Fsck you zorzy!
<zorz>
SiFuh_: F4ck!
<zorz>
SiFuhck
<zorz>
:-D
<SiFuh_>
Hehe
<SiFuh_>
zorz: We were doing 40 in an 80 zone. The car in front was just creeping along. "Dude! If he drives any slower he will be going backwards. I can overtake that moron standing still. Fucking traffic light has been green for 2 and 1/2 hours. I can park a 747 in front of the space between him and the car in front" Wife turns to me and said "You want me to video this and upload to youtube?"
<SiFuh_>
ukky: Ging to watch Soldier (1998) now.
<SiFuh_>
Going*
<zorz>
SiFuh_: get the pills :P
<zorz>
prozac, lexotanil etc etc
<zorz>
hehee
<SiFuh_>
zorz: Got a 'fucking female' story for you
<zorz>
SiFuh_: wanting to ask you something... do you have any way to see satelite images of earth showing caves or metals ?
<SiFuh_>
Today I was spray painting my fender flares. I was on the last coat of black before I use high gloss. Wife comes home and dumps all her stuff on the table I was spray painting on. Destroyed my paint job because the paint is wet still. Now I have to re-sand it all again tomorrow. Then suddenly she starts yelling at me how I am inconsiderate. I was like 'WTF? She just ruined my paint job and now I am
<SiFuh_>
inconsiderate?'
<zorz>
shit
<SiFuh_>
She then grabs the clothes line and pushes it away and abuses me for spraying paint beside it. Hmmm "Excuse me woman. I moved it to behind the truck. Your father came and put it back in front of me. So who is inconsiderate? Me who moved it? Your father who didn't give a fsck about over-spray and put it back? Or YOU! Who just ruined two days worth of work and now I have to re-sand everything all over
<zorz>
fuckin hell
<SiFuh_>
again?"
<zorz>
i hate sanding re-sand
<SiFuh_>
Me too. I spent 5 days on it. It was almost done. She fucked it in less than a second.
<SiFuh_>
Now I have to spend maybe 2 days to get it back down to the depth shit cut through the paint with her stupid shit folders
<SiFuh_>
shit/she*
<SiFuh_>
That means two tins of paint are now wasted as well.
<SiFuh_>
Most of what you ask is really only available for corporations like PALSAR and GAFAG
<SiFuh_>
for corporations PROVIDED BY COMPANIES like*
<zorz>
i get it
<zorz>
coming private
<SiFuh_>
I laugh at the name GAFAG sounds like Gay Fags
<SiFuh_>
But on the bright side, it makes it easy to remember :-P
<zorz>
surely are Gay
<SiFuh_>
zorz: You missed my rant yesterday. Only ukky came to assist me
<zorz>
rant?
<SiFuh_>
zorz: Yes runt, a rant.
<SiFuh_>
ukky: So many things wrong with this movie like a dissappearing scar, a military vehicle exploding after crashing into weeds and so on.. But I like it. Thanks ukky
<SiFuh_>
ukky: Added to my keeper collection. Surprised I had never seen it before
<SiFuh_>
zorz: If you read the logs you'd see. 3,200 motherfucker
<ukky>
SiFuh_: I am glad you liked it.
<SiFuh_>
ukky: That's a weird thing to say
<SiFuh_>
ukky: With exception of Alien. I hate most movies that make women like so powerful her sissy punch can knock out 200 tough men. But the mives I hate more is when the women are super genius and men are blithering idiots. I think it started around Married with Children series.
<ukky>
Yeah. It is unnatural when a woman can overpower a man in a movies. In real life, imho, even the weakest/untrained man can overpower a woman that trains in a gym.
<ukky>
SiFuh_: Thanks for 'This is the song that never ends'.
<SiFuh_>
Muhahahahaha
<SiFuh_>
ukky: I liked that series Justified. But I think that Elephant dude looks like a long lanky banana :-)
<SiFuh_>
Timothy Olyphant*
<ukky>
Dark Matter is not bad
<SiFuh_>
2024?
<ukky>
Yes, 2024
<SiFuh_>
Years are important because many series are called Dark Matter
<farkuhar>
Yes, years are important ... the head of pkgutil.cc has "(c) 2000-2005 Per Liden" and "(c) 2006-2021 by CRUX team". When Per was writing pkgutils back in 2000, did he ever consider porting mtree(8) from *BSD, rather than writing pkg_footprint() in terms of libarchive functions?
<SiFuh_>
Oh wow look what remiliascarlet's cat dragged in
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: Where have you been?
<farkuhar>
Oh, according to the git log, Per's original code would have used libtar not libarchive. The switch to libarchive occurred with commit c3434674df in November 2006.
<farkuhar>
Now I just need to look up how long mtree(8) has been available in *BSD.
<SiFuh_>
The mtree utility appeared in 4.3BSD-Reno.
<SiFuh_>
4.3BSD-Reno (1990)
<farkuhar>
So it was definitely available as a model for Per to adapt, but he chose to reinvent the wheel from scratch, for the purpose of checking footprints? Was he wary about licensing issues (trying to avoid contaminating a GPL codebase)?
<SiFuh_>
No idea
<farkuhar>
Maybe it's not a good idea to start talking about licenses; it'll summon uwumeowmeownyaa out of hiding.
<SiFuh_>
Hahaha
<ukky>
Talking about licences might be okay. But discussing how bad GNU is might be a bad idea.
<farkuhar>
One way to reconstruct Per's reasoning: CRUX-specific tools are intended to be covered by the GPL only. Referring to BSD-licensed code when writing pkgutils runs the risk of tainting the code with a different license. Since mtree(8) is therefore off-limits, let's implement something similar but with the pkg tarball as the argument. That way we can't be accused of copying mtree(8) feature-for-feature.
<farkuhar>
Result: pkg_footprint() is dependent on the specific features available through libtar (or through libarchive after November 2006).
<ukky>
Was GNU code considered lean and non-bloated in 2006? Maybe Per considered GNU code as better alternative to BSD code at that time?
<SiFuh_>
Or just drunk on the Linux fad
<SiFuh_>
He was just a normal guy. I doubt he cared much about any of that shit. He just seemed to want a BSD like distro of Linux.
<SiFuh_>
Hard disk space was expensive so he even pushed to make it super light and compact
<ukky>
Also, GPLv3 was released in 2007. Per could see GPLv2 and *BSD licenses as equal.
<SiFuh_>
ukky: Here is one for you. Per seemed to hate me. But here I am, 23 years later still using his creation :-P
<ukky>
SiFuh_: Lucky you that you made a good choice early in your life. I used DOS/Windows until 2012, then Microsoft pushed me into Linux world.
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar ukky zorz remiliascarlet Holy shit. I have been using CRUX for half of my life!
<SiFuh_>
ukky: I was on BSD then switched to Linux then switched to OpenBSD (very short version)
<SiFuh_>
My first Linux Distro was Caldera
<SiFuh_>
I had a Win Modem which was software based. Basically a sound card for dialing in. They didn't work under Linux. So I bought a 56K PCI Master hardware modem and I remember configuring it and thinking. This shit is cool.
<ukky>
Never had WinModem, but I remember it was used and it was cheap
<SiFuh_>
Pieces of shit to be honest.
<ukky>
Agree
<SiFuh_>
It came with the PC I bought
<SiFuh_>
I remember the manual for the 56K PCI Master modem. It said if you can't connect to the internet please go to this website.
<farkuhar>
Release notes for 4.3BSD-Reno (1990) highlight the introduction of a freely-distributable NFS implementation. That reminds me, nfs-utils 2.8.2 has incorporated a few commits that render unnecessary most of emmett1's musl patches. Maybe there's no need to dup the nfs-utils port any more, for the CRUX-musl overlay.
<SiFuh_>
New drivers and firmware are released as need arises to insure maximum compat-
<SiFuh_>
ibility and operation of your new 56K Internal PCI Modem. Find out about these
<SiFuh_>
and other new Actiontec products on the web at: http:\\ww
<SiFuh_>
w.actiontec.com.
<SiFuh_>
Hmm I must have misread it
<ukky>
Playing with modems was fun. I used modem as CallerID device to log incoming calls while I was out of my apartment.
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: overlay?
<SiFuh_>
ukky: I wrote a script to answer calls but send a dial tone. That way people selling shit would think they were ringing my phone but were actually paying for a call they didn't realise had actually answered
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: as much as I like emmett1, I wouldn't touch his ports without combing through them with a fine toothed comb. He cuts corners too much
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: It's a Malaysian thing.
<farkuhar>
I got a successful build of nfs-utils#2.8.2 with jue's official port (no musl-specific patches), but I haven't yet tested the updated daemon. The 2.8.2 ChangeLog makes it seem like they've addressed a number of musl issues upstream, including the issues that emmett1 included patches for.
<SiFuh_>
Those patches probably are not his
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: Any clues on the next release? Jaeger was pushing me to do a kernel update then I did and months have passed by and still no release
<farkuhar>
SiFuh_: No idea.
<SiFuh_>
Where is ppetrov^, I haven't seen him in awhile
<farkuhar>
Maybe he's waiting for an old friend to post some sign of life, before coming out of hiding himself. Kind of like how Romster replied to the recent thread started by prologic.
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: Interesting. Hope he is doing well
<farkuhar>
he = Romster, or he = ppetrov^?
<SiFuh_>
Romster, no one cares much about ppetrov^ :-P
<farkuhar>
I think you're forgetting how much lavaball cared about him.
<SiFuh_>
lavaball cares about himself and his wang
<SiFuh_>
Last time I spoke to Romster he was very very unwell. Hence leaving CRUX
<SiFuh_>
Well, it is 5am, I am going to sleep. Today I have to sand again thanks the wife destroying my paint job and getting the blame for being inconsiderate even though her father did it and not me.
<SiFuh_>
This CRUX bridge shit is offensive
<SiFuh_>
WHy are these motherfucking cunts using a bridge to talk to users?
<SiFuh_>
Must be a fucking fashion fad thing. Like unbuttoning the top button of your jeans like Britney Spears
<SiFuh_>
Probably all soyboys now anyways. Fscking faggots
