When will the CRUX GNU/Linux distribution also referred to as just "CRUX" publish its Code of Conduct?
<SiFuh_>
There is no CRUX GNU/Linux so nothing will be published about it.
farkuhar has joined #crux-social
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: Can you write a code of conduct and make sure the first one says that CRUX will be referred only as CRUX and nothing else?
<farkuhar>
SiFuh_: CRUX doesn't need a CoC. We already have a Pkgfile(5) which lays out the guidelines for port creators. Alas, contrib/rtkit seems to deviate from those guidelines by listing among its dependencies a core port (vim) that is only needed at build-time (https://github.com/heftig/rtkit/blob/master/meson.build#L88) not at runtime.
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: But uwumeowmeownyaa want's a code of conduct
<farkuhar>
It's actually only the xxd binary that contrib/rtkit needs during build-time, not the entire vim suite. When I last paid attention to the vim repo, it looked like xxd.c was stable and not getting updated at the same rate as the rest of vim. But a quick glance reveals that xxd.c has received nine commits so far this year.
<SiFuh_>
VIM should't be in core
<SiFuh_>
VI can be but not VIM.
<SiFuh_>
-r-xr-xr-x 3 root bin 356K Sep 30 22:33 /usr/bin/vi
<SiFuh_>
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 3.7M Oct 9 23:19 /usr/local/bin/vim
<farkuhar>
SiFuh_: just be thankful that beerman hasn't replaced the core port with neovim.
<SiFuh_>
OpenBSD's vi is quite useable compared to some of the Linux vi software.
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: I'd fly to Germany and take him out.

Instead of VIM, GNU Emacs should be in core. Because it can be used for many purposes, from browsing the Internet, to reading and writing electronic mails.
<uwumeowmeownyaa>
GNU Emacs can also replace a window manager with the so-called "EXWM".
<SiFuh_>
Emacs should NEVER be in core
<SiFuh_>
I use Emacs, and I will never agree it to being in core.
<SiFuh_>
Core needs to be bare minimum with nothing except what is needed to get your system up and running from a super minimal base. Nothing else should be added. For example. OpenDoas and Sudo should never be in core. There is already a command 'su' but for some dumb reason someone put sudo into core.
<uwumeowmeownyaa>
I hate sudo so much it's unreal.
<uwumeowmeownyaa>
Also I agree with you on the subject.

Emacs might be part of the core, as it has potential to replace init (PID 1) process. Just kidding.
<ukky>
SiFuh_: I don't check every link posted here
<SiFuh_>
ukky: I did data retrieval 2 days ago. The guy said only 70% was recovered. I said "You don't organize anything. The folders you are looking for is under Users/Admin-<Some stupid lettering>/Desktop/ He then replied "You recovered everything! How much should I pay you?" I said "50 for first hour, 100 for every hour after. So 5 hours makes it 450 or you can buy me a carton of beer (160 MYR)".
<SiFuh_>
is/are
<ukky>
I bet there were lots of files and links in that */Desktop/ directory
<SiFuh_>
ukky: I don't know. I just no one thing. If you do data retrieval. _Don't click on anything, don't look at anything, because you may regret it_... just let it happen and tell them it is done.
<SiFuh_>
ukky: I made the mistake twice of verifying images and once you see it, you can never unsee it.
<SiFuh_>
So I have a strictly no click, no view policy.
<ukky>
SiFuh_: You have seen it all. I wonder what kind of image would make you wish to unsee it.
<SiFuh_>
ukky: I can tell you if you are serious to know
<SiFuh_>
Heh, the images are popping back into my head. Holy shit.
<ukky>
Not serious enough.
<SiFuh_>
ukky: Good, because it is not something that any normal human being would even fathom.
<SiFuh_>
Glad I didn't get PTSD from it that is for sure.
<ukky>
Definitely something more scary than anatomy room in med schools then
<SiFuh_>
Yes much worse
<SiFuh_>
Never understood why the most beautiful things get trumped in your memory by the most horrific things you see.
<ukky>
Because those horrific images leave deeper scars in your memory (maybe)
<SiFuh_>
I remember seeing images of when the Indonesian ABRI were slaughtering all the Chinese and some of the stuff was sickening. My friend cried when he saw this. What I saw during the data retrieval was way more worse than that.
<SiFuh_>
ukky: Worse still, I was asked to repair that computer a second time. I felt so disgusted just touching the keyboard.
<ukky>
Beer might help in that case to switch to more pleasant memories
<SiFuh_>
No chance
<ukky>
Pack of 6?
<SiFuh_>
I'd need a pallet load and a few bottles of vodka to get alcohol poisoning
<SiFuh_>
ukky: Hope the guy chooses 450. Hope he is muslim and doesn't want to buy me a carton of beer. :-P But the carton will be good. I plan to go camping again this weekend and need a carton.
