<TuxTheArchUser> ZeroPi is very interesting
<DC-IRC>
<TuxTheArchUser> I wish there was a bit smaller version
<DC-IRC>
<TuxTheArchUser> Like without Ethernet port and USB replaced with USB-C or Micro USB

<archetech>
all good but did you find the module issue

<linfax>
archetech: not yet, it was in fact more about the general availability and usage of kernel debuggers for embedded devices
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> I have "never" found a device driver or module that couldn't be kernel traced during runtime that needed preboot/boot time and I have been doing this since the Linux kernel existed
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> Debugging kernel drivers in my experience has always been augmented better by added proper traces to the code and output there.

<tenkawa42> Y(M/K)MV though
<jspiros>
you've been linuxing since the early 90s?
* jspiros
bows to the old-timer
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> jspiros: yep... 93.. was an old Unix guy before that... so I started right away when I heard about it
<jspiros>
although I tried a boxed copy of Mandrake Linux around 1999, I didn't properly start using Linux until I started using Debian in 2002
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> Heheh.. I remember "box" copies as well as my old Slackware floppy sets
<jspiros>
:)
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> I miss HP-UX the most though
<archetech>
my first box was RH 7
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> (That's what I did for a long time in my career)
<jspiros>
I only interacted with HP-UX via a build farm, Sourceforge's maybe
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> archetech: WS or EL?
<archetech>
ws
<jspiros>
I have machines in storage that ran IRIX and Solaris, and I have an Alpha box that I never actually ran so I dunno what
<jspiros>
er, dunno what it has on its HDD
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> Irix was fun....
<jspiros>
but in the end I love Debian to the ends of the Earth, it is my one true OS love :)
<archetech>
I came from mainframes to lan-pc when it started lantastic and novell 3
<archetech>
rg58
<jspiros>
oh and I have many Macs, so some playing with A/UX and mkLinux and many years of intense use of Mac OS X
<jspiros>
but I have spent the last decade trying to reduce my Mac OS X use and increase my Linux use
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> jspiros: my UI/Desktop env has been OS/X since it came into existence
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> especially now with the ARM64 transition
<DC-IRC>
<tenkawa42> I use Linux VM's for all my Linux needs
<jspiros>
I have been sad about how Apple has managed the Mac platform for years now, so that accelerated my trying to move off it for essential stuff, even my primary desktop is now Debian, but I still use a MacBook Air (from 2013, granted) running OS X as my primary laptop, but it's kind of a thin client as I store everything on servers, and mainly use web browser and terminal
<jspiros>
I still prefer Mac OS X UI conventions but I became a believer in free software ideology and want to do what I can to avoid dependence on it, even if it is nice
<jspiros>
I used to be a Mac application developer, sold some shareware
<jspiros>
I still have an iMac in a storage room that I interact with remotely to run some legacy programs that I still rely on, Aperture for my digital photo library, iTunes for music and managing iPod and iPhone
<jspiros>
not sure if I'll ever be fully off it
