(looks at the linux Zvk* patches) i wonder if there'd be a use case for pure-V implementations of any of the primitives

it's not like chacha cannot be expressed without vrol, implementations of aes using partial bit-slicing are less trivial but also well-trodden ground

Does Linux mainline 6.6 now have complete GPIO support for allwinner D1? I can’t identify it after testing, so I’m not sure if it’s a kernel problem.

IMO this is one of those things where we'll have to see what HW shows up. If vector crypto is super common then it might not be worth doing the V implementation, but if more V-without-crypto stuff shows up then it's probably worth looking into

riscv-cheri got rid of all of the ISAv9 load/store .cap .ddc instructions so the only way to do code generation in the hybrid ABI is with liberal use of cmodeswitch, and cmodeswitch effectively needs to execute without a flush?
<jrtc27>
I'm not a fan, but hybrid is also trash
<jrtc27>
so eh
<jrtc27>
but yes
<jrtc27>
it shouldn't be hard to make it not flush though, it's just 1 bit of state to keep track of in the decoder
<jrtc27>
at least, that's my claim

hey guys
<ksbedfordjr>
whats going on with the debian servers
<jrtc27>
context?..
<ksbedfordjr>
Calling artifact function [ artifact_armbian-base-files_prepare_version() ]
<jrtc27>
(also, doesn't seem to be down, just slow to respond, so your 10s timeout is a bit aggressive)
<jrtc27>
well what is "it"
<ksbedfordjr>
this is the armbian riscv builder
<jrtc27>
no, the thing you want to get
<ksbedfordjr>
so I dont get why they do it this way
<ksbedfordjr>
the base-files deb
<ksbedfordjr>
for sid
<jrtc27>
deb.debian.org?..
<jrtc27>
or another mirror of your choosing/
<ksbedfordjr>
under b there is no base-files deb pkg
<jrtc27>
(i.e. go download the sid binary-riscv64 Packages file, parse it to find the package version and download the file with the corresponding name)

the definition of the capability bounds encoding in cheri-riscv is nigh incomprehensible and refers me to the SAIL, but the SAIL is for ISAv9(?) and has a very different set of features
