at lease *feel* like I'm maintaining some amount of privacy
<richd>

<richd>
neat
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> yeah.. well if your servers is configured correctly, it only trusts the values of that header when its set by a trusted source
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> and real-ip
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> anyway clever tho
<richd>
lanefu: it's fun to see just how many sites take it seriously, and insert regional content based on my falsified location
<Armbian-Discord>
<lanefu> haha that is pretty awesome
<richd>
richd: rule one of running a web server: never, ever, ever trust that data from a client is what you expect it to be.
<lanefu>
yeah MVP culture does allow inra people to do their job correctly anymore
