<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> why do we have any of our boards changing from SoC vendor defaults? That's the only way this can happen

<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> well some vendors change to 115200 so it's familiar, but rockchip is 1500000
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> frankly I don't care what each vendor likes to do, I'm going to keep whatever the default is on everything I support and would recommend that be the position of anything we "support"
<stipa> it's 10x, must be 10x better as well
<stipa> than the competition
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> lol

* archetech wonders  why he's the only one that uses Weston/Wayland on ARM
<archetech> its super fast lightweight and pretty
<archetech> got FF gnome terminal irc in browser what else does one need
<stipa> what could be a cause of static ghosting on a horizontal plane on VGA ?
<archetech> chk your logs
<stipa> a lose connection maybe
<stipa> i think it's in monitor
<stipa> it's ok on one GPU but not on another
<stipa> maybe factory defect on a screen
<stipa> i have to plug it into another VGA GPU port
<stipa> some other time

<schwarz_Kat> IgorPec: I have found a report of a bug on one of the boards that I am supporting on the P2P forum. orangepizeroplus.
<schwarz_Kat> "search for board relevant content on forums and tag it appropriate"
<schwarz_Kat> This links to https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1050 which I see is "In progress". Am I required to do something with this?
<ArmbianHelper> ^ Single board computer maintainer - Applications - armbian forum
<schwarz_Kat> I asked the member to file a bug report, so that we can capture the details, but I'm not even sure what that form does.
<ArmbianHelper> AR-1050 [Story] "Mass forum tagging" reported by Igor Pecovnik at 2022-01-13. Status: In Progress
<ArmbianHelper> ^ [AR-1050] - Jira
<schwarz_Kat> Will it create a Jira issue?
slacker_HD has joined #armbian
<IgorPec> no, Jira issue is created manually. and usually only in case there are minimal chanches this will be addressed
<IgorPec> are you reffering to this form ? https://www.armbian.com/bugs/

<schwarz_Kat> Yes that is the form.

<schwarz_Kat> I can possibly take a look at addressing the issue which is a missing /sys/class/gpio directory.
<schwarz_Kat> It's not something that I am familiar with on that board and I'm not sure where in the build system this would be addressed, but I would like to get to know it.

<schwarz_Kat> IgorPec: To busy trying to understand the correct course of action. Perhaps I should first have done some research. Looking on Kernel org, this file system looks be deprecated (that's not to say that it can't be made to work). https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/gpio/sysfs.txt. I'm guessing that I should just point the member to that notice, or would you advise some other action.

<schwarz_Kat> A fairly good explanation of the deprecation and the new way of controlling PIO. https://www.thegoodpenguin.co.uk/blog/stop-using-sys-class-gpio-its-deprecated/

<Armbian-Discord> <lanefu> We need to keep sysfs support
<Armbian-Discord> <lanefu> It's still too early to remove
<Armbian-Discord> <lanefu> It was deprecated before libgpiod even had half the functionality

<schwarz_Kat> lanefu: I get the impression that they can coexist. I will have a look at adding it back for this board or family of boards.
<Armbian-Discord> <lanefu> Yeah usually it's just a sloppy kernel config change in our repo
