smaeul conchuod: my argument is essentially that those non-retentive suspend states as defined in the SBI spec aren't useful, so we need the DT property to ack into them working
<palmer>
IMO the Arm approach makes sense when the spec is defined to work and there's bugs in the implementation, we're the other way around and the DT should be as well
<conchuod>
palmer: since you're here.. can I beat my dead horse about that soc email again?
<conchuod>
Sorry for bothering you about it all the time...
<palmer>
ya, sorry
<palmer>
NP
<conchuod>
Rebuilding my machine today so prob will be tomorrow before I actually look at the suspend thing..
<conchuod>
Got a 7950x :)
<palmer>
fancy, I just bought something old off ebay to update my 2500k ;)
<conchuod>
Had a 4790k before that got sort killed by a power surge
<conchuod>
At 100% cpu load it crashes... Welcome upgrade

palmer: I started looking at converting include/uapi/asm-generic/unistd.h into the syscall.tbl format. I looks like we accidentally ended up enabling the time32 syscalls in compat mode even though they are turned off in native mode. Does that match what you see?
<palmer>
I can look, but you know this stuff way better than I do
<palmer>
It’s probably just a bug, when we merged the compat stuff it was with a “this matched the rv32 uabi and we’ll fix any differences as a bug” caveat, so I think we can just fix it

<arnd>
right, the main question for me is how urgently I need to fix it for stable backports. Maybe I'll continue with my series for the moment, and think about the fix afterwards. At the moment, it gets fixed as a side-effect of another change, but I probably don't want my larger patch to need a backport

but here is the question do wa base it off xfce/icewm or sawfish .?
<rneese>
only ones I have seen themes for
<rneese>
update-alternatives: using /usr/bin/sawfish to provide /usr/bin/x-window-manager (x-window-manager) in auto mode
<rneese>
ERROR: sawfish is broken - called emacs-package-install as a new-style add-on, but has no compat file.
<rneese>
so it looks like ice or xfce
<muurkha>
you might end up writing your own wm eventually. also when you're forced to switch to wayland you'll probalby have to

we have a os img on usbunt and sid for it now build for starfive and thed1
<rneese>
s/thed1/ the d1
<muurkha>
nice! how does it feel? I'd think the D1 should be plenty zippy enough for icewm if you aren't also doing some kind of compiz translucency thing
<rneese>
its working great 150bables uses it and I have it on the starfive and xfce on the beaglev that has been updated
