i asked a couple of times recently about getting mouse movements via the simple pointer protocol from uefi on tianocore/ovmf. apparently ovmf doesnt implement it but does have stubbed out interfaces so it looks like it does

even low end phones are octa core, and low end laptops are at least dual core
<Ermine>
So it can be only embedded world where single core stuff remains

mjg: been a while since i've seen a single core ARM, and i honeslty can't think of a single core armv8 no
<geist>
it's not intrinsically that way, it's probably just a sweet spot to punch out a 2 or 4 core cluster

I bet certain custoemrs order them by the billions still
<zid>
you just don't notice their existence cus they're in silly toys and stuff
<zid>
or acting as slightly beefier mcus
<geist>
even if it's low end, like an a53 or a55, there's almost always a dual
<geist>
there's obviously armv7-m and armv8-m, but that's the mcu variants. those are almost always single core

heat: I'm starting to think maybe you are wrong about musl using map_fixed for changing perms because I have it running and it seems to be doing that. I don't think it was the spots I said, but there's exactly one spot where map_fixed is called without map_anonymous
<gorgonical>
Also the comments specifically says "re-use the existing mapping" so maybe they do it here
