<zid> I heard you were a giga anus actually
<moon-child> yes I have 1000000000 anuses
<Matt|home> oh maybe not. maybe this is actually C behavior i've never read about.. let's see if clang has the exact same issue or not
<moon-child> Matt|home: what is it?
<Matt|home> tl;dr issue im running into is the equivalent of doing int x = 5; myprint(x); and then myprint running printf and it printing an entirely different number
<Matt|home> aha.. and i am _not_ running into the same issue with clang
<moon-child> can you post a repro
<Matt|home> if clang is smarter though
<Matt|home> eh.. im really sorry that this sounds petty, but im planning on trying to sell this later and i kinda don't wanna make it open source
<Matt|home> basically something's fucking with the stack after stack initialization but before any of my code is run
<Matt|home> here's very specifically what's going on
<Matt|home> so this branch has all the code in one big file, so it's one translation unit. it knows how much data to expect from the functions when it compiles main
<Matt|home> 2nd branch has 2 files with no declerations (fixing with extern), and some of the functions return structs. but gcc doesn't know that and assumes it's an int. and this breaks stack handling causing instructions that erronously clear the pointer
<Matt|home> i assume clang scans for linking across files and works even without a decleration

<bl4ckb0ne> > Wayland proxy is load balancer between Wayland compositor and Wayland client. It prevents Wayland client to be disconnected by Wayland compositor if Wayland client is bussy or under heavy load.
<zid> copeland just needs a small donation of a hundred million dollars for his new yacht
<bl4ckb0ne> no more bussy for firecope
<bl4ckb0ne> are you under heavy load zid

<zid> o *tips fedora*
<gog> like the maryland O
<zid> the what
<gog> is anybody here from baltimore
<gog> explain to zid pls
<zid> my icelandic chart doesn't have ó
<gog> well i can tell you it's very subtle
<FireFly> find a better chart?
<gog> because i went to the pharmacy for some lóritín
<gog> and i asked for "loritin" and the clerk was like "skil ekki"
<gog> vowel shifting is tricky
<zid> ah, it's 'ou'
<zid> why is it not on the fucking vowel chart though
<bl4ckb0ne> gog: i received my tshirt from the band auðn last week im very happy
<FireFly> idk try checking the regular vowel chart,
<gog> never heared of them
<bslsk05> en.m.wikipedia.org: File:Icelandic vowel chart.svg - Wikipedia
<zid> wikipedia doesn't agree that ó exists
<gog> oh shit they're from hveragerði
<gog> my friend lives there
<FireFly> zid: those are phonemes, are you confusing IPA and icelandic orthography?

<bslsk05> www.metal-archives.com: Auðn - Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives
<zid> yea but who the fuck writes a vowel chart without using the letters
<FireFly> the vowel chart would also only show monophtongs, not diphtongs
<zid> what's the point
<zid> You take the *letter* and you put it *on* the chart in the *position* of the sound
<zid> labelling a random dot with its own position makes no sense
<FireFly> well I think for most languages there isn't a 1:1 map between letters of orthography and pronunciation
<zid> like putting a dot at 2,4 on a graph then labelling it [2, 4]
<zid> and not [Japan]
<FireFly> well since it's a diphtong it's not possible to pinpoint to a specific location anyway I guess
<zid> (x axis is population growth, y axis is waifus per person)
<zid> nah you can do diptithoghongs on a vowel chart
<nortti> zid: it's common for vowel charts to be split into monophthongs vs diphthongs
<gog> i am not an icelandic understander
<FireFly> yes, not single ponits :p
<FireFly> points*
<FireFly> but yeah that makes sense

<zid> but yea, ó is ou
<gog> ö
<kof123> so no never been there but ....he lost a dispute with william penn IIRC
<kof123> so he sometimes shows up in law books about jurisdiction
<gog> my wife was born in PA but grew up near baltimore
<nortti> hm, I guess wikipedia often doesn't provide a diphthong chart
<nortti> finnish phonology article doesn't have one either
<zid> wikipedia is bad at linguists
<kof123> wikipedia don't cross-reference across articles :D
<kof123> this is not to say they necessarily conflict, but you may get entirely different stories depending what you look up
<nortti> zid: I think if you just want to know how some writing maps to speech, you'll want https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icelandic_orthography (or s/Icelandic/whatever you want/)
<zid> yea that page has it

<netbsduser> they speak like that in the western isles
<netbsduser> especially in gaelic but also in english

<bl4ckb0ne> cope however it can
<bl4ckb0ne> but here it's the client that chokes
<bl4ckb0ne> server sends event, client cant process them quick enough, queue gets filled up, server yeets the client for being bad
<kof123> > In 1623, Calvert was given a Royal Charter extending the Royal lands and granting them the name the Province of Avalon "in imitation of Old Avalon in Somersetshire wherein Glassenbury stands, the first fruits of Christianity in Britain".^[8] The charter created the province as a palatinate in which Calvert had absolute authority.
<kof123> that's good, one of them ruled over hell temporarily lol

<bl4ckb0ne> yes*
<zid> So it's backig up on WM_MOUSEMOVEs on its event queue, got it
<bl4ckb0ne> probably
