frinnst's pictures of retro hardware and uwumeowmeownyaa's questions about backlight brightness reminded me of my family's old CRT monitor, whose only controls for adjusting the brightness and contrast were analog dials. When we replaced it with a newer model, I found it much more awkward to use the push-button control panel (with on-screen dialogs).

SiFuh: The other day, some Australian woman told me that by Japanese laws, you can only carry a knife with you if it's up to 6 cm long. I looked it up, and turned out she was correct. So I have to pretend like if that knife is just a cosplay one.
<remiliascarlet>
Luckily, that knife already looks like it came from some video game (which is why I call it a video game knife).
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: Australia changed the knife laws last year. While in a public place or school you cannot have custody of a knife. This means you cannot carry it on your person, or amongst your belongings – including your vehicle. Under the Knife crimes amendment a person cannot use a knife if the use is in the presence or view of another person, in a public place or school and is in anyway likely to

cause a reasonable person to fear for their safety.
<SiFuh>
The Knife Crimes Amendment specifies that it is the responsibility of the defendant to prove that they have a reasonable excuse.

The revdep build failure with elfutils 0.192 got me wondering about /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libelf.pc ... why does -L${libdir} expand to -L/lib instead of -L/usr/lib (as one would expect by recursively following the earlier definitions)?
<farkuhar>
But fixing the erroneous substitution is not enough to obtain a successful revdep build. Replacing the entire pkgconf command with the constant string "-lelf -L/usr/lib -lz -lzstd -lpthread" still results in an undefined reference to eu_search_tree_init, as jaeger reported in #crux-devel.
<farkuhar>
In the meantime, there's always the possibility of replacing the compiled revdep with emmett1's shell script implementation, at least until the elfutils linking issues are worked out.
