<midfavila-laptop>
i do intend to work through that at some point
<midfavila-laptop>
but math math math math math hhhhhhh
<midfavila-laptop>
i'd like to develop my own lisp shell
<phoebos>
math indeed
<phoebos>
i learnt some perturbation theory today
<midfavila-laptop>
sounds
<midfavila-laptop>
perturbing
<phoebos>
now i can solve all the problems which are almost harmonic oscillators
<phoebos>
or infinite square wells
<phoebos>
:D
<midfavila-laptop>
wow
<midfavila-laptop>
i don't understand any of that
<phoebos>
fisix
<midfavila-laptop>
that explains why
<midfavila-laptop>
graaaaaaaaaaaaaaah i have so much to catch up on ;w;
<midfavila-laptop>
can't wait to finish this current book
<midfavila-laptop>
then I can study physics and the theory of computation and algorithms and calculus and a bunch of other, more interesting things

<midfavila-laptop>
and then,
<midfavila-laptop>
*then* I can btfo all the soydev redditors
<phoebos>
a lot of it is just terminology
<phoebos>
like if you put a ball in a valley and push the ball, it will roll around a bit and it will go up and down with various frequencies and up to various amplitudes
<phoebos>
if the valley is shaped like a quadratic, the type of movement the ball follows is called harmonic oscillation
<phoebos>
which is technically defined by the ball's acceleration being proportional to it's displacement from some centre point
<phoebos>
s/it's/its/
<phoebos>
problems of that type are solvable
<midfavila-laptop>
i see
<phoebos>
but if the valley is shaped very slightly differently, it's not possible to analytically derive expressions for the ball's energy, amplitude, period, etc
<phoebos>
perturbation theory lets you express an unsolvable problem as a sum of solvable perturbations to a solvable problem
<phoebos>
as long as the perturbations are reasonably small
<midfavila-laptop>
that's neat
<natris1979[m]>
noocsharp: do you use dwl?
<noocsharp>
i use sway, but i'd like to use dwl
<natris1979[m]>
I'm trying to figure out what "status bar" kind of thing I should use to show off which screens have stuff on them dwm-style without trying 5 different things
<natris1979[m]>
for some reason not having visual cues is really throwing me off
<noocsharp>
yeah, if i recall correctly it was lack of a status bar that held me back
<natris1979[m]>
yeah, I get not including it to keep it lean, but at least providing some guidance like "I didn't include this, but here's what you can use instead
<natris1979[m]>
... " would be nice
<noocsharp>
tbh i wish i could just use velox
<natris1979[m]>
why can't you?
<noocsharp>
chromium always blackscreens and i'm too lazy to figure out how to debug it
<noocsharp>
although i probably should
<natris1979[m]>
huh interesting
<noocsharp>
also i need to get dmenu running in it
<noocsharp>
since bemenu requires too much protocol support for swc
<natris1979[m]>
ah.
<natris1979[m]>
hmm, velox might work for me
