So how are you guys doing this evening?

<acheam>
hey midfavila
<acheam>
and midfavila-ii
<midfavila>
Hullo.
<acheam>
has kiedtl been around per chance?
<midfavila>
No clue.
<acheam>
midfavila: how goes it?
<midfavila>
It goes. I'm experimenting with CTWM and various filesystem-related programs
<midfavila>
see: ii
<acheam>
nice
<acheam>
what other filesystem-related programs are there?
<midfavila>
well, earlier I found x11fs
<midfavila>
which is exactly what it sounds like lmao
<midfavila>
there's also sshfs and ftpfs, which are a little more pedestrian but still useful
<acheam>
whats the point of all these utilities?
<acheam>
especially because x11fs needs a running daemon anyways
<midfavila>
well, for me at least, I find them effective at reducing overhead
<midfavila>
for example
<midfavila>
i normally use wmctrl+wmutils to control my windows
<midfavila>
but that requires a program for every single operation
<midfavila>
plus a script
<midfavila>
and then sxhkd to bind said script
<midfavila>
x11fs allows you to use regular unix tools and the filesystem to control things, in comparison
<midfavila>
so you can eliminate the need to have like 20+ tools on the system
<acheam>
hmm
<acheam>
nice
<noocsharp>
so it's trying to be plan9 but worse
<midfavila>
ultimately I suppose it comes down to user preference
<midfavila>
well
<midfavila>
yes
<midfavila>
:v
<midfavila>
but unfortunately I can't switch to using p9 as my main OS yet
<midfavila>
so I have to settle for making linux as close as possible to it
<midfavila>
ugh, whoever let that root cert expire needs to be reprimanded
<noocsharp>
