<dsc_>
its amazing how terribly designed CMake is, like they proactively put effort into making the worst build tool possible
<dsc_>
but it could also be even worse, if the syntax was e.g lisp-like

dsc_: honestly autotools is _much_ _much_ worse
<uvos__>
whaat are you up against?
<dsc_>
uvos__: im converting a rather large codebase to 'modern cmake' so that the libs and headers all neatly go into the prefix dir, as well as providing CMake configs so that consumers of those libs can use `find_package(foo)` to use it
<dsc_>
this codebase has cmake from 10 years ago, its spaghetti, and also it supports every architecture/platform under the sun :P
<dsc_>
its good practice though, to get a bit better at cmake
