also, I've built my own image now, on edge, and installed armbia-config, but I don't have the option of installing to emmc? I had that option when I was using the base board file, and only difference in my build (so far) is replacing g_serial with g_cdc and changing the names

well, IMO, the link should be up as sson as it's the usb cable is connected, that's how it works on desktop/fedora at least.
