<DC-IRC> <agl> @IgorPec: Are you present?
<Sabotender> which one?
<DC-IRC> <AndyADD> Hello, I have armbian 23.02.2 Focal on Orange Pi Zero 2, I am trying to get endoscope to work with it, and it appears it works when I use the provided usb OTG, from what I have googled it seems the USB-C has OTG, would this mean I can connect endoscope directly to USB-C? I am powering my Pi via gpio right now.

<DC-IRC> <Kanken> i had unfrozen kernel updates...
<DC-IRC> <Kanken> and i think that's what broke it long term
<DC-IRC> <Kanken> in retrospect not a great idea, i thought it may fix a few issues like that broken reboot watchdog
<DC-IRC> <Kanken> rn i don't know if this can even be fixef
<DC-IRC> <Kanken> rn i don't know if this can even be fixed
<DC-IRC> <Kanken> i already backed up all the data so it's not that bad but idk if i should try and fix the current install or start from scratch 🤔
<DC-IRC> <Kanken> seems like it's broken down to the uboot install

<Sabotender> w00t! I have the official orange pi image flashed to sd, and it boots! 💃
<Sabotender> its unfortunate that no armbian image booted. no pwr led lights. nothing.
<p0g0> An OP5?
<Sabotender> orange pi zero 2
<archetech> I tried to tell ya
<DC-IRC> <Jason123> The orange pi zero is old but works and even with all upstream debian packages
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Hii!
<IgorPec> zero 2 not zero 1 @jason123
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> So stupid.
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Old Allwinner is better
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> https://www.armbian.com/cubieboard-1/ will this image work with my Allwinner A10 tablet?
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> funny question. how on earth anyone would know to answer this question? And its for 10 years old hardware. Download and test.

<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> My tablet is 11 years old
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> i understand that. as you can see we never support this unknown a10 based hardware
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> but you can try with image for cubieboard 1
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Oh-
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> with some luck all core functions will work, perhaps you will need to dive in and adjust hw confi
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> with some luck all core functions will work, perhaps you will need to dive in and adjust hw config
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> I was able to run Ubuntu 12.04 on it earlier
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> this tells exactly nothing
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Just had issues with touch screen and WiFi
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> And there was no TTY visible while booting, I was able to see only X11
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> you will almost certainly have issues here too
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Is it possible to preinstall some basic desktop environment or window manager?
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> I was running old linux-sunxi 3.4 kernel
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Mainline is officially supported

<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> With desktop environment
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> and what prevents you?
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> There's no images with desktop environment
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Only CLI
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> there is a build system https://github.com/armbian/build
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Ohh, okayy
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> THank you
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Thank you
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> for unsupported targets you need to use EXPERT=yes flag ... for more dive in

<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> How much disk space do I need?
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Oh-
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> I use Arch... does it means that I also have to install Docker?
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> try. i have to cook lunch
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Okay
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Thank you
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Sorry for disturb
<DC-IRC> <Werner> Either use Docker or spin up a VM with Jammy.

<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> Great, but I think none of is working yet. At least not with standard UEFI image
<DC-IRC> <agl> The UEFI-arm64 Image works on the Galaxy Book S but I can not access the internel SSD and SD-Card and Bluetooth does also not working. Network access goes over an Inateck USB-C box with RJ45 Ethernet.
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Can anyone suggest me some cheap open-source phone/tablet?
<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> I'm too poor to buy PinePhone

<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> agl yeah, this is how it looks like when support is not finished
<DC-IRC> <agl> @IgorPec: I have connected a 1TB SSD over USB at the Inateck USB-C box, and so I can use "armbian/build" from github and build an Image. This works. The X11-Environment does also work.

<DC-IRC> <TuxTheArchUser> Zoom.
<DC-IRC> <AndyADD> So I was asking about this yesterday, but I think what I was missing is that I'll still need an otg cable or is that done internally, and I can just connect a USB c cable?
<DC-IRC> <Esteemed Immortal Doctor Tien> what is "crazy" aarch64 hardware?
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> lot of CPU cores (80-128), lots of memory (256Gb+)
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> lots of CPU cores (80-128), lots of memory (256Gb+)
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> lots of CPU cores (80-128), lots of memory (256Gb+) Ampere servers to be more specfic
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Or my Laptop... lol
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> a few of your laptops 😉
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> If I could ever get a laptop with 32 cores and 128gb of ram and not be bent on having to have the best video card in existence I'd buy it
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> I "don't need video"
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> lol
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> probably there are such laptops, in intel world?
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Oh I have a Apple behemoth already... and I hate X86
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> mac mini m2 pro would also be nice for this job, except memory is a bit too expensive
<DC-IRC> <Werner> More or less a midi tower with flatscreen welded on
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> portable threadripper LOL
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> @Werner x86 though
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> I am done with x86 architecture until I am "forced" back to it
<DC-IRC> <Werner> Could ask them to put ampere altra into it lol
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> @Werner might need to upgrade my neighborhood electrical grid (although my house alone already could power half the neighborhood)
<DC-IRC> <Werner> got big pv?
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> You aren't on the calls but I've mentioned what circuits/setup I have here in my house and garage
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> multiple 110,220 circuits and a 440 circuit
<DC-IRC> <Werner> If you mean the Friday chats then yes, they are kind a late for me
<DC-IRC> <Werner> nice
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Indeed.. former owners were the owners of the local industrial complex down the road
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> Now we use it to power our heavier equipment in our home shop
<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> (Tools/tables/etc)
<DC-IRC> <Jason123> The honeycomb LX2 is somewhat powerful arm device but expensive
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> @hrv published some comparison today https://marcin.juszkiewicz.com.pl/2023/03/15/another-apple-product-at-home/
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> macpro eats honeycomb
<DC-IRC> <Jason123> wow the mac pro does way better
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> also costs more
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> probably. didn't check
<DC-IRC> <Jason123> Its not much more then the honeycomb when factoring in cost of ram and whatever else

<DC-IRC> <Tenkawa> @Kanken yeah I can confirm at least one mirrors image is bad
