<sevan> would it be possible to publish a kernel headers package for the version of kernel which is shipped with the pinebook image?
<sevan> system boots 6.1 kernel but only headers for 5.x are available and installed.
<sevan> the lack of headers prevents the installation of ZFS unfortunately :(
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> sevan: you can use the builder to retrieve them

<sevan> tekawa42: understood, I will investigate that (I'm a newcomer to the project)
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> I'm trying to investigate more however the repo is anaccessible atm..
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> er inaccessible
<sevan> ah
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> (just the repo for the website references for that machine specificly)

<sevan> tenkawa42: you mean on https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-a64/ ?
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> sevan: do you have the non-pro model?
<sevan> yes
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> if so that's an autogenerated image
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> We don't do anything for it
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> Its unsupported
<sevan> cool, so where's the headers package?
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> (No maimtainer currently)
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> sevan: there's not one
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> you have to build it manually
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> using the builder
<sevan> understood
<sevan> is it not a bug that the autogenerated image mismatches the kernel headers package?
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> again... unsupported and running on auto... probably running autoscripts
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> again... unsupported and running on auto... probably running autoscripts that need updated

<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> Even the PBP just was updated in the system recently
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> which is currently not 100% working
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> I can tell you though from personal experience... be careful in general with 6.1 kernels
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> 6.1 was "not" a good round of the kernel
<sevan> that's interesting. hardware support wise it's been really good.
<sevan> I have working wifi & sleep/resume
<sevan> audio is detecte but I don't think this thing has speakers
<sevan> graphics is an issue though
<sevan> e.g cursor in libreoffice doesn't work, moving between lines in the word processor leaves trails
<sevan> In gnome I also have issues with firefox not displaying, e.g I can try to open new tabs but the window freezes and doesn't dispay them. Restarting firefox shows the new tabs but again non-functioning.
<archetech> mesa
<sevan> ack

<yang2> How do I display CPU temperature inside "htop" ? I have installed lm-sensors and libsensors, libsensors-dev packages, but it's not displaying

<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> yang2: did you add the graph? if so does it show up just in normal sensors (lmsensors)?
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> and what device?
<Herc> my odroid hc2 running Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Linux 5.4.230-odroidxu4 shows Cpu Temp in htop by default, while my oroidc2 does not.
<Herc> odroidc2: bookworm k 6.1.30-meson64 tho
<Herc> IIRC it was there previously using bullseye, k 5.x.y
<Herc> (not 100% sure)
<yang2> tenkawa42 graph ? Rock 5B
<yang2> Linux rock-5b 5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588
<DC-IRC> <viraniac> prahal Thanks for the correction, and sorry for making that typo
LanDi has quit [Quit: LanDi]
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> yang2: htop requires you to turn it on in the config.. its not on by default
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> f2 setup
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> I don't see it though in the compiled list
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> my 5.10 kernel does see it though in normal sensors
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> temp1: +53.6°C
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> So it must be missing in htop itself
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> (I'm looking at a Rock 5 too atm)
<sevan> prahal: viraniac, thank you both for the pointer :)
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> ahhh
<Herc> tenkawa, htop v2.2 / k5 has the option here, htop v3.3 /k6 doesn't (in F2 setup)
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> temp has to be turned on in main options and a package setup in .htoprc to combine the cores
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> Herc: its a thing with the big.little multi cpu core package bit
<Herc> tenkawa, where can I find details?
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> there's htop's manpage
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> search for temp
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> it will be under libsensors
<Herc> ah, didn think of man, lol
<Herc> didn't*
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> this is the gotcha part
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> . In order for htop to show these
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> temperatures correctly though, a proper configuration of libsensors through its usual configuration files is assumed and that all CPU cores correspond to temperature sensors from the coretemp
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> driver with core 0 corresponding to a sensor labelled "Core 0". The package temperature may be given as "Package id 0". If missing it is inferred as the maximum value from the available per-
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> core readings.
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> problem is.. there's only one core shows up
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> at least when I enabled it
* Herc doesnt /need/ it, just curious ;)
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> yeah this is 3.2.2.. I might pull newest and build it just to see
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> where did you find 3.2.3? 3.2.2 is still newest in debian unstable
<yang2> tenkawa42 yes F2 -> Display options -> Also show CPU temperature
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> ubuntu?
<yang2> i htop 3.0.5-7
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> Herc: I know Debian lags behind a bit
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> yang2: did you read the above? You have to setup htoprc to show temperature
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> for multicore cpu
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> according to its manpage
zeemate has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<yang2> can you paste your htoprc please?
<yang2> i have 8 cores on rock 5
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> I don't have one
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> I don't use htop
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> Herc: hmmm htop's website says 3.2.2 is the newest version... intriguing
<Herc> my bad, sorry, 3.2.2 here too
<yang2> tenkawa42 https://dpaste.org/btxgu/raw -> I have show_cpu_temperature=1
<yang2> but it dosnt show
<yang2> does this have to be "1" ? cpu_count_from_one=0
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> it has to be a specific sensor name ie: label temp1 "Core 0"
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> from what I am finding searching
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> this seems to be a common problem
<yang2> cat /sys/devices/platform/coretemp.0/hwmon/hwmon0/temp1_input
<yang2> doesnt exist
<yang2> will read the backlog in the morning, heading to bed
<Herc> F2 says: Also show CPU temperature (requires libsensors) <-- what pckg do I need to install?
<Herc> nvm, it is lm-sensors
<Herc> hmm, lm-sensors is already the newest version
