<c0rnelius> lanefu: Did they send you a Radxa Zero?
<lanefu> Supposed to but haven't received one
<lanefu> I might have caved and ordered a few 2 gig ones from ameridroid. Seem like might be fun gifts
<lanefu> 💸
<c0rnelius> That sucks. I looked on the forum and saw the grand 800 units they are shipping out t peeps. Said Armbian was on the list.
<c0rnelius> Yeah I ordered one too. Says late Dec.? Probs get it in Jan if I'm lucky.

<c0rnelius> Ameridroid are the worst.
<c0rnelius> I wish https://chicagodist.com/ would get some more interesting stuff
<c0rnelius> They ship quick and the send you a email about what else they should distribute, but of course never follow up on the response given.
<c0rnelius> I'm always like this and that and don't forget this one... and... nothing.
<c0rnelius> I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure its like Ameridroid which is essentialyl a Mom & Pop shop for distribution. From what I can tell.
<c0rnelius> essentially*
<lanefu> I haven't had any problems with ameridroid

<binarym> i'm facing a reproductible issue with a nanopi r2s
<binarym> even if i shut it down properly (halt -p)
<binarym> when i switch on
<binarym> it stayed stucked somewhere during the boot
<binarym> when i plug on the serial line, i get messy output (unprintable characters)
<binarym> but hitting enter some times looks enought to make it finish its boot process
<binarym> any idea ?
<c0rnelius> Is it hanging during uboot or after it gets handed off to the kernel? whats ur dmesg look like?
<binarym> i get nothing in dmesg, because when booting, kernel log buffer get filled by iptables logs
<binarym> i'm gonna try to resolve the serial line issue
<binarym> it's a good way to investigate

<c0rnelius> Have you checked to if its a service fail? `sudo systemctl status` if you see degraded then run `sudo systemctl` and find the service that is failing.
<c0rnelius> Usually hitting enter a bunch of times will skip the service from continuing to try and load.

<binarym> c0rnelius: hmmm
<binarym> i have "haveged" service that is failed (entropy) ....
<c0rnelius> this is on aarch64?
<c0rnelius> I've seen it happen on arm, but not arm64.
oida has joined #armbian
<c0rnelius> this was my fix for the issue -> https://paste.debian.net/1222266/
<c0rnelius> but like I said, I've never seen the fail on arm64
<binarym> c0rnelius: yep !
<c0rnelius> might not work.
<binarym> root@ice:~# uname -mri
<binarym> 5.10.27-rockchip64 aarch64 unknown
<c0rnelius> after the reload and restart check it `sudo systemctl status haveged`
<binarym> hmmm
<binarym> still broke
<binarym> its marked as killed
<binarym> and i get the following line on my dmesg:
<binarym> [ 5469.709594] audit: type=1326 audit(1638807598.398:3): auid=4294967295 uid=0 gid=0 ses=4294967295 subj==unconfined pid=2351 comm="haveged" exe="/usr/sbin/haveged" sig=31 arch=c00000b7 syscall=214 compat=0 ip=0xffffb5674794 code=0x0
<c0rnelius> well thats obviously not the fix :) remove the file and reload and restart the daemon to bring it back to normal.
<c0rnelius> You could simply stop and disable the service? See if it creates any issues with it not being active?
<c0rnelius> If it doesn't just purge the thing.
<c0rnelius> google searching the fail doesn't bring up much.
<binarym> i can remove it without apt complaining
<binarym> let's say that will be the fix for me :)
<c0rnelius> There is also `rngd` which can be used instead of haveged. Alpine fellas use it, it supports both hw rng and software "jitter".
<binarym> thx c0rnelius for the tip
<c0rnelius> ur welcome
