<gurki>
sounds like a case of "might be available in a year ... possibly ..."
<gurki>
ah. they are trying to grab preorder money before the design is even complete
<gurki>
sounds like a big red flag to me.
<muurkha>
race to the bottom, but not in terms of pricing, rather, in terms of the funding model
<muurkha>
it's normal to get a loan from a bank or an investment from a VC before your design is even complete
<muurkha>
but right now those things are unavailable, so customer prepayment is the only realistic possibility
<muurkha>
if it's open-source, VC investment wouldn't be a realistic avenue anyway
<gurki>
muurkha: i dont mind the concept if people are straightforward about it
<gurki>
this is nowhere near a "preorder" state
<gurki>
this is crowdfunded dev. which is okay, if you are open about the very valid possibility that this will not work out
<muurkha>
agreed
<davidlt>
Is this about Oasis?
<davidlt>
If yes, it's truly very early stages.
<muurkha>
yes, "the Milk-V Oasis with SG12345"
<geertu>
muurkha: SG2380? Google gives no results with SG12345 ;-)
<muurkha>
haha yes, I just couldn't remember the arbitrary random number they inserted for uniqueness

gurki: yeah, lot's of drama in the custom keyboard scene, as people also have unrealistic expectations by some hobbyist managing and paying for their supply chain
