<Robin> Nice, there has been some sort of update, that makes that the build now (just plain build) doesn't boot anymore. due to this error: Failed to start Access point and authentication server for WiFi and Ethernet.. Anyone an idea how this happens? I'm running on a Orangepione with the following build script: ./compile.sh BOARD=orangepione BRANCH=current RELEASE=jammy BUILD_MINIMAL=no BUILD_DESKTOP=no KERNEL_ONLY=no

I'm trying to do some quick patches to the kernel (adding debug prints to diagnose a kernel issue), but I can't quite figure out how to do this easily with armbian-build. I already tried running in docker-shell, and then I can find the patched kernel sources in cache/sources where I can make the changes I need, but i can't quite figure out the exact make command to compile the kernel. Doing a full
<blathijs>
image compile everytime is a bit cumbersome, I'd rather have short iteration cycle.
<blathijs>
Any suggestions? How do others approach this (might be an XY problem, so different approaches are also welcome)
<blathijs>
You mean the CREATE_PATCHES="yes" way? That still needs to go through a full image build, right? I was hoping I could just do just e.g. "make bzImage" and copy to just the updated kernel to save time. Though maybe combined with BUILD_ONLY=kernel and ccache this is fast enough to work well. I'll try that, thanks!
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> you can build kernel only too

Hi. Is balbes150 here? I would like to ask a question related to TV Boxes possibly only them can answer. How does the boot process work? (Note: I'm trying to port a TV Box to postmarketOS)
<f_>
Well, maybe this should go in #armbian-devel? If so, do tell me.
<f_>
Also, I'm well aware about the fact that TV Boxes are unsupported/not officially supported by Armbian.
<Armbian-Discord>
<ManoftheSea> It should go in "offtopic", as it isn't on-topic for armbian
<Armbian-Discord>
<ManoftheSea> And you should ask on the forum, so if you do get an answer, it can benefit someone else with the same question later.
<f_>
I'll document as much as I can in the pmOS wiki that's for sure.
<f_>
Thanks! I'll ask again, this time in #armbian-offtopic then.

<ManoftheSea> in general, the SOC chip loads the TPL loads the SPL loads U-boot which loads linux.

<ManoftheSea> Are you issuing a different device tree per device instance? I would expect u-boot to do a DTB fixup based on a u-boot env variable, and for the system to use the dtb from u-boot (platform firmware).
