zorz: if you want the up-phone, can't you just have it shipped to a US friend who's planning to visit you in the near future? That's how my sister in Singapore deals with online booksellers who won't ship outside the USA.
<zorz>
farkuhar: yes this is the only option. but i need to check if i can run on this phone the banking apps
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: zorz: US phones are usually different frequencies to the rest of the world. So they generally don't work
<zorz>
SiFuh: not all of them
<SiFuh>
zorz: 'usually' <--
<zorz>
SiFuh: but you are correct
<zorz>

The UP Phone works with AT&T and T-Mobile networks, along with their Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs).

SiFuh: Also, I believe you causes the GTA effect (aka, you have never experienced something as if it never existed, then someone mentions it, and all of the sudden it keeps on happening all the time).
<remiliascarlet>
Remember when you taught me the word "hangry"? All of the sudden, I frequently hear that word all over YouTube.

Regarding rc-scripts, sh versus bash, and superuser commands that aren't written using absolute paths, stenur pointed us to this thread https://marc.info/?t=166042424200006&r=1&w=2 a few years ago. Message 15 brings back memories of a controversial change in CRUX's /etc/profile.
<farkuhar>
I wasn't able to reproduce stenur's latest problem (building ghostscript when libidn is installed). The ghostscript build log looks the same, with or without libidn, and both trials yield a successful build.
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: I meant the Japanese guy
<SiFuh>
Yeah, do not make turtle soup, let the turtles do smalltalk.
<SiFuh>
And theyy never mentioned but it also fits AAA

SiFuh: Homeless people can be seen under a train bridge next to Akihabara station, inside of Ikebukuro station, and at internet cafe's nationwide.
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: Homeless people can be seen in KL and Penang. I haven't seen them anywhere else.
<SiFuh>
If i was homeless, I'd stay far away from any city. I'd just go jungle.
<remiliascarlet>
And make your own hut there?
<remiliascarlet>
I mean, having a hand made hut in the jungle aside from your more "urbanized" residence can have certain benefits.
<remiliascarlet>
Speaking of jungle, I really got to love lamb meat as of late.
<remiliascarlet>
"We have to work really hard for a low income", yes, very true statement!
<remiliascarlet>
Meanwhile, the old farts earn a lot more, and have to do far less.
<remiliascarlet>
Plebs work hard, managers just sleep at work.
<SiFuh>
I wouldn't build a hut to be honest. No point
<SiFuh>
I would move around a lot
<remiliascarlet>
Doesn't mean you'll need to stay in that hut 24/7.
<SiFuh>
I can't beleive what my virgin eyes just saw

Tiny11 uses *only* 8GB of disk space? Heh, you can be just as productive with a basic installation of OpenBSD that uses only 300MB (if you're willing to go without Xenocara and any graphical apps).
<farkuhar>
The main reason I wiped OpenBSD from that machine is because the soundcard couldn't be initialized without side-loading some third-party firmware. Otherwise, I would have gone on to install Xenocara and a full desktop environment, which still wouldn't exceed 8GB of disk usage.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Send me your computer and I will install OpenBSD on it
<SiFuh>
adb back N6000-20240526.bck -all
<SiFuh>
Hmm wrong window and wrong spelling.
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: that particular device is doing more good as a testing platform for CRUX MUSL. Comparing the size of the two projects, OpenBSD appears to have a greater pool of hardware donations to draw upon, than CRUX MUSL does.
<SiFuh>
You sourpuss. Hahahaha
<farkuhar>
I'm sure the hardware support will land in OpenBSD eventually. It seemed more prudent to let the machine test out the CRUX MUSL ports, than to fiddle around with firmware injection in OpenBSD.
<farkuhar>
But yeah, "offensive content" is how I would characterize any attempt to portray 8.07GB of disk usage as somehow lightweight. If you're going to distribute an OS in binary form (not built from source), then keep it under 700MB or give up the "lightweight" description.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Remember when QNX came out? Fully fledge OS from a floppy disk with GUI and all

Do Expert Fighters and Military Personnel Really Have to Register Their Hands as Deadly Weapons?
<SiFuh>
In one U.S. territory- Guam. There, in Title 10- Health & Safety Division 3- Public Safety, Chapter 62, it states,
<SiFuh>
Any person who is an expert in the art of karate or judo, or any similar physical in which the hands and feet are used as deadly weapons, is required to register with the Department of Revenue and Taxation…
<SiFuh>
You have to register with the tax department. HAHAHAHAHA

farkuhar: I use coolant in my truck. It is from Japan and it is green. Many of the guys he are interested in it but they still all use water. The other day I saw green dripping out of the truck on to the road. I told them. "Good thing I don't use water. I'd never have known about the leak"
