<se7en> Hello. I am betatesting a new computer which runs Armbian as the default OS. I am having unusual problems opening Firefox, and Firefox-based web browsers. However, Chromium-based is also having difficulty. The problem is unknown to me, but other programs are having no difficulty at all running.
<se7en> These issues seemed to arise after I had transparently-encrypted my home directoy
<se7en> I do not see why this may have led to a problem, as Firefox (and Chromium) is installed system-wide
<se7en> After installing Pale Moon, it worked but no longer works.
<se7en> Sometimes Firefox opens, other times it does not. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall repeatedly, and I have also repeatedly rebooted the machine to see if this rectifies the issue
<se7en> The only error that Firefox produces when opened from a terminal is
<se7en> Crash Annonation GraphicsCriticalError: [[0]GFX- ]: No GPUs detected via PCI (t=12.2863) [GFX- ]: No GPUs detected via PCI
<se7en> Crash Annonation GraphicsCriticalError: [[0]GFX- ]: No GPUs detected via PCI (t=12.2863) [GFX- ]: glxtest: process failed (recieved signal 11) (t=12.2865) [GFX- ]: glxtest: process failed (recieved signal 11)
<se7en> ###!!! [Child][RunMessage] Error: Channel closing: too late to send/recv, messages will be lost
<se7en> Despire these errors, it often does come up despite them.
<Werner> Well a very good start would be to know what hardware you are actually using.
<se7en> This is Armbian Hirsuit 21.11.0-trunk
<se7en> Lemme get the exact specs, one momenyt
<Armbian-Discord> Command sent by IgorPec
<Armbian-Discord> ... and report bugs to maintainers of web browsers
<se7en> I believe the problem may be with Armbian as this has occured after an encryption of the home directory
<se7en> The system is this
<se7en> And it is the A04 running with 2GB ram
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> this has nothing to do with armbian
<se7en> Firefox has opened now, but sometimes it does not. Checking htop I am unable to send a kill -9 when it has fake-opened
<se7en> No?
<se7en> I think that there's a problem with the systme if I can't send kill -9 in an htop
<se7en> Or at least, kill -9 does not have any response
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> no, this is an RPi device, we don't have any official images for this
<se7en> Also, I had further questions about the system
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> we didn't create this image. someone else did
<se7en> This is not a RasPi device, RasPi models are the CM4
<se7en> s/CM4/CM3
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> so its very difficult to determine what is wrong. armbian is a build system -> https://github.com/armbian/build
<Werner> looks like something AW H6 based from the specs?
<se7en> I'm pretty sure this an Adrino
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> which creates Debian based system ...
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> its not that we would not want to help you, but it is very difficult to help someone else work
<se7en> Maybe it is a Raspberry Pi. It's a Chinese-origin project. These computers were expected a year ago and are only shipping out now
<se7en> I'll move on. I have other questions regarding Armbian. For instance, since it is Debian-based is it easy to follow Debian-Centric guides to remove SystemD and PulseAudio
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> i have to say its first time i heard there is armbian for this device you are mentioning
<se7en> The system I recieved (and have been reviewing in their forum) runs Armbian
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> if you are going to remove systemd, you need to refactor a bunch of services
<se7en> I am aware
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> you run fake Armbian from our perspective 😉
<se7en> I see
<se7en> This is my review of the system
<se7en> Here is a screenfetch
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> or lets say "community builds"
<Werner> "devterm-kernel-current-cpi-a04" definitively no package from us
<se7en> The screenfetch says "Ubuntu Hirsuit" but programs including `armbian-config` are on the system
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> so they build hardware, took our software and we need to cover support expenses? 🙂 good for their business
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> ugh. well, it isn't ours unfortunately
<se7en> I see
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> so no idea what kind of funny business might be going on
<se7en> Well, alright then
<Werner> To cut a long story short: Complain at the place from wherever you got the image ;)
<se7en> When I got it I ran rkhunter and clamscan'd the system binaries so I didn't find anything
<se7en> So I don't think there is nessesarily concern in that respect, but this is an Armbian-based system at the very least
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> it is, but support is the key element
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> we even don't support "inhouse" builds https://forum.armbian.com/clubs/1-tv-boxes/
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> there are hundreds of devices that run armbian, but we don't fix anything. not that we are evil. We can't afford
<se7en> Do you believe there may be concern for using a custom-kernel created by these developers?
<Werner> Probably not besides that we cannot help with it
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> they probably don't change anything
<se7en> Alright. "Probably".
<se7en> Thank you

<Armbian-Discord> <NicoD> I've had people ask about that device. Someone was using armbian-gaming on it to run box86. I also had no idea what it was, and he couldn't tell me more. I fugured out that it was using an RK3399. And had different boards for it with different specs. It indeed was using Armbian, but some things seemed to be disabled. I told him to go barking at the producer or seller of the thing. Does look like it is nice hardware. But
<Armbian-Discord> expensive a.f.
<Nickli> a what now?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> what now?
<Nickli> some kind of device
<Armbian-Discord> <NicoD> https://www.clockworkpi.com/devterm
<BCMM> not sure i really understand that keyboard
<BCMM> looks too small to type normally, but probably too big to type with your thumbs like an n900
<BCMM> it *looks* amazing, though
<Armbian-Discord> <RadxaYuntian> their gameshell looks great as well
<Armbian-Discord> <RadxaYuntian> i love those transparent pluggable modules

<lanefu> Lol
<lanefu> Anyway model 100 is where it's styling comes from

<Armbian-Discord> <FurretUber> Hi, I have a Banana Pi M2 Zero and I'm using it with Armbian 21.08.6 Focal with Linux 5.10.60-sunxi
<Armbian-Discord> <FurretUber> I noticed the image on the Armbian site don't have the camera working and, apparently, there is no overlay for enabling it
<Armbian-Discord> <FurretUber> I found an image on GitHub with the camera enabled: https://github.com/Qengineering/BananaPi-M2-Zero-OV5640
<Armbian-Discord> <FurretUber> This GitHub image has some changes on the DTB file to enable the camera. Maybe it could be possible to add an overlay to the official Banana Pi M2 Zero image?

<Armbian-Discord> <NicoD> Maybe ask the person who made this image if he would want to be maintainer for the board. Then everything is possible. I don't think the devs have time for this.
<IgorPec> FurretUber it would not be possible. There are many nice things floating around, mainly on our forums ... but since we receive no support from users and no support from vendors, integration costs remain on us. Currently we are at https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_FAQ/#development-time and we work hard to cut it down on half. Nobody cares.

<Armbian-Discord> <FurretUber> I knew the support from vendors was bad, but the daily costs were a surprise to me
<Armbian-Discord> <FurretUber> Copying that image DTB to the Armbian Focal makes the camera work on Focal too. Using diff on them, there are obvious additions, but then there are 105 phandle entries that were changed. I'm reading this: https://elinux.org/Device_Tree_Usage and, hopefully, I'll be able to understand Device Tree better
