hi
<midfavila>
quick question for you guys -- does anyone know of a way to get the linux tty to handle character strokes more robustly, e.g recognize alt and handle it properly?
<midfavila>
i'd run a search but looking for answers to questions of even a moderately technical vibe tends to result in pages upon pages of "what is an X in linux?"
<ioraff>
what do you mean "handle"? what would it mean to properly handle alt?
<midfavila>
best way to describe it is that programs that expect to receive alt scancodes just don't
<midfavila>
emacsen are a good example
<midfavila>
normally you'd use Alt-X to invoke commands, but under a tty that's not viable because... well, your emacs just never receives the right keycodes or whatever, i guess. i'll admit to not being well versed in how the kernel handles keyboard input

As I said before, the people who wan to get rid of C++ do not have pure motives. Unfortunately, Marxists philosophies have infected computer programming. Their goal is to get rid of C++ so as to eliminate the tool that serious software engineers use to create disparities between themselves and people who regard coding as (1) a way to pay the mortgage (2) a bad that says that they are part of the club.
<testuser[m]>
Also, when the "government" puts-out a notice like that, we have to remember, it is not all of the "government". More than likely, it is a small group of Marxist lemmings who use their positional authority to speak for the government.

Just wait wait until these people get deep inside the computer science department at engineering universities. Watch what follows.

Hi
<wael[m]>
testuser: why is zstd disabled for btrfs-progs?
<wael[m]>
and why don't you use --disable-convert and --disable-lzo?
<wael[m]>
zstd is a fantastic compression thing that i use on my drives without realizing zstd was disabled lol
<testuser[m]>
btrfs progs isnt relevant for that
<testuser[m]>
but yea ill enable idk who disabled it
<wael[m]>

help
<wael[m]>
syslinux is dropped in repositories i believe
<wael[m]>
so like idk
<van2022>
what to do with what is?
<wael[m]>
its been dropped because no one maintains it apparently
<wael[m]>
but kiss-live has been updated and assuming that it's been used as well, someone probably maintains it in some repository
<van2022>
I stopped walking kisslinux.org/install number 006. how to move forward?
