<kreyren> Did `./compile docker-shell`
<kreyren> oh it doesn't have root
<kreyren> sigh
<kreyren> hm? imma maintaining it!
<kreyren> hmm does that mean that i have to mess with the shell source bcs it's not optimized for the board?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> no, it means you need to learn how this is made together
<kreyren> How does one learn such things
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> if board is not maintained, packages might be missing in repository. if its not maintained, it means nobody knows if this works or not
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> you are maintaing this board for your self atm
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> did you find this already https://docs.armbian.com/Board_Maintainers_Procedures_and_Guidelines/
<kreyren> kinda
<kreyren> ehw jira
<kreyren> Hmm i see where it's failing.. likely bcs i am requesting it to do non-free package that it doesn't have added in sources.list
xispita has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> there are logs, look into it
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> output/debug
<kreyren> oh thanks i was doing the snake debugging
<kreyren> Seems to be failing on installation of armbian-bsp-cli-teres-a64
<kreyren> .. which is what it says in the output even without my snakes
<kreyren> hmm
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> yes, this is almost expected on unmainained hardware
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> as we don't make packages for
<kreyren> seems to be in sid considering that the build suceeds on the current thing
* kreyren has to go will be there in ~1.5 h

<alkisg> Hi all; I'm using armbian buster in rockpro64; a recent update of the numix-icon-theme-circle package is compressed with zstd (built in Jammy), so it broke my apt
<alkisg> apt policy numix-icon-theme-circle says candidate version 19.12.27+202301121802~ubuntu22.04.1 comes from http://apt.armbian.com buster/buster-desktop arm64
<alkisg> Question, where would I file a bug report against that? If these builds are on Ubuntu PPAs, bionic or focal need to be used, to avoid zstd...
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> What's the exact error?
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> That would not break the entire apt
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> and buster doesn't come from Ubuntu/Jammy so it shouldn't be in there at all
<alkisg> If apt fails to decompress a package, it stops processing other packages too
mghaan[m] has joined #armbian
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> buster is Debian
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> not Ubuntu
<alkisg> I completely agree with that. But in your buster repositories, you have a package that was built in jammy
<alkisg> Let me get you the download URL...
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> not that I'm seeing
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Yes please
<alkisg> apt policy numix-icon-theme-circle | nc termbin.com 9999 ===> https://termbin.com/n33h
<alkisg> The candidate version, 19.12.27+202301121802~ubuntu22.04.1, comes from 500 http://apt.armbian.com buster/buster-desktop arm64 Packages
<alkisg> Let me get you the Release file for that...
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> it might be this one
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> which does seem out of place
<alkisg> Maybe that developer doesn't have build machines handy
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> numix-icon-theme-circle_19.12.27%2B202301121802~ubuntu22.04.1_all.deb: Debian binary package (format 2.0), with control.tar.zs, data compression zst
<alkisg> And thought to build on launchpad using a recipe, then upload to armbian
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> yeah thats not right
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> that shouldn't be a zst
rpardini has joined #armbian
<alkisg> That's not a problem per se; but ubuntu switched to zstd in 21.10, and that won't work in debian until bookworm is out
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> I'll pass that on
<alkisg> Thank you :)
<alkisg> I apt-mark hold it in the meantime, the workaround wasn't an issue

<kreyren> Is there a way for me to declare linux-u-boot-olimex-teres-a64-current without having to sign my soul to attlasion to use Jira
<kreyren> or am i doomed to building things myself @_@
<kreyren> not that i complain it's kinda preferable
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> kreyren: why are you sending a lot of 1-line PRs? I appreciate the intention, but we need help, not more work. Reviewing a gaziliion PRs does not help. Send a single self-contained once you're done and 100% sure about it. Don't send PRs asking for help. Please understand, we're a small project.
<kreyren> rpardini bcs those two were just lacking documentation for options nothing really more to include
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> also: There's a huge effort going into a major rework, and documenting the old version now is a 1) waste; 2) counter-productive; 3) time consuming.
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Oh boy, documentation on next gonna be fun ^^
<kreyren> idc for rework i care for my system working now (TM)
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> can be done as today, commits and code is well documented
<kreyren> oh rework is this close to finishing?
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> armbian-next is gonna be... self-documenting. one day.
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> neat. Did not really look at any code yet, just tested it with various builds
<kreyren> self-documenting? hmm it's written in lisp?
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> kreyren I am not gonna engage you. I've seen your antics. please stop.
<kreyren> hm?
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Ideally correctly SCCS implementations log change notes in a documentable format
<kreyren> So can i use the armbian-next branch or what should i do in relation to the least painless way to get armbian working on my olimex teres a64
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> The code is here: https://github.com/armbian/build/tree/armbian-next-v1
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> And in terms of progress of next I suggest to watch the previous developer meetings: https://forum.armbian.com/forum/39-armbian-project-administration/
<kreyren> oh v1
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> what is armbian-next-v1 ?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> @Werner that -1 is orphan
<kreyren> *wish someone told me about it yesterday after i spend most of the day speedreading the current base*
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> not my branch nor push.
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> 🙂 i did rootfs testing from it the other day
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Ah okay, I checked out once it was still current 😄
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> impossible. I push multiple times a day...
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> lets remove that -v1 then? ppl will be confused.
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> removeed
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> it's confusing enough already (my fault) hehe
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> good
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> we gotta make the whole thing more official
<kreyren> so umm what do i do?
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> kreyren: I'd say enjoy the videos for now 🙂
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> kreyren: you go watch the developer meetings. there's probably 10 hours of stuff.
<kreyren> hmm i will throw that at my PA to give me a summary then
<kreyren> ehww zoom
<kreyren> nevermind.. can someone give me a summary of that?
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> ok can we de-voice this person?
<kreyren> what's your problem i am trying to find the most efficient solution to support of my board and you tell me go watch 10h video
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> kreyren: again, not gonna engage you.
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> please stop?
<kreyren> stop with what if you don't want to engage me for some reason then just ignore me i guess
<Armbian-Discord> <rpardini> ¯_(ツ)_/¯
<kreyren> is the armbian-next-v1 able to generate the board OS for flashing if i go in and change variables or does it need more care?
