<missMyN900> black screen issue again
<missMyN900> after boot I pressed the power button and briefly saw the power button menu in portrait mode
Twig has joined #maemo-leste
<missMyN900> then I rotated the phone and got the black screen
<missMyN900> when I rotate the phone I can see the screen very briefly turn off and then it turns on again, so basically it appears to be switching screen orientation but the screen is still black (but on!)
<missMyN900> oh now it is working again when I press the power button
<missMyN900> the notification led was yellow also
<missMyN900> just tried to install some packages from extras that are on GitHub but apt can't find them
<missMyN900> I cannot scroll in the settings menu of Hamster Filer
<missMyN900> I can see Orientation is set to "Automatic" by default but that does not work either
<missMyN900> when I closed Hamster Filer, it did appear to switch orientation (I briefly saw the flip animation that I remember from my N900 days)
<missMyN900> now I have the black screen again...
<missMyN900> when I rotate the phone, I can see the screen briefly turn off again as described before
<missMyN900> the OS is definitely not entirely freezing therefore
<missMyN900> since it does respond to an orientation change
<missMyN900> rapidly pressed the power button multiple times and I got the lock screen again
<missMyN900> it is working normally again
<missMyN900> hopefully this is helpful information
<missMyN900> this must be related to X11 somehow, maybe it also involves Lima if it does not occur on the mapphones (and N900)

<uvos__> norayr: no sutch thing as a verizon locked d4, they are all unlocked except in the us.
<uvos__> verizon has been using sims ever since switching to lte (so d4 is one of the first with a sim slot)
<uvos__> power consumption without sim is fine but you have to issue CFUN=0 to the modem
<uvos__> on android its allways fine, not sure how it avoids this bug
<uvos__> its a bug/bheavior quirrk of the modem

<rafael2k> it seems pinetab support was added there too
<rafael2k> also PPP, so upgrading to this and copying the correct dtbs to the proper place should bring support to those
<norayr> uvos, buZz, should i echo CFUN=0 to some /dev file?
<norayr> Wizzup: please give me admin right to lagrange, oricutron repos in maemo-leste-extras, and create a repo 'maefat' as well.
<norayr> if that's the way i supposed to work, because i have rights to push to photolightmeter.
<norayr> so i guess that's the way.
<norayr> both lagrange and maefat are ready to push and to be built in jenkins.
<norayr> those reside in my personal repos now.

<Wizzup> freemangordon: hi
<Wizzup> rafael2k_: hi, just a second
<Wizzup> norayr: let me do that first
<Wizzup> norayr: what is your github username
<norayr> norayr
<norayr> (:
<Wizzup> ok
<lel> MerlijnWajer created a repository: https://github.com/maemo-leste-extras/maefat
<Wizzup> did you get one for lagrange now?
<norayr> yes i have it
<norayr> parazyd created it
<norayr> but i cannot push to it
<Wizzup> it still says pending invite
<norayr> ah, invite? wait.
<Wizzup> can you check the invite on github
<Wizzup> you were invited before but they expired
<Wizzup> rafael2k_: so the mobian 5.15 patches disable the lcd driver required for earlier pinetabs
<Wizzup> rafael2k_: it's the one I mentioned in the email
<Wizzup> rafael2k_: I think CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_FEIXIN_K101_IM2BA02
<Wizzup> or CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_FEIYANG_FY07024DI26A30D
<Wizzup> one of those
<norayr> Wizzup: oh, such a shame. just i waited for a long and then gave up waiting.
<Wizzup> rafael2k_: I checked with zgrep on the pinetab and this is why mine doesn't show display
<norayr> now, can you also give me invite for maefat?
<Wizzup> norayr: yeah so there is no way to do it other than invite
<Wizzup> norayr: I gave you invites for all three
<norayr> okay
<Wizzup> norayr: and you should get emails about this I think
<norayr> the last email didn't sync. and then i switched to it, when you said, and it was already in my sylpheed. (:
<Wizzup> freemangordon: I need to gather my thoughts on next prios, don't have answers to the translations yet, this last 10 days have been crazy
<norayr> yay, i hope today we'll have two more apps in HAM.
<norayr> because these two are tested.
<Wizzup> great
<freemangordon> Wizzup: sure, no hurry
<rafael2k_> Wizzup: right, so if is not there, better we just added it and also upgrade to latest greatest patchset for 5.15
<rafael2k_> *we just add
rafael2k_ is now known as rafael2k
<Wizzup> rafael2k: yes, but I was struggling to add it with quilt
<rafael2k> Wizzup: it is really a pain do this... I'm doing it by hand, not using no tool apart of patch and diff
<rafael2k> :(
<Wizzup> rafael2k: so I think we both need to learn quilt
<Wizzup> apparently it's not too bad

<norayr> i think jenkins picked it up automatically.
<norayr> or someone did it.
<norayr> because i now can search and find both maep and lagrange in phoenix.
<norayr> maep was build successfully
<norayr> lagrange was not built yet.
<norayr> ah no, only lagrange is seen, not maefat.
<norayr> yeah, and the build fails... don't understand why fro console output.
<norayr> it works for me on device with dpkg-buildpackage -b -uc.

<Wizzup> yeah debian has a lot of doc on it, maybe take a look

<norayr> not very useful... i also read git-buildpackage and gbp.conf manuals. :/
<norayr> compared build process to other packages. compared rules/control files.
<norayr> something very easy is here..
<sicelo> Haven't followed the context fully, but, why don't you just use simple versioning instead of that date+NmN versioning? Yours is an extras package, so I don't believe you're required to name things that way
<sicelo> At least my packages don't use that method
Daanct12 has joined #maemo-leste
Danct12 has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]
<norayr> sicelo: i don't use date anymore, i tried many versions.
<norayr> last one is just 0.1 in changelog, and 0.1 tag.
<norayr> last error is:
<norayr> gbp:error: Non-native package 'lagrange' has invalid version '0.1+2m7'
<norayr> this 2m7 gets added to other packages as well.
<freemangordon> norayr: does 'gbp buildpackage' succeeds locally?
<norayr> i only tried dpkg-buildpackage. let me try!!!
<norayr> freemangordon: wow, same error.
<freemangordon> try with version 0.0.1
<norayr> gbp:error: Non-native package 'lagrange' has invalid version '0.0.1'
<norayr> but i didn't add the tag. but it took the version from changelog.
<freemangordon> you need tag
<freemangordon> sec, will clone and check
<norayr> i did git tag 0.0.1
<norayr> and same error.
<freemangordon> ok
<freemangordon> maybe debian/format is wrong
<freemangordon> as afaik non-native packages should have version numbers like x.y.z-n
<freemangordon> but lemme try it here first
<norayr> thaaanks
<norayr> interesting, with that i have gbp:error: 0.0.1 is not a valid treeish
<freemangordon> you need tag
<norayr> changelog has 0.0.1-2
<norayr> i tagged it as 0.0 because https://leste.maemo.org/Development/Building_Packages#The_git_tag says so.
<freemangordon> your tag should be 0.0.1
<freemangordon> no
<norayr> ok
<norayr> yes, it started to build.
<norayr> buuuuut
<norayr> the upstream version is 0.0.1-1, but the version itself doesn't change i believe.
<norayr> he just uses master.
<norayr> so ok doesn't matter.
<norayr> if i use 0.0.1, how i differentiate from 0.0.1-3 ?
<freemangordon> well, you tag the 'upstream' version
<freemangordon> and change the stuff in debian/patches
<freemangordon> CI uses tag to pull everything *outside* debian
<freemangordon> the stuff in debian/ can be changed without re-tegging
<freemangordon> why did you choose quilt source format?
<norayr> i didn't, the upstream contains
<norayr> contained debian directory, probably they are trying to commit to sid.
<freemangordon> norayr: why do you need source format 3.0 (quilt)?
<freemangordon> ah
<norayr> i changed debian directory and cmake configuration.
<norayr> a bit. to install to /usr/share/applications/hildon and prepared maemo specific 48x48 icon.
<freemangordon> norayr: you should have changed the version to 0.0.1-1+maemo1
<freemangordon> 0.0.1 is upstream version
<freemangordon> 1 is debian version
<freemangordon> maemo1 is leste version
<norayr> i'll change now.
<norayr> but debian version is 9, no?
<freemangordon> or leste1?
<norayr> or 10
<freemangordon> no, why?
<norayr> beowulf is 9 or 10, i don't remember.
<freemangordon> lagrange (0.0.1-1) unstable; urgency=low
<norayr> ah, you mean a debian package version?
<freemangordon> yes
<freemangordon> yes, leste1
<freemangordon> so 0.0.1-1+leste1
<freemangordon> your tag should be 0.0.1
missMyN900 has joined #maemo-leste
<norayr> and next time?
<freemangordon> and if you make changes to everything outside debian/ you have to make patches
<norayr> when i build something but he doesn't change this 0.0.1 to 0.0.2
<norayr> i mean the tag.
<freemangordon> oh, tag it ot 0.0.1-1
<freemangordon> no, you change only lesteN version
<norayr> i have -maemo1 in changelog now.
<norayr> gbp:error: 0.0.1-1 is not a valid treeish
<norayr> tag is 0.0.1
<freemangordon> no
<freemangordon> it must be *+leste1*
<freemangordon> not -maemo1
<freemangordon> 0.0.1-1+leste1
<norayr> let me fix. interesting, my other package doesn't have this.
<freemangordon> most-probably source format is not quilt
* freemangordon is afk
<norayr> is it sure +leste1 not -leste1 ?

<norayr> hopefully will figure it out.
<missMyN900> I provided some more information on the black screen bug last night (UTC-7, that is)
<missMyN900> I have also discovered that it seems that I can pretty reliably work around it by pressing the power button multiple times in rapid succession
<missMyN900> I also did a little experiment to test the battery drain
<missMyN900> according to the battery indicator the battery was roughly 50% full (it does not show a percentage) when I put the PP in offline mode and locked the screen before going to bed
<missMyN900> unfortunately the phone was completely dead 8 hours later when I woke up
<missMyN900> so in other words, the drain is pretty severe and it is not the WiFi/modem that is causing it
<missMyN900> it also seems to me that this is a scenario where the A64 suspend should at least be highly effective, so surely there must still be some room for improvement for ML on the PP?
<norayr> 50% is 8 hours is cool.
<norayr> you can measure the power in console by
<norayr> upower -d
<Wizzup> missMyN900: sounds like a bug in mce wrt black screen

<Wizzup> yes, but that means nothing else will work
<Wizzup> e.g. you can't listen to music
<Wizzup> or keep some application listening to internet traffic for incoming xmpp messages
<missMyN900> Wizzup: honestly, that is acceptable to me for tablet use. I plan on just using my Pinephone as a mini Pinetab with LTE available should I need it
<missMyN900> Wizzup: furthermore, the effort should transfer to the actual Pinetab itself since it has exactly the same SoC
<missMyN900> and the Pinetab IMHO could truly be a great Maemo Leste device, especially for dev
<Wizzup> missMyN900: right, it's useful but not really for "our" normal phone purposes
<Wizzup> but yes, it ought to be worked on some, it could be done with some mce module probably
<missMyN900> It is cheap and versatile (Pinetab)
<Wizzup> like lock -> sleep unless in call
