<sicelo> i see i was ping - eswatini is experiencing extreme civil unrest this week (by our standards, i can say we're at war, since we're not used to this) .. anyway, so internet is off most of the time, by govt. order afaict.
<sicelo> Danct12: you'll have serious issues running Maemo Leste on 5.11. otherwise, it does boot. i don't remember if by 5.11 the mmc ordering was already done. look for a patch by tmlind with subject " ARM: dts: Fix swapped mmc order for omap3"
<Danct12> thanks for heads up, but i didn't meant to boot maemo leste with 5.11
belcher_ is now known as belcher
<sicelo> autoconnect works for me too on droid 4 :)
<sicelo> i tested up to 5.12-rc7 on N900, but yes, as mentioned by others, someone already tested 5.13, and got it to boot
<sicelo> i'm surprised you say LEDs are working for you though - in my experience, from 5.9 onwards, LEDs aren't working
<Danct12> yeep, the keyboard leds turns on but nothing on the screen :)
<sicelo> may also want to have CONFIG_CMDLINE="root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootwait console=tty0 console=ttyS2,115200"
<sicelo> mmm, i think i see ... your leds are turned on by bootloader. i suppose if you were able to get into linux proper, they wouldn't work by then :)
<Danct12> sicelo, the u-boot doesnt turn on the leds tho (2013)
<Danct12> it turns on when the kernel boots
<Danct12> i tried 5.7, it works and the keyboard leds doesnt turn on by default
<sicelo> kernel doesn't automatically turn leds on though ... if they're turning on, something else is causing it. anyway, any luck with 5.13 yet?

<uvos> sicelo: oh no, please do as Wizzup says.
<uvos> to anyone who had the occasional problem where the d4 dident register touches untill you turnd the display off and back on again.
<freemangordon> Wizzup: maybe, but we shall decide how connection dialog should look like first
<Wizzup> huh?
<uvos> that may not just be the hw's fault (altho it dose happen because of that too) i just fixed a bug in touchscreen-buttons that might cause this in rare cases
<Wizzup> uvos: ah, check
<uvos> the bug being that if you press a touchscreen button
<Wizzup> freemangordon: as I understand it, this is already figured out
<freemangordon> Wizzup: by multiplying the connections?
<Wizzup> freemangordon: no, this is solved
<freemangordon> sorry, don;t get it
<freemangordon> how is it solved?
<uvos> and then generate so many events at the same time (within one syn_report) that ts-buttons event que is overrun ts buttons can end up filtering away every touch untill you press and relese the same button again
<Wizzup> freemangordon: so there is per IAP config like this
<Wizzup> +If you set the specific service for an IAP, the IAP result will not show up in
<Wizzup> +the scan dialog without the service, only with the service. E.g.::
<Wizzup> +
<Wizzup> + gconftool /system/osso/connectivity/IAP/DUMMY/service_type -s -t string DUMMY
<Wizzup> + gconftool /system/osso/connectivity/IAP/DUMMY/service_id -s -t string
<Wizzup> + dummy-provider:
<Wizzup> if you do that, then the entries are merged
<freemangordon> ah, so you see only srv provider entry
<Wizzup> so it looks to me that no provider module should say it supports all networks (although it can), but rather it should only say it supports the ones with gconf entries set to itself
<Wizzup> yes
<Wizzup> I was just 'matching' all networks for the purpose of testing
<freemangordon> ah, ok
<Wizzup> I mean I only learned this yesterday
<Wizzup> :)
<freemangordon> :D
<freemangordon> ok, I think I got it
<freemangordon> you may have several connections for one APN, lets say
<freemangordon> then you may want to configure only one of them to connect to vpn (for example)
<freemangordon> may we have more than one srv provider per IAP?
<freemangordon> *can we
<Wizzup> I don't think the gconf schema allows for that at the moment
<freemangordon> string list should be allowed
<Wizzup> hmm
<Wizzup> it's type string, not type string-list
<Wizzup> I belive
<Wizzup> let me find schema..
<freemangordon> ok, if API supports that, we shall extend the schema
<Wizzup> what package owns iap gconf schema actually
<freemangordon> -settings?
<Wizzup> freemangordon: I don't know if it does, does it?
pere has joined #maemo-leste
<freemangordon> no idea, we'll have to check
<Wizzup> my bet is it doesn't
<Wizzup> maybe:
<Wizzup> $ grep -r '"service_type"' connui-*
<freemangordon> but on your initial question - lemme check what it looks like now
<Wizzup> ok
<Wizzup> I am pretty sure it allows for only one in /system/osso/connectivity/IAP/[iapnamehere]/service_type
<Wizzup> which I think makes sense
<Wizzup> you just make another IAP if you want other settings
<Wizzup> the same is true for proxy settings and usch
<Wizzup> s/usch/such/
<Wizzup> brb
<freemangordon> Wizzup: but what if I want 2 VPNs connected at the same time?
inky has joined #maemo-leste
<freemangordon> I think we shall have 'Services' tab in advanced settings, which lists all the installed service providers, with checkboxes, so one can select multiple of them. However, I don;t think this is possible with the current framework (like, what icon will be displayed in connections dialog?)
inky_ has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
<freemangordon> so, maybe a simple list box is a better solution
<freemangordon> hmm, some "multiple providers" icon seems like a solution
<Wizzup> freemangordon: my thought was to have a providers tab, where you can select which one you want
<Wizzup> and perhaps also which 'config' within the provider you want
<Wizzup> and then the providers themselves would be configged from a separate cpa
<freemangordon> Wizzup: this is what I said, though I called it "Services" instead of "Providers"
<Wizzup> yeah, ok, so we agree
<Wizzup> I suggested the same to parazyd ~25 mins ago in pm
<Wizzup> what do you mean with multiple providers icon
<freemangordon> with the only difference that I would allow multiple providers to be selected if FW allows it
<Wizzup> FW?
<freemangordon> framework
<Wizzup> I am pretty sure it doesn't
<Wizzup> but if it does, sure
<freemangordon> I mean - if we have more than one selected provider, we don't know which icon to show
<Wizzup> and then the order of the list would suggest which one goes first
<Wizzup> I think it'd be a radio group, where you can select only one ;)
<Wizzup> (radio button group)
<freemangordon> I'd say listbox, but this is a detail
<Wizzup> terminology :)
<freemangordon> also, I think we already have listbox as a scene widget
<freemangordon> but anyway, if one cannot connect to more than one VPN, then we shall fix that
<freemangordon> looks like a huge gap to me
<freemangordon> I volunteer to implement it :)
<Wizzup> freemangordon: hmm, I am not sure I fully understand
<Wizzup> a single provider could easily do multiple vpns
<Wizzup> if the vpn config allows for it
<Wizzup> although I am not sure if all VPNs can really work as providers, I haven't given that too much thought
<Wizzup> freemangordon: all I am saying is that configuring tor and say openvpn would not work since they are different providers
<Wizzup> it's also something we can definitely defer until later imho
<Wizzup> in any case:
<Wizzup> val = iap_settings_get_gconf_value(iap, "service_type");
<Wizzup> {
<Wizzup> if (val)
<Wizzup> gchar *service_type = g_strdup(gconf_value_get_string(val));
<freemangordon> Wizzup: VPN == provider
<Wizzup> freemangordon: so you want to nest say wireguard and openvpn?
<freemangordon> not nest
<freemangordon> but rather have several vpn connections running over the same wifi connection
<Wizzup> also, independent of IAP specific config, we will also have system-wide stuff
<freemangordon> like openconnect and fortinet
<Wizzup> e.g. libicd-network-tor, where if the gconf system-wide option is set, it would work through plugin, not provider
<Wizzup> regardless of the IAP
<freemangordon> but this is still not I am talking about:
<freemangordon> for example, when I am home I want to be connected to my office VPN and a customer VPN
<freemangordon> while when I am in the office, I don;t want office VPN connected
<freemangordon> do you get the usecase?
<Wizzup> aha, so neither take over your connection, it's just supplement? I'm used to vpn usually taking over my connection
<freemangordon> exactly
<freemangordon> and this better fits the definition of 'service provider' than VPN that takes over the connection
<Wizzup> well, not the icd2 one :p
<freemangordon> well, we'll have to allow that, someday
<Wizzup> afaict the only service provider even mentioned by nokia was one that autoaccepts captive portals for public wifi
<Wizzup> also our providers indeed do not necessarily need to take over the connection
<freemangordon> mhm
<freemangordon> tor is rather an extreme case
<Wizzup> but I think if it's per IAP it usually made more sense, otherwise you can just have tor on all the time, where it doesn't take over
<Wizzup> maybe, tor often is used without 'take over' features
<Wizzup> ok, brb again

<meldrian> got maemo leste running via virtualbox, application manager says there's no connection (did the ifconfig thingy, there's one) and i can't install stuff. Any chances ?
<stan> i suggest you reade generic virtualbox instructions for networking, masquerading and forwarding internal interfaces
<stan> have you gotten networking to outside running with another OS, such as debian/devuan?
<stan> i haven't done it recently, but i did recently get forwarding working from my eth1 to eth0
<parazyd> You need libicd-network-dummy
<parazyd> meldrian: ^
<parazyd> When you install it with apt, you'll see some instructions
<uvos> ham checks with icd to see if its connected instead of just trying to connect?
<uvos> thats a bit silly no?
<meldrian> great parazyd, looks good! "dummy network" shows up and were able to install something now. thanks a lot
<Wizzup> Pali: freemangordon: wrt u-boot, sounds like we need to port to dts, no?
<parazyd> uvos: No, it's supposed to open the connection dialog
<uvos> ok that sounds fine
<uvos> it allows you to try and install an app even if icd dosent have any connections right?
<Wizzup> yes
<Wizzup> iiuc
