<phinxy> I've created /etc/hostname and edited /etc/hosts but hostname in $PS1 \h is still KISS ?
<sewn> reboot
<phinxy> should /etc/hosts be "HOSTNAME" or replaced by my hostname?
<sewn> kris_: is that a split?
<sewn> phinxy: not sure youre supposed to be touching that file to begin with
<midfavila> phinxy: etc/hosts has nothing to do with your machine's host name
<midfavila> your hostsfile is essentially a DNS cache
<midfavila> well
<midfavila> not technically
<midfavila> it's a mapping of names to IP
<midfavila> IPs
<midfavila> but yeah
<midfavila> just edit /etc/hostname and restart
<kris_> sewn nah not a split
<sewn> tell more

<kris_> its a kbdfans kb8x mkiii with the steel weight bar, gasket mounted aluminum plate, full foam kit, and 0.5mm durock poron foam switch pads
<kris_> the switches are gateron ink box blacks with 0.3mm durock foam films and copious amounts of krytox 205g0 lube
<kris_> gateron ink v2 stabilizers also with 205g0
<kris_> kbd8x*
<sewn> kris_: oh so its a normal sized keyboard basically
<kris_> yeah, just a generic tkl
<sewn> aw
<sewn> bummer
<kris_> why tho
<kris_> tkl is the stuff
<sewn> its like that scene from toy story with thousands of models of one of the characters
<sewn> its just like any other generic good sounding keyboard to me
<kris_> the thing i care about the most is how smooth my switches feel
<kris_> the rest of it doesnt really matter much
<sewn> I like seeing keyboard builds with ergonomic layouts
<sewn> making layouts is challenging and lots of fun
<sewn> and finding the right size, key count and key factor for you
<kris_> i may try that out someday
<kris_> i just don't see too much value in ergonomic builds
<kris_> a split could be nice occasionally like when i'm playing a game and literally only need the left half of my keyboard
<kris_> more mouse room
