or you can use a version register. If that doesn't exist yey, you also mean a new compatible value to distinguish between the variant with and without version register.

bisecting.
<DerekKozel[m]>
_florent_: Setting up a matrix discord bridge is super quick. GNU Radio uses this service and it's reliable except when very busy when it can be somewhat laggy.
<_florent_>
Hi, since it can be more convenient than IRC for some developers (and also for me I think); I just created a Discord server for LiteX: https://discord.gg/Qhz8yEZA
<tpb>
Title: LiteX (at discord.gg)
<_florent_>
DerekKozel[m]: Hehe, you've been faster than me :), thanks for the link for the bridge, I was going to have a closer look at this
<DerekKozel[m]>
I don't use discord, so desperate not to get disconnected :)
<DerekKozel[m]>
To be fair, I'd forgotten that this channel is authoritatively hosted on IRC

bisecting litesdcard fails
<somlo>
MoeIcenowy: I'd try bisecting myself, but weirdly enough sdcard works for me (on litex+rocket, tested on nexys video and ecpix5) both in the litex bios and in linux
<somlo>
so maybe something else is broken on your setup?
<somlo>
should be easy to test with the top commit applied (squashed irq support for liteuart) vs. removed (everything as it was before for a very long time, only rebased on top of the latest Linus tree as of this morning)
<somlo>
I figured since the individual "sausage-making" commits are now rebased on top of tty-next, we can just have a single commit reflecting the whole thing applied in litex-rebase, temporarily, until the "real" patches make it upstream
<somlo>
on the off chance any of the uart irq stuff is what breaks things for you, we'll have a chance to address it before I'll submit the (inevitable) v5
