<SiFuh_> remiliascarlet: Hahaha, the uncle comes around and hands me a fan. I asked him "What's this for?" he says "No one can fix. Taken to shop to repair and they can't do it" I said "No wonder, that fan is like a hundred years old" He says "My boss's parents died 40 years ago so the fan has sentimental value to them. Can you fix?" I said that I will take a look at it. 1 hour later, the fan is running well.
<SiFuh_> So they can have it back now.

<farkuhar> zorz: 'lo
<zorz> farkuhar: did you write a script to welcome me?
<zorz> where is my friend SiFuh_ ?
<farkuhar> zorz: no, I just happened to be lurking here when you arrived.
<zorz> :)
<SiFuh_> Lurking with farkuhar
<zorz> wuss lurk :P
<SiFuh_> zorz: You describing what you do?
<SiFuh_> zorz: You better go back to school in Texas
<farkuhar> Another failed update on CRUX-musl: iptables#1.8.11 complains about a redefinition of 'struct ethhdr', originally defined in /usr/include/linux/if_ether.h but then overwritten by the musl-provided /usr/include/netinet/if_ether.h

<farkuhar> Supporting my theory that the aom#3.11.0 build failure can be traced to gcc 14: beerman still hasn't pushed the aom update to the 3.8 branch of contrib. Once I bump the gcc version on my CRUX-glibc laptop, I'll be able to test whether musl shares any blame in this particular issue.
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: Got a Malaysian story for you
<farkuhar> SiFuh_: must be a long story if you're still typing 3 minutes later.
<SiFuh_> I wasn't I was using the WC
<SiFuh_> The transport minister in Malaysia has banned all 3 point (220v AC) sockets and USB ports on busses in Malaysia
<SiFuh_> Reason? 18 year old (They say kid) guy got electrocuted to death.
<SiFuh_> Most Malays are tech savy and they understand the difference between a USB port and an AC socket. So it has sparked outrage here. Even as far as saying this useless no good for anything guy couldn't change a light bulb but is dictating rules
<SiFuh_> If an 18 year old kid dying from an AC socket is the reason to ban all USB ports on a bus. Then shouldn't busses be banned? Power poles? Pot holes?
<SiFuh_> Last time he spoke he demanded all people get a digital ID to use public transport. It created such revolt in Malaysia he had to go back on his words and cancel the proposal.
<SiFuh_> My suspicions were correct. The Mandarin Hotel wedding on Sunday was a wedding for a Sultan. The one from Selangor. And this is the reason all the Sultans will be at KL at 18:00 on Sunday and why on Saturday, I ran into the Sultan of Pahang's Nephew at the night club that I didn't enter because of the noise and lights.
<SiFuh_> will be/were*
<SiFuh_> The Malays thought I was a liar because Muslim don't drink. But now they know and don't want to talk about it. HAHAHA
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: I think I will go fishing
<farkuhar> Okay, I just got successful builds of aom#3.10.0 and aom#3.11.0 with gcc 14 on my CRUX-glibc machine, so maybe we can blame musl for the aom build failure. But running cmake with -D ENABLE_EXAMPLES=0 is a viable workaround, if you don't need /usr/bin/aom{dec,enc}.
