<Armbian-Discord> <P1kachu> Hi Community,
<Armbian-Discord> <P1kachu> my hp 107a printer e getting disconnected when I am giving print command 🫤 any solution?
<Armbian-Discord> <P1kachu> Thanks
<stipa> i have CUPS server and avahi service running
<stipa> fro a network printer
<stipa> in CUPS server you can select a driver, there are a few to choose so you could find one that doesn't disconnect if lucky
<stipa> avahi automatically finds your printer on the network
<stipa> install those two on your machine where you're printing from
<stipa> CUPS is accessed via web browser
<stipa> avahi is just a service without gui
<stipa> poke around

<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> Hi to all.
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> I've a throuble with Armbian first boot, because from Documents requires a DHCP, but in my factory only static IP can be used.
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> There is a way to define IP/NP/Gateway/DNS for first boot after SD image writting ?
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Try mounting the sdcard fs on a different Linux computer and then do the adjustments
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> Thanks Werner I will try with a vmware linux machine !
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Yeah, passing through USB microSD adapter should be easy
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Depending on userspace you have to check by yourself where to adjust things like netplan or interfaces and so son
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Alternativly if you have on hand use USB UART adapter to login via serial console and then do the network changes in the live system

<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> Thanks... I'm moving from Raspberry Pi4 (with Raspian) to Orange Pi 4 Lts (with Armbian).
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> I would like to be able to use libcamera with Orange Pi 4 Lts (to port a current Rpi4 embedded camera with I've made some time ago).
crabbedhaloablut has joined #armbian
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> I'm in very early-phases with Armbina and OrangePI ... I don't know if Armbian will support MIPI-CSI camera with Opi4 Lts...
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> All to discover 🙂
<stipa> armbian runs on RPI4 too
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> I've created an IP camera with high performances that uses Rpi4, but Rpi4 is very hard to find and prices are so high so I'm trying to move all to Opi4 LTS because is available (I use about 100 pieces/year) and Libcamera support RK3399 that is in Opi4 LTS...
<Armbian-Discord> <shineworld> I've tried the original Opi4 linux distro but it so so a messy that I prefer to invest time on Armbian road
archetech has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Feel free to share your findings about CSI on OPi4LTS on forums. No idea if that actually works. Due to the wide variety of boards and very few people playing with those and lack of needed hardware it is basically impossible to test all possible hw features on each and every board.
<stipa> i would also try risc V route since chips from china have questionable future
<stipa> ARM chips
<stipa> it maybe looks like those should be available but in media things are different

<Armbian-Discord> <AirToast> Hi. This morning, I upgraded my packages on my RockPro64 running Armbian (Bullseye, Kernel 5.15). Essentially, I got the new Armbian 22.11.4 packages. After rebooting, I can't reach my device via network anymore. When booting up, it fails to start "Armbian memory supported logging". Also (in one of three attempts), the "Armbian leds state" start job wasn't finishing either. As that one doesn't have a time limit, the
<Armbian-Discord> boot process was hanging in that case. In the other two attempts, I reached the login screen. My keyboard input was printed to the screen. However, the system did not react to my input. Hence, I wasn't able to log in get any more details. Does anyone have a clue what might have gone wrong here?
<kreyren> Is there a way to make that experimental image for OLIMEX Teres-1 to not break after reboot?
<kreyren> or like can someone give me pointers to how the armbian deploys these images so that i can poke it with things to see what happens

<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> kreyren: we tried to support teres like 3 years ago. now is not supported as we don't know anyone that is around armbian dealing with it. we provide automated builds for all like others but we don't have a person you are looking for to work instead of you.
<kreyren> i can work just throw at me the code that handles builds for teres
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> this is all there is https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/config/boards/teres-a64.csc
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> plus probably some patches
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> images from https://github.com/armbian/community where you can find teres and many many exotics are build in automated way. nobody test them or fix problems. This is what other distros do and we also can.
<kreyren> i see
<kreyren> is there an armbian-way to enable serial console
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> this code is self explnatory , its bash
<kreyren> hmm checking
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> there is documentation too
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> not perfect, but can help
<kreyren> does official support involve more elaborate configuration or is it all handled through csc files defining variables?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> official support means there is someone you can ask
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> there is nobody you can ask in this case
<kreyren> i see
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> and support is anyway in best effort
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> support for build framework is - if you pay hours, you get person, if not, you dig into
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> there are forums, people might help in any case, so you can try free riding too, but there is no warranty
<kreyren> https://github.com/armbian/community/blob/main/.github/workflows/release.yml#L177 is the file extension some kind of standardization?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> you dig in ...
<kreyren> meh
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> i would like to help, but have to work
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> try forums
<kreyren> Is there any painless way to run the build locally? The docs doesn't seem to have anything relevant
<kreyren> or i am blind

<kreyren> IgorPec: sigh.. noted checking the variables against the source code now and doing docs and stuff
<p0g0> EfeCTN: per yesterdays query looking for a remote session client/server, I reread the orange pi 5 manual from orange pi. Following the suggestions there, I installed nomachine. It works well.
<IgorPec> take your time, its a lot to understand
<kreyren> What are DEFAULT_OVERLAYS? The docs for it sucks and the source code is just setting some usb things
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> kreyren: why are you submitting this??
<kreyren> bcs the docs is trash and i want to improve it
<kreyren> there is https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Options/ so i guess the readme file should instead point to that though
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> but you don't understand this system
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> you can't change documentation
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> take some time learning it
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> by submitting pointless things you are wasting precious time, yours and people that gets a review request
<kreyren> I understand most of the things just dunno what the overlays are
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> yes. but if you will submit a PR after 10 minuts I will reject it automatically
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> without reading it
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> take your time
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> respect other peoples time
<kreyren> i am trying to which is why i do small Merge requests that are easy to review
<kreyren> so ideally cooperate so that i get to adjust CONTRIBUTING and docs so that you don't have to waste time in the future when next kreyren-like person with his notebook shows up wanting to fix things~

<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> i agree we have many issues, UX issues and poor documentation
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> but this is it, we can only do this
<kreyren> you know priority management is a thing to not schold me over your inefficient time management to review size and time optimized merge requests right
<kreyren> so focus on your things i do my best improving the docs and you review it whenever you have time until you can trust me enough to merge things myself
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> yes, please. Just don't sent a MR for every change sentence
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> that's all i am asking for now
<kreyren> IgorPec, if you want it time efficient then one merge request per changed build option is imho the way to go, but if you want otherwise the clarify the expected size in changed lines
<kreyren> The documentation from https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ references the https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/config/boards/README.md so i will update the options there as the previous are only for applying to the compile.sh
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> ok, i'll check in the morning

* kreyren submitted draft for official support of teres-1 https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4749
<kreyren> the compile thing's dependent on systemd trash sigh..
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> What component?
<kreyren> /src/armbian-build/lib/functions/cli/utils-cli.sh: line 70: systemd-detect-virt: command not found
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Of course.. This is using core components of the OS
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Why reinvent the wheel
<kreyren> systemd's the definition of reinventing the wheel :p
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> I'm not the biggest fan of systemd but Armbian "is" a Debian/Ubuntu derivite
<kreyren> *devuan it*
* kreyren grins
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> You go right ahead
<kreyren> ohhh can i? :O
<kreyren> Armvuan
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Devuan has their own disto for ARM
<kreyren> i already put my hands in armbian though
<kreyren> shouldn't be hard to adjust the compile thing to build devuan though it's basically just replacing repos
<Armbian-Discord> <c0rnelius> Its more than replacing repos. They would also need to redo all the services they provide. Not to mention other misc. scripting and whatnot.
<Armbian-Discord> <c0rnelius> at its base sure... beyond that. not so much.
<kreyren> c0rnelius: Devuan is literally dedicated to redoing all the services and have scripts for that
<Armbian-Discord> <c0rnelius> they have all the custom scripts?
<kreyren> just systemd to openrc/sysvinit afaik
<Armbian-Discord> <c0rnelius> I'll have to touch base them and ask why i've needed to write so many to get it to work.
<kreyren> custom scripts within systemd are afaik also worked on
<kreyren> point being should work without an issue :p
<Armbian-Discord> <c0rnelius> yes and no
<Armbian-Discord> <c0rnelius> depends what ur script is doing
<Armbian-Discord> <c0rnelius> I get what ur saying. But it's really not as simple as you are suggesting.
<kreyren> /src/armbian-build/lib/functions/general/git.sh: line 240: git: command not found
<kreyren> guess i am fixing this too
<kreyren> the pain
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> @keyren: try reading the first page of the instructions:
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> apt-get -y -qq install git
