<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: About Cinux: Last commit: "Merge branch 'torvalds:master' into master"...
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: "I'd have moved my software and myself from the US if it was the case." Mexico appears to be a very popular refugee camp to Americans.
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: "Never going to happen. Plan9 will never kick off. I have been waiting since the 90's" Maybe it will when every last UNIX-like OS gets infiltrated by the woke hate mob... No wait, 9front is already owned by the woke hate mob, nevermind...
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: "Why can't beerman credit others?" Because of egoism.
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Who said I was an athiest though?
<remiliascarlet> An athiest believes in science, which I don't trust at all.
<remiliascarlet> Science of today is full of shit.
<remiliascarlet> Can't comment on science from pre-2020, because the only science from before 2020 I heard of is that every year something new is linked to cancer, which I already found to be ridiculous.
<remiliascarlet> Things like "black spots on grilled meat linked to cancer", "toilet paper linked to cancer", "breathing air linked to cancer", "walking bare feet on grass linked to cancer", "open source is cancer, said Steve Ballmer".
<SiFuh> [remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Who said I was an athiest though? <-- Not me
<SiFuh> [remiliascarlet> An athiest believes in science <-- Not true
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: You know what they say, never ask a woman her age and weight, never ask a man his salary, and never ask The Linux Foundation their reason to purge every single Russian from the kernel.
<SiFuh> Heh

<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: ^ He explains it very well.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Last night I was talking to a police man from Penang. He doesn't believe we saw a crocodile. Kept telling me it was a monitor lizard. :@ I know the difference, I am Australian!

<farkuhar> SiFuh: it looks like the FLAVORS of an OpenBSD port are not an exact counterpart of the Arch PKGBUILD feature I was talking about. For each FLAVOR you still end up running a new instance of `./configure && make DESTDIR=$PKG install`, but the Arch PKGBUILD lets you run `./configure && make DESTDIR=$PKG install` just once, then split up the contents of $PKG into multiple *.pkg.tar.gz files.

<farkuhar> zorz: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/pulseaudio/-/blob/main/PKGBUILD?ref_type=heads <- Multiple packages using only one instance of `meson compile`. The Arch tooling is very flexible that way, giving you a convenient mechanism for splitting up the result of a build. If I wanted to do the same thing with CRUX tooling, I would have to create multiple ports, each with its own invocation of `meson setup && meson compile`.
<zorz> mesa aswell
<zorz> CRUX is quite old.
<zorz> farkuhar: ask head of development beerman to update it :P
<zorz> where is SiFuh heh
<farkuhar> CRUX might be "old" but it isn't "out of date". That's one advantage of a rolling release model.
<zorz> i did not say out of date, crux works fine
<farkuhar> zorz: SiFuh would object to your characterization of beerman. Not "head of development", but rather "the guy who does most of the packaging work and is therefore given free rein to impose his vision on the system" (no matter how un-CRUX-like these innovations are, dumb_runtime_dir for example)
<farkuhar> As far as asking beerman to commit some updates, anyone else is welcome to file issues on Gitea, or to vote on existing issues like this one: https://git.crux.nu/ports/core/issues/5
<farkuhar> Another Gitea issue that could receive more votes and thereby appear again on beerman's dashboard: https://git.crux.nu/tools/prt-get/issues/1
<ukky> Crux lacks ability to use single port to build packages for different CPU arch and libc implementation.
<ukky> Basically, any deviation from the 'Crux X86_64 glibc eudev PAM SysVinit' set requires new Crux port tree

<SiFuh> farkuhar: made a spelling mistake. :-)
<ukky> SiFuh: farkuhar never makes spelling errors. Please check again.
<SiFuh> sorry zorz. I was at a wedding. Check out the girls. https://s3.amazonaws.com/i.snag.gy/bop2Rn.jpg The fat one got married today
<SiFuh> ukky: He spelled rein as in a horses reins and not reign as in ruler
<SiFuh> horse's
<SiFuh> zorz: the girl in pink is absolutely beautiful but her photo does nothign for her.
<SiFuh> Pink blue black and blue are sisters. The mother is hugging the fat girl in black.
<farkuhar> SiFuh: horse's reins ... that's the actual origin of the phrase "free rein"
<SiFuh> I told the wife. I am going to take a photo with the mother. They all laughed and said impossible. But I got the photo. Unfortunately the professional photgrapher tooked the photo so I don't have it yet.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Oh that's cheating.
