<omanom>
i mean, wasn't the idea behind the "kiss community package repo" that things people found to be common could/should be packaged there?
<omanom>
if you don't like/want the provider that the package in kiss community uses, you just fork the package yourself and establish priority using KISS_PATH?

maximum_yellow's concern is probably related to discussions re: libuuid && util-linux
<dilyn>
there's no *good reason* to have util-linux if you just want jfs, for instance
<dilyn>
nothing in the main repo requires util-linux either; it's all community stuff. We only had it for eudev iirc...
<testuser[m]>
but vro btrfs-progs
<dilyn>
sure, we'd adopt it
<dilyn>
does btrfs-progs require more than just lib{uuid,blkid}??
<testuser[m]>
no
<dilyn>
:v
<testuser[m]>
it already is in community
<omanom>
oh ok, i misunderstood then. thanks for the clarification!
<dilyn>
I mean we only had it in the main repo for eudev when that was a thing, the community packages just leveraged its existence for libuuid
<dilyn>
I'm uncertain if there's good reason to have util-linux in the main repo tbh. You'll already have your disks partitioned when installing KISS, so you don't need its fdisk until later...
<midfavila-laptop>
wouldn't be able to fit what I want into such a device
<omanom>
what is too big? or is it more a power issue
<midfavila-laptop>
the latter, but moreso a lack of connectors
<midfavila-laptop>
you can't have both a not-shit screen and a cellular modem, for example, unless you want to fuck around with USB, which I don't
<omanom>
or get real fancy with your soldering and the GPIO pins!
<midfavila-laptop>
I could do that, but then I'd end up with a bunch of wasted time, money and energy to get an inferior version of something that already exists
<omanom>
and, knowing your history of accidents with pointy objects, probably a bunch of soldering iron burns
<midfavila-laptop>
that was once >:c
<midfavila-laptop>
i swear, you cut your hand open with a 20th century bayonet *once* and then everyone thinks of you as the guy who can't be trusted with sharp objects
<midfavila-laptop>
smh
<midfavila-laptop>
my
<midfavila-laptop>
damn
<midfavila-laptop>
head
<testuser[m]>
midfavila-laptop: hi
<midfavila-laptop>
hi
<midfavila-laptop>
ugh, all the cool UMPCs or tablet PCs that I've seen don't really have an aftermarket presence... maybe I'll just say fuck it and get a general dynamics laptop or something
