I suppose we can close that too and just create new tickets if we find issues

Me again...Thought the answers given yesterday would solve the problem, but the "model toolbar" does not appear "on the left side of the screen" . Perhaps I do not have the current version of CURA ? A little history here - I got a version of CURA a while ago, and every time I opened it I was prompted to "get the latest version". Initially I tried
<johnkh>
to get that, but was told it was not available, so I have been ignoring it, and printing away without incident.. Yesterday I bit on the "latest version" offer, went down that rabbit hole, and thought I had what I needed. Wrong! I got a new icon for my toolbar, but using it doesn't seem to make any difference from the old one, no "model toolbar".
<johnkh>
Incidentally, that new icon was on my toolbar after I downloaded it, but is AWOL this A.M. I am retired, so have lots of time, am persistent by nature, but realize I am probably missing something obvious.... All suggestions welcomed .
<Scopeuk>
hmm that actually looks like it might be a "true" 3 axis joystick, interesting

<Jack22>
Scopeuk: what is a "false" 3 axis joystick?
<Scopeuk>
the cctv style adding rotation to the body (like the old gaming joystick rudder) that looks like it can do vertical translation
<Scopeuk>
this is a distinction that likely only exists in my head
<Scopeuk>
I guess joysticks are "rotation" rather than translation really
<Jack22>
translation with a stick can't work because of the lever (except axial) the space navigator solve that as you don't have a stick - the knob has the center internal so you could translate as you press at the center

never used one of the space nav devices
<Scopeuk>
perpetually tempted but I don't do enough cad stuff to justify spending "proper money" on one

<Jack22>
you can use them for KSP but you don't want 6-axis in one knob for steering something it is just to easy to accidentally invoke a rotation

<Jack22>
3 slider for translation will be fine
<Jack22>
also the question if the motion is stopped when your input is back in neutral

FYI - the space navigator drivers blow chunks. (I got a device years ago as a door prize, and keep trying to use it, but it just does not work that reliably)

I have a drone with broken landing gear. The company doesn't make this model anymore so I can't buy replacement landing gear. Is this a good place to start.
<teepee>
if you want to design the parts with openscad, then yes
<Guest87>
teepee, I have no experience with SCAD. Where do I begin?
<InPhase>
I figure the tutorial should get you pretty close for most drone landing gear structures.
<InPhase>
That plus a little trial and error, which is part of the learning game for this.
<InPhase>
If you get it right on your third print of your first design, you're doing superbly. :) If you get it right on your first print of your first design, then you got lucky so stop bragging. ;)
<Jack22>
nice .. and fast .. i am sure a polyhedron would take longer
<InPhase>
Aside from some primitive mutations to test out the language, threads.scad was my first one. Although my first version of that which was the real first one was a mess. I had to redo the whole thing a few times.

I'm sure she learned a lot from being the CEO in charge of my email account.

lol
<InPhase>
Around when she took over is when things got a bit chaotic on that email account that I've had since 2001...
