hmm does that mean that i have to mess with the shell source bcs it's not optimized for the board?
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> no, it means you need to learn how this is made together
<kreyren>
How does one learn such things
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> if board is not maintained, packages might be missing in repository. if its not maintained, it means nobody knows if this works or not
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> you are maintaing this board for your self atm
<kreyren>
Hmm i see where it's failing.. likely bcs i am requesting it to do non-free package that it doesn't have added in sources.list

<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> output/debug
<kreyren>
oh thanks i was doing the snake debugging
<kreyren>
Seems to be failing on installation of armbian-bsp-cli-teres-a64
<kreyren>
.. which is what it says in the output even without my snakes
<kreyren>
hmm
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> yes, this is almost expected on unmainained hardware
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> as we don't make packages for
<kreyren>
seems to be in sid considering that the build suceeds on the current thing

has to go will be there in ~1.5 h

Hi all; I'm using armbian buster in rockpro64; a recent update of the numix-icon-theme-circle package is compressed with zstd (built in Jammy), so it broke my apt
<alkisg>
apt policy numix-icon-theme-circle says candidate version 19.12.27+202301121802~ubuntu22.04.1 comes from http://apt.armbian.com buster/buster-desktop arm64
<alkisg>
Question, where would I file a bug report against that? If these builds are on Ubuntu PPAs, bionic or focal need to be used, to avoid zstd...
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> What's the exact error?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> That would not break the entire apt
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> and buster doesn't come from Ubuntu/Jammy so it shouldn't be in there at all
<alkisg>
If apt fails to decompress a package, it stops processing other packages too

<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> buster is Debian
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> not Ubuntu
<alkisg>
I completely agree with that. But in your buster repositories, you have a package that was built in jammy
<kreyren>
Is there a way for me to declare linux-u-boot-olimex-teres-a64-current without having to sign my soul to attlasion to use Jira
<kreyren>
or am i doomed to building things myself @_@
<kreyren>
not that i complain it's kinda preferable
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> kreyren: why are you sending a lot of 1-line PRs? I appreciate the intention, but we need help, not more work. Reviewing a gaziliion PRs does not help. Send a single self-contained once you're done and 100% sure about it. Don't send PRs asking for help. Please understand, we're a small project.
<kreyren>
rpardini bcs those two were just lacking documentation for options nothing really more to include
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> also: There's a huge effort going into a major rework, and documenting the old version now is a 1) waste; 2) counter-productive; 3) time consuming.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Werner> Oh boy, documentation on next gonna be fun ^^
<kreyren>
idc for rework i care for my system working now (TM)
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> can be done as today, commits and code is well documented
<kreyren>
oh rework is this close to finishing?
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> armbian-next is gonna be... self-documenting. one day.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Werner> neat. Did not really look at any code yet, just tested it with various builds
<kreyren>
self-documenting? hmm it's written in lisp?
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> kreyren I am not gonna engage you. I've seen your antics. please stop.
<kreyren>
hm?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Ideally correctly SCCS implementations log change notes in a documentable format
<kreyren>
So can i use the armbian-next branch or what should i do in relation to the least painless way to get armbian working on my olimex teres a64
<Armbian-Discord>
<Werner> Paying attention to what is told to you makes things more comfortable for both of us 😄
<Armbian-Discord>
<Werner> -v1 has been removed to make more clear that "armbian-next" (w/o -v1) is the most up-to-date branch. This happened shortly after I mentioned the v1 branch to you.
<kreyren>
oh i pulled out the good european who respects privacy of others when they having a discussion~
