<demosspro> Dear friends, have a good day! Can i ask you a question... have we oday some sbc with armbian, were we can easy use some way to play video content without gui? Using some command-line video player with hardware accelerating support?

<Armbian-Discord>
<demosspro> In my project, the device needs to play videos while interacting with the user. VLС work good on a PC, but now, due to technical features, i am need to use SBC, and here the problem of choice ...
<Armbian-Discord>
<amazingfate> mpv can do that
<Armbian-Discord>
<amazingfate> with hardware accelerated ffmpeg
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> Works best on rockchip

<demosspro> i have orange pi 4 lts, and install CLI armbian with 5.15 kernel. Then i install mpv and ffmpeg. but i think - need special version or special configuration on it?
<Armbian-Discord>
<demosspro> can you some help me - or may be you have some manual to rk3399 ( OPI 4 LTS) Thanks.
<Armbian-Discord>
<demosspro> i am find mpv - this look very good, but i think i must some more work with my system to prepare it to work with mpv\ffmpeg with HWdec
<Armbian-Discord>
<demosspro> Armbian 22.11.1 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.80-rockchip64 - use this img for my system - is it right way or i must use some of 6* generation kernel img?
<Armbian-Discord>
<amazingfate> I recommend 6.x kernel.
<Armbian-Discord>
<amazingfate> And you need a version of ffmpeg patched with v4l2-request support
<Armbian-Discord>
<demosspro> Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Orangepi4-lts_sid_edge_6.1.11.img ok - o download it and prepare to install. about ffmpeg - https://github.com/Miouyouyou/FFmpeg-V4L2-Request i find this solution - is it true?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> Yes but not that version
<fatal>
i need to get gpio's for bananapim5 working, specifically the spi one. since there is no overlay for that in bullseye current, i want to know if it is enough to just copy device tree blobs to /boot/dts.../armel/overlays/ or do i have to recompile the kernel for spi support?

the hardware seems to be the same as odroid c4's only that bpi-m5 has different ram and onboard eMMC memory.

<Werner> Nice new toy @NicoD 😄
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> It's a beast. And has a nice clock, I didn't have a clock either 🙂
<nekomancer[m]>
how to use extensions? for example — output-ovh
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> rk3588?
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> Indeed.
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> Most maxed out to the limit RK3588.
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> Installing Armbian now. That's going to be great. Also ordered a 1TB SSD for it. Enough room to stick it at the top of the lid.
<kreyren2>
did anyone try the linux-6.3-rcsomething that has the mainline things for RK3588 yet?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> How much ram?
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> Only 8GB. They do sell it with 16GB too.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Jason123> Not the 32gb 3588 like rockchip says is a thing
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> But honestly, I've not run out of memory with my 8GB devices. Just 16GB is nice to have.
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> I've not seen any boards with 32GB but theoretically it should be possible.
